Women-What The Heck?

Photobucket

Lately I’m noticing a trend and it’s really sad to me. Women who no longer care if a man has a girlfriend. I had a girls night last night with two of my friends and both were lamenting that the men they were “seeing” weren’t ready to leave their girlfriends for them. The dinner ended really bad with me leaving in a huff. I was flabbergasted for a few reasons. The man who cheats on his lady is a huge jerk as well and should be knocked out, but if a woman knowingly knows that a man has a lady and continues to pursue him, what is that saying about her? Are you that insecure? You can’t find your own man? Don't you realize you'll be second best. That infuriates me. When Mr. DE and I are out, women constantly give him the eye. On the subway one woman even tried to give him her number in front of me. I almost died of laughter. Mr. DE just looked at her like she was nuts and told her to get a life. After me asking her if she was insane, she quickly and fearfully said (I was pissed!), “Oh, you two look alike, I thought you were brother/sister.” After laughing at her for her dumb excuse, I told her that she was a sad case, and to go get a self-esteem.

Women, why would you ever settle for being second best? I had a discussion with a male cheating friend of mine about it, and he said “Men will never respect or wife a woman who knowingly knows that we have a girlfriend, and still mess with us, but we’ll have fun with them, and then throw them out.” What happened to sisterhood? What happened to women sticking together? But most of all what happened to respect for yourself?

Would you ever date a man who you know has a girlfriend?

Why do you think some women do that?

Beauty Logic Approved Eye Cream Elizabeth Grant Vitamin C

I barely have under eye circles. However, I always wear under eye concealer. (I want to my face to look flawless.) Before you put your under eye concealer, it’s important to use a moisturizing eye cream or your concealer can just end up bringing out more of your imperfections. One I’ve been using lately, and absolutely adoring, is my Elizabeth Grant Vitamin C Eye Cream.
Photobucket
It’s very moisturizing but not overly done so my skin is not a greasy mess. It contains something called Emblica from the Indian gooseberry tree. This is supposed to have the highest content of vitamin C of any plant. It also contains Elizabeth Grant’s famous hidden ingredient called Torricelumn. This has been her hidden secret ingredient for 40 years and the discovery of this ingredient led her to start her line. Whatever it is, my undereye area, loved it! Anyway, I always say the proof is in the pudding. I use this in the morning right before I apply the concealer, and it is so moisturizing and hydrating that my concealer just slides right on. A problem in the past I’ve had with undereye concealers is that many of them make me break out, but not with this one.

This is definitely a Beautylogic Approved product.

What eyecreams are you using?

SAM FINE EVENT THE BASICS OF BEAUTY DVD PARTY

Photobucket
Last Thursday I was invited to the launching of Sam Fine’s The Basics of Beauty DVD party at The Warren Tricomi Salon in the Plaza Hotel.
If you don’t know who Sam Fine is, he’s one of the most recognized make-up artist in the world. He’s made models and Goddesses like Iman, and Vanessa Williams look amazing. Both of those beauties were at the event as well as many other celebrities. It was seriously star-studded. It was a very cool event. I spoke to Sam for five seconds, and he seems incredibly wonderful and very gracious.
Anyway, you know DE’s a social butterfly so I mingled and saw two of my blogging buddies, Wes of Honey Brown Sugar and Carla of Brown Girl Gumbo. Both are beauties as well. All in all, I had to leave after a few minutes though because I had another engagement, but what I thought was hilarioius was that another girl had my exact same dress on. My friend Cassie noticed it first and she told me we should make a run for it before anyone noticed. But, I thought it was so funny, and I approached the beauty. We both had a good laugh about it and we even took a pic.

Turns out she’s another beauty blogger as well. Her blog is called ThisThatBeauty. We commited a Fashion faux Pas, but hey who cares!

BEE-HAIR-NOW HAIR REPAIR CONDITIONER

You guys know how I feel about my tresses. There is nothing like my hair. I love love love her. She’s so pretty! (yes I’m still talking about my hair, you know I’m a little conceited when it comes to her.) Anyway, this weekend in NY was downright miserable. Saturday was horribly rainy and gross, and sticky. So I decided to go to whole foods to do my grocery shopping (I hate grocery shopping). Anyway, I ended up in the “whole body” section. That’s where whole foods keeps their beauty products. I wanted to try a new conditioner, and I stumbled upon this one.

BEE-Hair –Now Hair Repair Conditioner
Photobucket

This conditioner contains royal jelly, honey, Bee Pollen (considered to be the most complete food on earth) Calendula, parsley, rosemary, and other amazing natural ingredients and most of them are organic. It’s also Paraben, SLS and synthetic fragrance free. Well the results were great. Yesterday was Sunday which of course is my “me” day. It’s the day where I kick Mr. DE out and spend the day meditating and doing girly things with myself, like washing and doing my own hair, putting a masque on, and just plain old relaxing. I hope you ladies have a “me” day too. Anyway, when I applied this, the first thing I noticed was it’s citrus smell. It was delicious. It’s a pretty thick conditioner, and I left it on for around 2 minutes. Wow, when I removed it, my hair was left so detangled, and feeling oh so smooth. I then decided to do my own hair, so I put a roller set in, and when I removed the roller set, and dried my hair, the results were great. My hair was soooo shiny, incredibly soft, and seriously full of volume, not weighed down at all.

DE Loves this!

This is a BeautyLogic Approved conditioner big time!

How was your weekend?

Do you have a "me" day?

Have you tried this line?

Hair Can't Grow-Try Massaging!

As I’ve said to you guys before, my hair never grew when I was growing up. It stayed shoulder length forever. So when mommy saw my frustration, she quickly took over. (I love that woman!) She saw me buying endless products like “Hair Gro-Fast” “Quick grow” and countless other crap that did nothing but make my hair a greasy mess. I found out later a lot of those products contained mineral oil (which should never be put on your tresses). Mommy has always been into holistic things, and she asked me if she could take over my hair regime. I was desperate but then I looked at mommy’s long mane and I decided it was time to let the woman work her magic.

Photobucket

So every night, she would massage my scalp for around 5 minutes in circular motions, never with her nails, always with her fingertips. She would start gently at first but her touch would get firmer and firmer as the massage progressed. Have you ever had a scalp massage? Those feel heavenly. (Give your man one, he’ll love you forever). She would do it for four days straight and then on the fifth day, she would use coconut oil and olive oil and do it for around 10 minutes. The results were great. After months of these massages, my hair began growing. I also began implementing the hair tonic (all mommy’s ideas) and my hair truly began to see the difference. Ten years later, I continue to massage my scalp, and drink the hair tonic (although I usually do my massage twice a week). I’ve gotten e-mails from people who have looked at my youtube and said that once they began massaging their scalp, their hair began to grow. According to Hair Loss Expert

“The kneading pressure applied by massage warms the skin and opens up blood vessels to increase flow and boost circulation. Increased circulation means that the cells of the hair follicle will receive more of the nutrients necessary to optimal hair growth function.”

If your hair is not growing as fast as you’d like, try massaging your scalp. Add coconut oil to the massage maybe once or twice a week. Coconut oil is scientifically proven to be one of the few oils to actually penetrate the hair. Please note that your hair itself is dead. Nothing that you apply on your hair directly will make it grow. That’s why massaging your scalp is so important because growth starts from the base of the scalp. Also massaging will help terminate dandruff, and other hair issues.

Hope this helps,

Do you massage your scalp?

De's Indian Beauty =Amla Oil

I went to get my eyebrows done at my area indian beauty spot, and when I walked towards the cashier to pay, I noticed that she had started stacking massive indian hair products, so you know DE, had to grab a whole bunch. Many of my indian friends swear by Amla Oil so I picked up a bottle and grabbed some jasmine oil as well. I'm going to use the Amla oil as a hot treatment this weekend, and let you girlies know how it is. Also, I finally got my camera so I will do my hair tonic video this week.

NEVER LEAVE HOME... WITHOUT IT ON!

Yesterday my cousin slept over my house. In the morning, I always like to run around 2 miles in the park. It helps get me in a great mood, and running is a great exercise to clear your mind up of negative energy and thoughts. Anyway before I went for my run, I threw on my ugliest sweats, one of Mr. DE’s oversized t-shirts, put on my ugly old asics from like 1999 and quickly swept my hair in a messy bun. I then ran to the bathroom, opened up my makeup bag, and applied the one makeup product that you will never see me without. Leslie (my cousin) had a great laugh about that. She couldn’t believe that before I began my intense run, I would apply a beauty product on my face. Here’s my issue, I will never leave my house without this on. It’s been in my makeup bag for over two years, and I just love the glow that I get when using this. It’s my Clinique highlighter.

Photobucket

I apply a little on my cheeks, and on bronzed skin it looks heavenly. No matter where I’m going, you will not see me without this. This is the one product that I’ll never leave my house without. It’s almost as much as my beauty routine, as brushing my teeth is to my morning routine. I love this stuff!

What’s the one product that you never leave home without on?

Summer is here, and it’s all about the bright and vibrant colors.
Sally Hansen’s new HD Collection is no exception.

These bright, and beautiful colors, that look stunning on the fingernails.

First color is a stunning purple called CYBER
I love how rich and beautiful this color is.

Second is a gorgeous bright sunny yellow called LITE.
Photobucket

Third is a gorgeous bright orange. It’s so pretty. The color is called THREE-D

I’m in love with blues this year. This Blue is no exception. The color is such a rich hue. It’s called BLU

De's favorite couple Will Smith & Jada Pinkett

Photobucket

I work on a popular morning show. (Although I’m in a pretty low position, it’s a step closer to my reporting dream.)Jada Pinkett was on for interview that aired today. The woman is a Goddess. I swear pictures do not do this vision justice. In person she took my breath away. But, I’m not writing because of how stunning she is (that deserves it’s own separate post.) I’m writing because as she was getting interviewed, her husband, mega superstar and one of my favorite actors, Will Smith sat down and watched her dutifully. The way he was gazing at her while she was getting interviewed, was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen . It's insane how you can tell when two people are truly in love. As she spoke to the host, he watched her with so much pride and love in his eyes. It was unbelievable, and all the girls who work on my show, noticed it as well. When she was finished, she walked towards him, and he held her scarf in his hands. He gazed at her sweetly as he placed it slowly across her shoulders (like a real gentleman). He then gave her a big smile as if to say “baby you were great.” She smiled back, and they kissed each other lovingly on the lips. I couldn’t stop staring at them. Their love was so palpable that I could feel it. We all could! Love is so beautiful. Working on my show, we’ve had huge celebrities on, and I never care. (They're regular people just like you and me) but there’s something almost magical about these two. As they left, they were so gracious, and thanked everyone, even the interns. Love always makes me smile and I thought to myself how beautiful it is when you find your other half. When you find the person that stares at you lovingly and with so much pride in their eyes like he did. They had me thinking of a quote that I love that I want to share with you. (You know how much I love my quotes!) "To the world you may be just one person, but to one person, you may be the world. " In the age of so many celebrity divorces, it's refreshing to see a couple that truly loves each other.

Will Smith & Jada Pinkett= De’s New favorite couple.

DE Hair Rec: Giovanni Smooth As Silk Xtreme Hair Protein Pack

I haven’t cut my hair in two months, and I realized how long it was this weekend when I decided to wear it curly and it was still way below my bra-strap. Time for cut! But, I also realized that I haven’t blogged about my favorite protein pack yet. Not sure why I haven’t done it yet. But it’s time.
I'm talking about the

Giovanni Smooth as Silk Xtreme Protein Infusion

Photobucket

I love this stuff. I use it about once every two weeks and leave it on for about 10 minutes under the dryer. You shouldn’t use protein too often because it can break your hair. But after I wash this off, I always condition with a moisturizing conditioner. I’m left with glistening, soft, and volumous hair. My curls looked soooooo pretty this weekend. They were perfectly formed, bouncy, and oh so pretty. If I had a camera, I would have taken a pic.

Have you tried this?

What were your thoughts.

DE Needs a new camera. If you have a recommendation, please e-mail me.

DE Cousin Hair Rec-Olive & Avocado Deep Moisturizing Conditioner

My cousin has really thick curly hair. Kind of like Tracy Ellis Ross.
Photobucket
She’s another hair fanatic like me, and she wanted me to let you guys know of this fantastic conditioner that she recently tried. It’s Earth Science’s Olive & Avocado Deep Conditioner Masque. She was in Whole Foods this weekend when she picked up one of their travel size packets for $1.99.

Photobucket

Leslie (that’s her name) said that this product leaves her thick curly curls soft, easy to get her comb through, and after her hair dries it’s gleaming with shine, and luster.
She loves it, and begged me to let you beautiful mamas know about it

Have you tried Earth Science?

I haven’t, and am going to grab a packet today.

L'Oreal Hip Color Press Glosses

Photobucket

I love glosses. As you guys know. I’m a huge fan, and have way too many in my bag. The interior of my bag is about 50 different colors because of all the glosses that have leaked. I’m really loving L’oreal Hip Color Pressed in 180/Swanky. It’s two shades. One shade is a peachy nude, and the other is a bright pink. You mix these two shades and Wala! The mix creates a stunning sheer pinkish glittery nude dream! It’s such a beautiful shade together. I love it. The consistency is thick, but not sticky thick. (My hair won’t get stuck to my lips with this one. I hate that.) I love how delish this taste too. Kind of like butterscotch. I have this LL Cool J habit where I lick my lips constantly. But even after licking my lips, the shade still lingers, which is great. DE highly recommends this.

DE

THINK BIG OR DON'T THINK AT ALL

As you guys know, I’m a huge believer in positive thinking. Negative thoughts lead to nothing but negative experiences but positive thoughts can lead to amazing realities. It’s hard for many people to think positive when they’ve had so many negative experiences. My life hasn’t been always great (it’s still not) but I never allow that to get me down. I know as long as I believe in myself, and in my purpose, everything will come to place. This weekend though, I had a moment of self-doubt. Recent lay-offs in my industry had me really doubting my reporting dream, and left me wondering if maybe I was taking the right path. I started to research “safe” careers like nursing, and wondered if maybe I should stick to that instead. The doubts haunted me for around two hours but then I picked up one of my favorite books.

Photobucket

I read it all over again and realized how valuable this book was to me and of course DE had to share it. Yes the economy is bad, yes all industries are having lay offs but that has nothing to do with your abilities. After finishing this book (for the 20th time) my doubt disappeared immediately. I’m aware of the bad times but I’m also aware of my capabilities, and I know that the belief in myself, and in what I’m able to do, will lead me to find my way in this field. The book has so many powerful passages, that I’d like to share with you.

1) Eliminate the word impossible from your thinking and speaking vocabularies. Impossible is a failure word. The thought “it’s impossible.” sets of a chain reaction of other thoughts to prove you’re right.
2) Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, your mind will find the way to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to solution.
3) Don’t look at your faults and think to yourself, “Here’s another reason I’m a loser.” Instead view them as mistakes and think “Here’s another way to make me a bigger winner.”

This book is one of the most motivational books I’ve ever read (and I’ve read it many times.) Seriously, pick it up. You will love it.

HOW DO YOU KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED?

How was your weekend?

DE

Embrace Your Beauty-No Matter How Old You Are!

Photobucket
Halle Ten Years Ago

It's sad, but I believe the media and society have women believing as we get older our sexiness and beauty diminish. Not only that, but we’re also made to feel that wrinkles are abnormal, and we should immediately get rid of them by resorting to some plastic surgery just so that we can keep ourselves looking young and youthful, and sexy. (If you watch Real Housewives of NJ, and saw Danielle getting botox, and lip injections, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.) As a result, many women dread getting older. I’ve never been a fan of many of Halle Berry’s movies (except X-men and Dorothy Daindridge) but lately, I’m paying more attention to her because I like what she represents. No doubt, when you look at her, she takes your breath away. The woman is a vision. She got recognition last year as being the sexiness woman on earth, and I believe this weekend Spike TV gave her an award for 10 years of sexiness. I’m glad that society is starting to recognize that just because a woman gets older, does not mean that she looses her appeal. Halle is in her early forties, and in my opinion looks better than when she was in her thirties. She recently cut her hair, and I was astounded at how breath taking she looked. Halle shows us that although you’re getting older, doesn’t mean you have to give up your sexy crown. Oh and don’t even try to give me the excuse that Halle probably gets the best treatments on earth and that’s why she looks so young, because my Mommie is a great example of a woman who is sixty and looks like she’s in her thirties. You know what mommie does, she takes good care of herself. Love yourself, and know that you can be beautiful at any age, no matter what anyone wants you to believe

How do you maintain your sexy?

I come home, give myself scalp massages, and facial massage, and I workout every other day. I'm also training right now to run the NYC marathon.
