De's Loving Kim Kardashian's Perfume

Photobucket

I must admit that I do love Kim Kardashian.  Keeping up with the Kardashians is one of the few shows that I  look forward to watching every week. I love seeing how strong her family is and how they stand by  each other no matter what. It reminds me of my own family. I’ve also met Kim before, and she was just a very sweet and humble person.

DE and Kim

So honestly, I was a little nervous to try her fragrance. If it stunk, I would have been highly disappointed. But after testing it out, I’m super pleased and think this will be my new signature scent. The notes are listed as Mandarin, Honey Suckle, Orange Blossom, Pink Jasmine, Tuberose, Sensual Spice, Lush Gardenia, Jacaranda Wood, Tonka Bean, Vanilla Orchid, Sexy Musk, Creamy Sandalwood. But the two notes that truly stands out are the gardenia, and tuberose.  I’ve mentioned before that gardenia is one of my favorite scents but when tuberose is added, it’s a seductive  and feminine combination (Mr. DE is loving this!). The scent does kind of remind me of Michael Kors, but Kim’s fragrance  is much more toned down. (I've always thought Michael Kors scent was way too strong.)  The chemistry between this fragrance and myself is magnetic, and the staying power is is something to brag about. One spritz on my neck lasted the whole day and I received more than my fair share of compliments.

FYI: Kim will be at 4 Sephora Locations from February 4-27. If you buy any one of her bottles, you will receive an autographed pic taken with kim.

Amber Rose

I don’t know what it is about this woman, but she absolutely intrigues me. Not sure if it’s that that golden buzz cut, or the fact that she walks around with so much confidence that it slaps you in the face, or because she has the most luminous and beautiful skin I ever laid eyes on. Apparently I’m not the only one who can’t get enough of her, as shes been seen in massive ads lately, and many are calling her a “style icon”. Not sure if I would go that far just yet, (but then again, I’m not really a fashionista, more into beauty stuff) but she is a definitely a force to be reckoned with. Although her recent look at the Chanel Haute Couture show wasn’t really my favorite.

Anyway, I recently read her beauty secrets in Elle Magazine.com and was kind of in shock. Here’s the article in it's entirety written by Johanna Cox, but if you don’t want to read the whole thing, here’s a quick summary.

The most surprising thing to me-she does not sleep or drink water regularly. She is extremely blessed to have skin so fabulous then
To keep her skin fabulous, she buys African shea butter from the street vendor, microwaves it, and rubs it all over her scalp, face and body every single night.
For zits, she uses neosporin.
Her preferred face cleanser is a bar of dove soap.
Her favorite Listick  is from a company called Mona Lisa and the shade is Hot pink. The price- an astounding $1.99

Don’t I always tell you that beauty can be affordable.

What are your thoughts on Ms. Rose?

Essie's Spring 2010 Collection is Pure Perfection.

Can you believe spring is almost here. I’m so excited. I hate the NYC cold weather. Nothing makes me happier than to walk around the city in spring, looking at all the beautiful bright flowers blossoming, and wearing colorful dresses  with dazzling polish on my fingers and toes. Essie’s new spring collection is just what the Doctor ordered. Essie Weingarden, the founder of Essie, was inspired by the Spring 2010’s fashion shows which were an array of body clinging pieces in never ending shades of lilac, rose and certise. It reminded her of the pop art fashion explosion. Well her inspiration is definitely our gain.  These colors are absolutely beautiful, and I have more than 1 favorite.

Here is the collection revealed:

Essie Lilacism- A Gorgeous Smooth Lilac. Reminds me of Fergie’’s dress at the Golden Globes!
Photobucket

Essie’s Red Nouveau: There is nothing sexier than a bright fiery red. This is one of my favorite colors.
Photobucket

Essie's Neo-Whimsical-A beautiful and sensual rose lilac.
Photobucket

Essie’s Pop Art Pink-A Sheer Elegant Pink
Photobucket

Essie’s Tart Deco-A gorgeous Coral.
Photobucket

Essie’s Van D’go-A pure Pink.

What's your favorite color in this line?

Do you love it?

De's Going Nuts For Mimosa Bouquet

Photobucket

Sephora has this really funny system. While you’re waiting on line to purchase something, they got these plastic little boxes around the line,  where they keep all these  miniature products, so why you’re waiting to buy something else, another product will tempt you, and you’ll purchase that too. How genius! How sneaky!   I’ve told myself many times I will not fall for this, but I always end up picking something up. One of my most recent purchases while waiting to buy  a new hair product (that was crap by the way) was this adorable little alcohol-free perfume by this company called Nuts Cream Perfume.  The scent I Purchased was Mimosa Bouquet. Oh my God, this smells so incredibly yummy!  It’s a mix of orange blossom but with a strong note of gardenia in it. (Gardenia is one of my favorite fragrances). I’m obsessed with this. I have gotten so many compliments on this fragrance. Another thing I love about this brand is that their perfumes are phthalate free, and contain no sulfates, petro-chemicals, synthetic dyes, triclosan, gmo, ppg, mea, dea, tea, or formaldehyde donors and all the products are cruelty free. My only con with this product is the longevity. I would say it gave me about a good three hours, and then the scent wanes and I have to reapply. But it's so worth it.

Meet My new Favorite Mascara-Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous

 Photobucket

You guys know how much I love great drugstore beauty finds. Recently, I ventured to Walgreens to pick up something when I noticed that the new Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous was on sale for $5.99. (I believe the sale last till this Saturday so seriously run over there, I purchased 4 of these.) Beauty Guru Sam Fine told us that you no longer have to go to higher end stores to purchase mascara-and I so agree because let me tell you, this mascara has knocked the socks off of many of my higher-end ones.

The first Lash Stiletto was fantastic too, but this one is really amazing because not only does it increase the length but it gives you some serious volume.

Photobucket

The brush is pretty thin with medium bristles attached, nothing too crazy. But you know what they say; it’s the ones you never think would do it, that do it (well that’s what they say about men cheating, but lets apply that rule to this mascara).

Here’s my lashes before the mascara!

Here are my top lashes after 1 coat

Enough said!

This mascara is currently on sale for $5.99 till Sat at Walgreens. Run and get it!

How Makeup Artist Vera Steimberg Made Zoe Saldana a Golden Globe Beauty!

 Photobucket

When I spotted Zoe Saldana at the Golden Globes, I was in awe of her. She looked absolutely stunning. From the dress to the makeup everything about her was flawless. We got a chance to  get the deets on Zoe’s look from her very talented Makeup artist Vera Steimberg (also the makeup artist for the Twilight Series). Here’s how Vera prepared Zoe for her big night.

Photobucket

Vera tells us "Since the dress she was wearing was so stunning, I had to decide if I wanted to emphasize her lips or her eyes. The eyes won and I kept her lips neutral!

Zoe's foundation was Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage # 6 , and the YSL Radiant Touch, which is a very natural looking and incredible product! I then used RCMA Translucent Powder   all around her face to set the make up without changing the color.

For her eyes I started with Bobbi Brown Black  Gel Eyeliner  and used the Chanel Eye Gloss Palette, the black one for above the liner and the edge of the eye.

Also the Guerlain Ombre Eclat 4 Shade Palette . I used the darker shades to countour the eyes and to give a hint of warmth.

On the center of the eye I used Mac Elite Veluxe pearl, which is also great as a shimmer highlight for the face.

The eyelashes I used were  Kre Beauty Lashes  .....they look natural and they are fantastic, and then we finished the eyes off with some Chanel Mascara

For the cheeks I mixed the peach cheek and lips from Julie Hewitt to start  and finished with the Laura Mercier Second Skin Powder Spiced Cider Blush.

On her lips I used Christian Dior Kiss 741 "

Walaa, there you have it, Zoe transformed into a Golden Globe Beauty

Thanks Vera,

Arguing for Beauty & Sphatika Skin Care

  Photobucket

Mr. DE and I seem to be arguing a lot lately about my beauty products. He seems to think because we share a bathroom that he can use my most prized beauty possessions. Normally I don’t care, but these two new products have made such a difference in my skin that not even the man that stole my heart can touch them.

Sphatika

Photobucket

Remember when we spoke to actress Anika Noni Rose and she mentioned Sphatika products. Well Anika had some amazing skin, and since I had never heard of Sphatika, I knew I had to try them.  Once I found out their spa was a few blocks away from my home, I ran over there and purchased some stuff and I am so in love now.

The two products  I got were the Sphatika Citrus Cleansing Foam, and the Sphatika Treatment Serum. The Sphatika line is a holistic line of beauty products. All of the ingredients are 100% natural botanicals.

Sphatika Citrus Cleansing Foam

First of all the facial wash is so luxurious. It’s a thick gel consistency, and smells so delish like a potent mix of oranges, and tangerines.  In the morning, I'm always super sleepy but the scent of this wakes me right up. This is such a gentle but effective cleanser. It's a natural mix containing pure aloe vera, grapefruit, lavendar oil and other essential oils,   It removes every single trace of my makeup, without being harsh at all. I hate cleansers that leave my skin feeling a dry tight mess. After washing with this, my skin feels so super soft and moisturized. I believe the citrus oils in this  also help with the lightening of my hyper pigmentation.   Mr. De, can’t get enough of this stuff.  He actually uses this as his shaving cream, and swears that it has helped control his ingrown hairs better than any other product. If he keeps touching my stash though, he'll be out on the street. (just kidding...sorta)

Sphatika Treatment Serum

After the citrus facial wash, this is just what my skin needs. I absolutely adore this product. Loaded with peppermint oil, tea tree oil, aloe vera, camphor, chamomile and other essential oils, this product leaves my skin (and Mr. De’s) feeling so incredibly refreshed. The product says you can use it as a makeup primer, and I’ve  been doing just that. My makeup application goes on like a dream , and this sinks right into my skin. Also, I'm noticing my t-zone which can get greasy, does not get greasy at all when I use this. I believe all skin types can use this fabu product. Mr. De claims that this product cools down the irritation of shaving and that's why he must use it. Well I tell him, buy your own stuff and keep off of mine.

Have you heard of Sphatika?

Have you tried the line?

Am I being greedy?

Did you see Penelope, Zoe, and Halle. Oh my Goodness! Also, a new drugstore mascara is rocking my world, and a new natural skin care line is knocking my socks off. It's so good, Mr. De and I have been arguing because he's constantly stealing my stash. When a product really works, I want it all to myself.

Also, remember It's been a week since the earthquake in Haiti. Please remember to donate what you can. These people need it.

Help Haiti!

There was no way  I could have talked beauty today. My heart is heavy. Heavy for Haiti.  Since I work in the news business, when the quake first hit on Tuesday, we were one of the first to get video of the damage fed to us. Nothing could have prepared me for what I was going to see. The images destroyed my heart. Children lay dead on the street, parents crying over their lifeless bodies. Children some looked to be as young as  two-years old wandering the streets aimlessly, crying and screaming, searching for anyone who could help them. Hundreds of people walking, the streets, many of them in horrible pain  shouting the names of their family members whom were either already dead or were missing. Buildings were completely flattened by the magnitude of this 7.0 Earthquake. Since Tuesday, the images have only gotten worse. I have many Haitian friends who are in despair. They have been calling Haiti, but to no avail. They have no idea whether their loved ones are  living or dead. Can you imagine feeling such despair? Such desperation? To not know if the persons you love are still breathing or not.

I implore you today to look into your heart, and help these people. This contry has always been poor, and the devastation of this quake, will only make their situation worse.
Contact your local Red cross. Here is the link www.redcross.org Ask them how you can be of assistance. Wyclef John’s charity Yele has been a strong force in sending assistance to Haiti. Here is the website http://www.yele.org/

Rosario Dawson Book Of Eli Premier

I’m a huge fan of the beautiful Rosario Dawson. Not just because I’ve heard we look alike –not sure about that resemblance, but hey, she’s gorgeous, so I’ll take it. But, because her first movie Kids was a movie that was extremely big in my youth, and I love the story on how she got discovered. She was just hanging out on her lower east side stoop when the director saw her star power. How cool is that? Why can't that happen to me? (Note to self: will hang out in front of my building all day tomorrow-hey you never know, lol.) Anyway, 13 years later, she’s a huge Hollywood star. Yesterday Rosario attended The Book of Eli Premier. I’m a huge fan of Denzel’s so you know I’ll be seeing that film.

I’m loving her gorgeous dress, and the gorgeous purple shoes that she opted to wear with the outfit. It just adds so much ooph to it. I also love Rosario because I feel like her makeup tastes are just like mine. I’m a makeup fiend, but I never over do it. Many times you can barely tell I have any on (but believe me it’s there). She always seems to have gorgeous neutral shades on, and it look so simple but  still so stunning.

Cheers to Rosario

Do you love her outfit?

Are you a fan of her makeup style too?

Oils 101-Argan Oil

You guys know how psycho in love I am with my hair, and how much I adore using natural oils to keep her pretty. But with all these different oils to choose from, how do you know what's right for you or which ones really work or are just hype? Once a week, we'll talk about a specific oil. This week we begin with Argan Oil.

Argan oil has taken the US hair industry by storm. It's an incredibly rare oil only available only in the southwestern part of Morrocco. It grows from the seeds of the argan tree. Loaded with vitamin E, squalene, essential fatty acids ( so great for the hair and skin) this oil is truly wondrous. Berber women (group indigenous to morocco) are responsible for the production of the oil which is a lengthy and arduous process. A great benefit of the increased popularity of the oil is that these poor and hardworking women are now being represented by many women groups, and are getting many benefits including health care and education. I'm loving that this product not only works for beauty, but helps to fight poverty in Morocco.

I adore Argan oil, and it's nutritional value can't be denied.Although many of us just use it for the hair, it is also known for doing wonders on the skin. Here are a few products that contain Argan oil.

Derm organic Sulfate Free Argan Oil Shampoo

Photobucket
I haven't tried this yet, but have heard great things, and plan to get my hands on it.

Macadamia Oil

Photobucket

This oil is a mixture of Argan and Macadamia oil, and works some serious pretty on the hair.

Josie Maran Argan Oil Stick
Photobucket
I keep this in my bag at all times. I use it to moisturize my lips, my hands, my legs. It's organic like most of Josie's stuff, and is great.

Kaeline Firming Night Cream
Photobucket
Haven't tried this yet, but I'll have to get my hands on it soon. Loaded with not only Argan oil, but jasmine oil and other essential oils,  this night time treatment sounds like it's just what my skin needs.

MoroccanOil-Styling Treatment

Photobucket
This is one of the more popular formulations. I've tried it and loved it.

Have you tried Argan Oil?

Do you love it?

While I was doing research for this, I realized there are so many brands that are now incorporating Argan Oil in their products. Love it.

TRULY WATERPROOF EYELINERS

Photobucket

It’s kind of crazy how cold it’s been in New York. I don’t remember temperatures ever being so low. The cold weather can definitely reek havoc on your skin, and on your make-up. When it’s too cold, my eyes began to tear up big time (looks like I just finished watching The Notebook). Many a times people have stopped me on the street, and asked me if I was ok, because seriously my eyes water up as if I'm going through a bad breakup or something. Since,I’m a beauty blogger/reporter, I try out different makeups each day so that if I like the product, I can recommend to you. After my cold weather tears, some eye makeups have left my face looking like a raccoon, and I’ve literally had to wash my eye makeup off at work. (I always carry eye makeup remover on me now) Other products laugh at the cold weather and even after my eyes have shed buckets of tears, my makeup still look flawless. These are five eyeliners that are truly waterproof. (I'm so tired of makeup products that say they are and aren't.)

Revlon Colorstay

Photobucket

Without a doubt this is one of my favorite eyeliners. When I cry, this product doesn't pay any attention to my tears, and stays put.

Urban Decay 24/7
One of my favorites, and the shades are so beautiful and pigmented.
Photobucket

Lancome LeStylo WaterProof

Photobucket
Love this, easy to apply, and my tears are no match for this.

Almay Eyeliner Black
Photobucket
I'll be the first to admit, I don't really use Almay products. But when a product says it will last 16 hours, I pick it up, and it does-even after I've been crying a river.

Milani 24 hour Intense Eye

milani 24 hour intense Pictures, Images and Photos
I've reviewed this before. Just Fab, and my tears don't event smudge on it.

What are truly waterproof items that you've tried?

The Man's Corner

Mr. DE has lips that would make Angelina Jolie jealous- full, luscious, soft, and most important never chapped. They were one of the first things I noticed about him when we went on our first date. I dream of those lips. Lol, Anyway, Mr. DE is just like me in that he loves a good high-end product, but if a product is inexpensive and just as good, we'll buy mountains of it. Mr. DE has used the same two lip protectors in his beauty arsenal for years. They’re both affordable, and work wonders. I'm noticing how well they work because I've been trying other ones lately in the freezing NYC Cold (that are a lot more expensive) but my lips are looking like a chapped mess while his are smoother than a baby's bottom. Here are the two that he swears by.

1)Carmex Lip Balm
Photobucket

We have over 30 of these all over our house. The man can’t go anywhere without one of these in his pocket.

2)Dessert Essence Lip Rescue

Photobucket
This stuff is loaded with Jojoba Oil, Aloe vera, and Tea tree oil. This combination= never chapped luscious lips.

He swears by both.

What do you do to keep your lips chapped free during these cold winter months?

Macadamia Oil For Hair & New Giveaway!

I have a few obsessions in life. Some of them are, my family, Mr. DE, reruns of The Golden Girls and Frasier, eye shadows, central park in the summer, and of course, my hair. She’s my pride, my joy, the other love of my life and I take insanely good care of her. Recently, I was given the opportunity to try a new hair product called Macadamia oil. As I’ve mentioned before, oils are amongst the most effective hair formulas. Seems like everyone’s agreeing with me. The new product Macadamia Oil is a mixture of Argan oil (which is the ingredient in Moroccan oil and one of the rarest oils in the world) but it also includes Macadamian Nut Oil which is an oil found in the South Pacific, and has a very high amount of oleic acid and actually mimics the natural oils in your hair. Oleic acid is one of the most nourishing ingredients for your hair.

Photobucket

I tried the Macadamia Healing Oil which is described as the “Queen Bee” of the products. (Please note this product contains silicones so if you don’t like silicones, this may not be for you.) I used it right after washing my hair, and right before blowdrying. The consistency of this product is almost like a hair serum so this product absorbed right in. As I began blowdrying, the shine was clearly evident, and when I finished, my hair was gleaming, and very full with super bounce. Something I noticed about this stuff is even after I slept over my parents house for a few days, and they don’t have silk pillows (so important for keeping the shine to your hair), my hair was still looking super fresh, and oh so brilliantly shiny.

Have you tried this?

What oils do you love?

You girls know I"m not greedy. I want to give you a chance to try this too. I'm giving away the Macadamia Healing Treatment Oil and the Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Masque to one lucky reader.

Makeup Master Sam Fine's Top 5 Under $20.00 Beauty Items & New Giveaway!

Photobucket

The New Year begins, so let's start it right. Words can’t describe the respect and admiration that I have for Sam Fine. The man has performed his makeup magic on some of the biggest celebrities of all time. The way he works a makeup brush is unbelievable. Over the summer, I went to his DVD release party, and A list celebrities like Vanessa Williams, Taraji P Henson, and Wendy Williams were all there celebrating this man’s greatness. As you guys know, I’m one of the biggest believers that beauty doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Sam was kind of enough to give beautylogic the deets on his Top 5 Beauty Products for Under $20.00. So without further ado, let’s begin.

Makeup Master Sam Fine's Top 5 Beauty Products Under $20.00

Iman Cosmetics Luxury Pressed Powder ($15) – “I love this product because it has a range of colors and offers great coverage. It alleviates shine and makes skin consistent in both color and texture. To apply, use a powder brush – swirl, tap and apply.”

CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer ($8) – “This bronzer is great because it will bring luminosity to the skin and can take the place of blush. It is subtle, without a lot of shimmer, so it looks natural. To apply, use a powder brush and apply to the outer perimeter of the face, near the hairline, and bring it softly into the cheek area.”

L’Oreal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara ($6.99) – “Drugstore brands have mastered mascara, there is no need to go to a department store for this. They have great formulas and brushes. My favorite is the L’Oreal Voluminous in the Waterproof formula.”

Black Opal Flawless Concealer ($4.75) – “It’s a great concealer because it’s a consistent formula – enough to use a small amount on even the smallest of blemishes. It’s also great for under eyes because it gives coverage and highlight. You always want a concealer that can cover blemishes quickly and easily so you don’t have to apply too much, and that’s what this concealer does! The color range is great. It’s also fragrance-free and hypo-allergenic.”

Wet n Wild Lip Glosses ($1.99 – $3.99) – “This is used for layering and dimension. You can splurge on a great lipstick, so let lip gloss be an accent you save on. I love the lip glosses from Wet & Wild – they’re inexpensive, have a great shade range and even smell great!”

As I told you guys before, I went to Sam’s DVD, "The Basics of Beauty" launch party and was awestruck by the amazing women that he's worked with. I loved his DVD, and am giving away a copy to one of my readers.

Happy New Year & Lots of Love

Photobucket

It’s a new year guys How did you spend it? I went to an amazing party on a rooftop, and then watched the Central Parks fireworks. It was lovely. While watching the fireworks, I reflected on life, and how wondrous it was. Isn’t it crazy how fast the years have gone. Ten years flew by. Life will pass by so fast so make sure that you are taking full advantage of it. Enjoy it, revel in it, be happy, make sure you tell your loved ones you love them, but most of all take advantage of your talents. Don’t be negative. Just believe your dreams will happen, and they will.

2009 you were great, but 2010 you will be even better-for all of us.

Hugs and love,

DE
