The Seaweed Bath Co Wildly Natural Seaweed Argan Shampoo and Conditioner

I haven't done a hair product review in a while. It's not that I haven't been trying any. I try hair products all the time. You know I'm all about Hair! It's just that I haven't been that satisfied until The Seaweed Bath Co Wildly Natural Argan Seaweed  Shampoo and Conditioner (man, that's a long name!).  The products are made with bladderwrack seaweed.  Remember seaweed is the Japanese women's secret for gorgeous hair. Click here to see the segment I did talking about beauty secrets from different cultures. (Don't judge me because I keep showing my segment every chance I get!lol) This shampoo and conditioner is the brain child of a guy named Adam Grossman who found that using bladderwrack seaweed really cured his psoriasis so he decided to create a line with this ingredient. Anyway, here's what I love about these products, first of all  they don't leave my hair greasy (which many natural shampoos and conditioners can do). The ingredients are all natural and include Argan Oil and Vitamin E. The conditioner, which is very thick, detangles my hair completely but keeps the body and bounce. Matter of fact, after doing my hair last week, it was full of volume and had some serious shine.  Also, if you suffer from flaking skin or dandruff this may be a good product for you as the Seaweed is supposed to help with that. All in all, I'm really loving this shampoo and conditioner and I highly recommend. I got the unscented versions, but they do have products with scents like Citrus and Eucalyptus and Pepperment.

You can find out more about The Seaweed Bath co here.

What's your favorite shampoo/conditioner?

Milly

Therapy Thurday: Couples Therapy

So you girls know, I'm a little addicted to reality shows. Recently, I've been hooked on Couples Therapy, a show that airs on VH1 and features couples whose relationships are breaking apart. You may know a few of the people on this show like Angelina from the Jersey Shore and her boyfriend, Hulk Hogan's ex wife and her new man, and then there's rapper DMX and his wife Tashara. This couple is the one that really saddens me. It's so obvious that she wants this relationship much more than he does. He admits he cheats. He admits he never wanted to marry her. He admits that he likes cheating, and sadly he admits that he really doesn't want to change. Now, many people I know seem to have lost faith in relationships in general. But, not me. Most of my family members have been married for years. Both sets of my grandparents were married over 50 years (until one of them died). Marriages/relationships can work (if both parties want them to). Now I'm no expert (I've only been married coming on two years) but here are some things that I learned from watching as well as getting tips from my happily married family members.

1) Communicate-Many women seem to think that men can automatically read their minds if they are upset. Not so, men think totally different from you. Totally!! Believe me, sometimes when I'm pissed at Mr. Milly, and I think he should automatically know why, when I finally confront him, he really has no idea. It's important you guys communicate often. Don't automatically assume that he knows what's wrong because most of the time he does not.

2) Intimacy-A lot of my family members read my blog so I don't want to get too explicit, but intimacy in a marriage/relationship is so important. If you start noticing that action in the bedroom has decreased, something may be wrong, and not just in your relationship, but maybe in his life. If men are stressed, many times they won't be able to perform. And girls, because you know I keep it real, make sure you are kegeling. That's super important too. After a certain age, giving birth to children, not exercising, the muscle down there can become super weak, even loose, and intimacy for both you and him can become a chore. (They feel the difference.) Tighten it up with kegels and a kegel device. My OB/GYN tells me that kegeling by itself is not that effective. Better to get a device to help. Email me if you want the name of the one he recommended. Click below to read more.

Zoya Beach Summer 2012 Collection

I get way too excited about nail polishes, especially during the warm weather. Don't you? Today, I'm talking Zoya Beach. Zoya Beach is the other part of Zoya Summer 2012 collection, and unlike Zoya Surf which were all metallic, Zoya Beach are mostly cream finishes. I love that Zoya gives me options! Again, these polishes applied really well with no streaks. Click below to see swatches of Zoya Beach and read my review:

New Zoya Summer 2012 Surf Collection

For the summer, Zoya has released two fierce (do people still use that word?) collections: Zoya Surf and Zoya Beach. I'll be reviewing Zoya Beach later on tonight or tomorrow, but Zoya Surf is undoubtedly my favorite of the two. First of all the richness of these colors is insane. I probably could have gotten away with one coat of all of these.  I had no problem applying any of the Surf collection polishes and that alone is pretty rare. Usually in a collection, there's one stubborn polish that applies streaky, but not in this one. All in all this collection is pretty amazing. Click below to see swatches and as always click on pics to enlarge and really see the colors:

Milly's Anti-Aging Tip: Retinols

So yesterday I went to play the Mega Millions lottery. Don't look at me that way! It's over 350 million dollars! You should play too, and if you win, don't forget about your old girl Milly :-)

$21.49 www.cvs.com

Anyway, I was coming from the gym, my hair was up, and I had no makeup on. Do you know the guy at the counter wanted to see my ID? He said I could be over 18 but he wasn't sure. That made my day, forget my day, that made my week! I haven't been 18 in years. (Although I feel 21!) The fact is growing up, and spending my summers in the hot Dominican Republic sun and constantly getting sunburned, never using sunscreen, I think by now, I should have massive wrinkles, and look like I’m 75.  But I don’t, (that’s why I tell you girls to start anti-aging young).  Now that I'm a certain age, I've started to add retinols into my anti-aging routine.  What are retinols, you ask? They are a derivative of vitamin A and do some amazing things to the skin, like help increase collagen production, help with hyperpigmentation (you girls know I suffer from those) help with acne, and accelerate skin turn over rate. Now there’s also retinoids (they can only be prescribed by a Doctor). Tretinoin which is a retinoid is actually approved by the FDA to treat wrinkles, but I’m all for retinols which are over the counter.  What I notice after using this for months, is that my skin looks a lot brighter and my hyperpigmentation goes away so quicly. I'm blessed not to have wrinkles just yet. The first time you use a retinol, your  skin may peel (don’t worry about it, it’s natural). It's best to use retinols at night too. Now here’s the skinny to my pregnant readers, don’t use any of these because they have been known to cause birth defects. But, you un-preggo girls can get your groove on with these.  Check out some retinols that you can get over the counter.

21.99 www.cvs.com
FYI this week at CVS spend $20.00 on Nuance products and you get $10.00 Extra bucks woohoo!

$22.99 www.cvs.com

Do you use retinoids/retinol?

Which one do you like?

Milly

Therapy Thursdays: The Mindy Effect

When I asked you girls for suggestions for a new Therapy Thursday Post, so many of you sent some great responses. One of them really touched me. I just want to say that I have the most amazing readers. You women inspire me with your strength, courage, and I am so happy to say that I consider all of you my buddies. One particularly strong reader sent me the following letter.  I literally just copied and pasted it, so please read about The Mindy Effect.

Dear Milly,

Since you were asking for suggestions for therapy Thursday, I thought maybe you could talk about women and health. I have cancer, I just turned 41. I am a Hispanic married mother of three kids.   Many times, women can be so busy taking care of everyone in their life that they just don’t take care of themselves. I also think this is even more prevalent in the Hispanic community where women are strong and stoic. So, I would like to share with you something I wrote and shared with a dog rescue group that I belong to:
·
o    The Mindy Effect.
Mindy was a 35 year old high school teacher, wife and mother of three (11, 7, 1). Mindy had a persistent cough for months. She kept saying it was allergies, slight bronchitis, or stress coughing. She took many over the counter meds. She did not go to the doctor. You see, she was busy grading essays, writing school curriculums, taking kids to dance and swimming and soccer. She was busy going to the grocery store, and busy making dinner. She was busy taking care of her husband. She was even busy taking the dog to the vet. Months passed and the cough was still there. Mindy was still busy taking care of everyone else. Finally after too many appointments that were put off, she went. She had cancer in her lungs, and she had cancer in her liver. I met Mindy at the Cancer Care Center in San Antonio. She died September 1, 2011, she was 37.
Her friend made up the phrase The Mindy Effect.
The Mindy Effect pledges that we will take care of ourselves. That we as busy women take care of everyone else and we ignore ourselves. We ignore symptoms in us that if we saw in our spouses, in our children or in our pets we would make sure that they received medical attention. Yet if we are gone who is left to take care of our household? We leave devastation behind. We leave grieving spouses, parents, children, siblings and pets.
I had symptoms for months, I just did not have time to go have it looked at. Now I may not have time. So, make your mammogram appointments, your pap smears, have your moles looked at, have your colonoscopies… don’t wait, don’t ignore. Remember Mindy."

To my lovely reader, You, Mindy and her family are in my thoughts.
And to all of my readers/friends, it is so important to take care of your family, but  remember to take care of yourself as well.

Hugs,

Milly

Dr. Steve Beauty Segment & Makeup Used

Hey guys, here's the segment I recently did on the Dr. Steve show. I had a  fun time doing the segment just because Dr. Steve is so cool. Unfortunately, I put way too much coconut oil in my hair at the beginning of the segment, and  I was super worried the oil would drip down my face throughout the whole thing. Lol! Literally two seconds after we finished shooting, that's exactly what happened.  A whole bunch of coconut oil started dripping down my face. Anyway, for the makeup I had my buddy and superstar makeup artist and Makeup Forever global Instructor Orlando Santiago work his magic. Because this is a day show, I wanted to keep the makeup pretty natural. Orlando gave me some of the makeup deets. He used:

Moisturizer-Embryolisse

Foundation- Kevyn Aucoin and Makeup Forever 170

Shimmer mist spray- Hampton Sun ( golden and pearl mixed) on my face after makeup application and on my arms

Brow- MAC brow pencil

Lip liner-Aqua lip by MUFE 3C
Lips: Guerlain 866 (my fave)

EYES- aqua cream #15 base with Inspiration Cosmetics soft brown over top.

Aqua black waterproof liner

Yves Rocher- brown and black mascara

Cream blush- Kevyn Aucoin Euphoria mixed with one of my fave brushes (Tarte Amazonican Clay Frisky-a perfect coral).

Nails: Zoya Bevin
Dress: Diane Von Furstenberg
Earrings: Rachel Roy

Check out the segment,  and let me know if you have any questions.

I would love to know some beauty secrets from your culture.

Hugs,

Milly

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Two-Tone Eye-Opening Mascara Review

When it comes to my lashes, I don't play! The longer, the better. Even if I'm  just going grocery shopping, I want the longest lashes possible. lol,  Occasionally I do get lash extensions (but who the heck can afford those all the time).  Recently I tested  Estee Lauder Sumptuous Two-Tone Eye Opening Mascara. First of all I love how pretty the packaging is, the gold tube with  the black scripted letters. It's just gorgeous, and the best thing,  this mascara does deliver some serious lashes.  Click below for my review and before/after pic:

Crest 3D White Intensive Professional Effects Whitestrips Review Before & After Pics

When I heard about the new Crest 3D White Intense Professional Effects Whitestrips, I was over the moon. This product promises to whiten your teeth as well as a $500.00 treatment. Well that sounded amazing. I hate to say it, but the last few months, I've been drinking a lot more Cafe Bustelo than usual. My schedule is nuts, and I've been a little worn out, so Cafe Bustelo has been keeping me sane awake, (oh and I always drink 3 cups of white tea as well). Although I do whiten my teeth, the last month and a half, I really haven't done it. Click below to read my review and see my before and After pics with the Crest 3D  Intensive Professional Effects Whitestrips

Styled by June Episode 1

A few years ago when I first started Beautylogic, it was really hard for me to get any big celebs or peeps in general to want to talk to me. One of the first peeps who was more than willing to talk and give me the deets on her beauty regime was the amazing stylist June Ambrose. You can read the interview I did with her here. June is such an inspiration to me. As you guys know, I left a gig in finance to pursue my dreams, and June did the same thing. She followed her heart, and man has she done big things! She has styled absolutely everyone, and now she has a VH1 show. I hope to be as successful as her one day in my own field.  Anyway, we got the first episode of June's show show right here.

Congrats to you June.

You deserve it!

Hugs,

Milly

China Glaze Prismatic Chroma Glitters Review and Swatches

You girls know, I'll all about glitter, and China Glaze's new Prismatic Chroma Glitters are everything and more that a glitter-loving girl like myself can ask for! China Glaze says the collection is " Inspired by the colors formed by the refraction of light through a prism, Prismatic by China Glaze® combines glitter and holographic particles to create the ultimate eye-catching, 3-dimensional manicure." I'm obsessed. Glitter is always a good thing on my nails, no matter what time of year.

Polarized  - Silver metallic sheen sprinkled with yellow, pink, orange and green glitters Two coats with this one, applied very evenly. Love them.

China Glaze Prism-Grape purple holographic gleams with pink shimmer and glitters with pieces of pink, blue, green, orange, silver and gold.  Two coats, and applied very evenly.

jj

The polishes applied very evenly. I had no issues with them at all, and look how gorgeous they are. I'm so happy companies are adding glitter to polishes for the spring.

Although the collection includes six shades, we were sent two for consideration.

What do you think of the China Glaze polishes?

Do you like them?

Do you wear glitter nails all year around?

Hugs,

Milly

Lancome Summer Pink Safari Palette Review & Swatches & Weekend UPDate

Hey loves, how was your weekend. This weekend, was pretty fun, but I'll get into that later on in the post let's talk about Lancome's new Color Design Pink Safari Palette for the summer. This palette speaks to me with it's gorgeous mix of pink, copper, orange-peach and brown shades, perfect for all skin tones, and it can definitely take your look from day to night. Click below to read my review, view swatches, and a look I created for date night, plus read about a cool new NYC restaurant.

Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover

Eye makeup is such a pain in the neck to get rid of! I find many products don't perform as well when taking it off and I'm always left with bits of eyeliner or mascara. One quick note, try never to  pull on the skin near your eye.  That's the first place where wrinkles appear and let me tell you by pulling, and tugging on that area, you are just increasing your chances of getting crows feet prematurely.  Anyway, many times I just use jojoba oil to get rid of my eye makeup but I've been testing out Neutrogena Oil Free Eye makeup remover, and I like it. It contains aloe and cucumber, and I find absolutely no irritation when using it. I love that it removes absolutely every single trace of my makeup with my cotton ball. None at all is left. However, what I don't like: it's described as oil free, but I do notice a slight residue left on my eyes after using and the residue kind of feels like oil..... lol, Anyway, if you're looking for an affordable eye makeup remover that gets rid of everything, without you having to pull or tug on your skin, and that's non-irritating, this is a pretty good option.  And for $6.99, it's a steal.

How do you take your eye makeup off at night?

What do you use?

Hugs,

Milly

PS: Product provided by pr for review, but you know by now if I don't like it, you won't see it.

Remember when we covered Latina Magazine's 15th anniversary  and I asked the gorgeous ladies, on the red carpet what their beauty secrets were?  Anyway, many of them responded that they swore by Neutrogena wipes. Shiseido Perfect Mascara Full Definition Review & Pics

A girl can never have too many mascaras. I own about four of them at a time.  If I'm running out of the house, no matter how rushed I am, I will apply mascara. Lashes can change your whole look-for the better. Shiseido's new Perfect Mascara Full Definition mascara is a mascara that really gets the job done. I'm talking serious length, very minimal clumping (no matter how many times I reapply) and Shiseido says it doesn't smudge for 16 hours, yes I said 16 hours. (I had it on for nine and noticed no smudges.)  Click Below to see before and after pics and read the review.
