Oils 101-Coconut Oil for Beautiful Hair

I always tell you guys, beauty should and could be affordable. My cousin who lives in a 1 room shack in the Dominican Republic, literally takes the coconut oil off of the trees and makes herself a hair treatment every week. Guess what, this girl who has no money, has hair that can rival any Pantene Models. As you guys know one of my favorite and most inexpensive beauty secrets is Coconut oil. For hair growth, hair shine, hair strength, you ladies know how much I love, adore, worship the ground coconut oil walks on. Why? Well one, I’ve seen first hand what application of that oil can do on your hair over time. I’ve seen dry damaged hair, turn to long lustrous shiny hair (yes I’m talking about mine and many other family members) There’s not much to say about the oil except it is proven to work by science. Here’s the link to the study. But I don't care what science says, the proof is in the pudding and in my case, "the pudding" is my hair, and let me tell you, my hair adores this stuff.  Obviously it’s made from the fat of coconuts. The high amount of Lauric acid is really beneficial to your hair and scalp.  If you have time you can actually make the oil yourself. Here’s a link on how to do it too.

Currently Tropical Traditions is the one I've been using:

Give your hair a good scalp massage with the oil about once a week. I guarantee you’ll see a difference.

Although i've been using many coconut oils throughout the years, Tropical Traditions actually sent me theirs to try.

KEEP YOUR HAIR SHINY

Besides length, I think one of the biggest indicators of healthy hair is how shiny and lustrous it is. Here are some tips that I do to keep my hair shiny. Also, I'd like to add taking essential fatty acids will help with shine too, and decreasing use of alchohol based products will as well. Massage and Coconut Oil on hair works wonders too. I'd also like to say a disclaimer about this video. I was exhausted when I was doing it. I had just gotten home from a girls night out, and it was a little late. lol

If you don't want to watch the whole video, here are some tips.

1) Don't wash your hair more than twice a week
2) No sulfates
3) Sleep on a silk Pillow
4) Don't Rub Your Hair Dry With a Towel.

I need new background music for my vids. If you have any recs, please e-mail them over.

Share your tips on how you keep your hair shiny too.

Thanks for checking this out.

De's loving PROFOUND BEAUTY -ANTI FRIZZ

Photobucket

My hair is my best buddy and friend. When no one else is around, I know she'll always be. (Alright I sound a little crazy) But you girls know how much I love and take care of her. Recently I got the chance to try a new product from a company called Profound Beauty. It's their Anti-Frizz Time out Treatment. I must say I loved this. After my stylist washing my hair, I applied a dab on, and she began to blow dry. This product claims that it has something called a hydrophobic complex which is supposed to mimic something in your hair called the F Layer. Apparently coloring, and other chemicals can lead to your hair's F layer being compromised, and you need your F-layer to prevent frizz. Anyway without getting into the logistics of this, this stuff works. First off, after using this, my hair was gleaming. Here's a pic.

Second: The night I went out with this, it was a very humid rainy day in New York. I was going to meet my fellow bloggers at this great party. Anyway, my hair did not frizz at all. Even a few bloggers were asking me what I was using. This stuff is FANTUBULAR (this little girl said that to me yesterday and I thought it was so cute). And stay tuned, I may just be doing a giveaway for a few of these.

Have you tried this stuff?

DE's loving Ecru New York Silk Nectar Serum

Saturday was absolutely beautiful in New york. For the first time in my life, I went sailing. It was amazing. The beautiful water, the wind, everything was just so perfect. I felt so calm and at peace. If you’ve never gone sailing, I highly recommend it. I loved loved loved it and can’t wait to do it again. How was your weekend loves? Anything new and exciting. Did you learn anything? Have you ever gone sailing. Anyway, back to beauty.

You guys know how much I love my hair. She’s my buddy, my friend, my confidante (just kidding, I’m not that nuts) but I do love her. I’m a little nervous about trying new products on her because who knows how she’ll react. However, when I saw one of my cousin’s girlfriends with her red hair looking all shiny and gorgeous, I asked her what she was using. When she told me that she’d gotten her hair done 4 days earlier, and still had that shine because she was using Ecru Silk Nectar Serum, I was hooked. So I got some too last week, and I’m loving this as well. I used this right before I put the my hair in pincurls. You know DE likes to make sure her hair has bounce. Anyway, last week, I got my hair done on Sunday, and didn’t redo it till the Saturday. I was using the silk nectar (dime size amount) in between hair appointments, and even the day before I got my hair redone, it was still shining . I really like this product. It has silk protein from 100% Japanese silk, it’s not greasy at all, and best of all, my hair is gleaming . Now you know when I like something, I want you to love it too.

So send an e-mail to beautylogicblog@yahoo.com with the caption being “DE, you can’t just have fab hair, give me some Ecru too.”

Winner gets announced tomorrow.

Let your hair Shine!

On Saturday for Fashion Week, Total Beauty had Molton Brown in their beauty suite demonstrating their products, giving out hand massages and wondrous hair touch-ups. Now, if you were in NY on Saturday, you know there was a tropical storm that would have destroyed anyone’s tresses. I, of course had forgotten to bring my umbrella, and as I was walking to the Bryant Park Hotel, the downpour came and my hair was left a frizzy, tangled mess. As I walked into the suite, I was greeted by the Molton Brown people. I received a wondrous hand massage by one of the workers. He rubbed this luxurious citrus lotion that smelled like pure oranges, all over my hand while giving me a soothing and relaxing massage. (It was much needed after a day of moving.) Then, the hairstylist saw me and placed me in his chair. He advised me that after he was done with my hair it would look as if I had never been caught in a torrential downpour. He was absolutely right! His secret weapon was the Molten Brown Smoothing Lila Leaf Hair-Gloss.

After he applied it to my hair and began blow drying the shine that I was seeing was mind-boggling. When he was done, he applied a little more of the serum and I was left with gorgeous, frizz-free and gleaming hair. This product is absolutely wonderful for shine and leaving your hair in incredible condition. I had never used a Molton Brown product before and I'm so glad I did.
