New JLO Jennifer Lopez Perfume Love and Light Review

As a Latina girl growing up in NYC, Jennifer Lopez is a huge deal to me. (I’ll explain why later.) So  when I found out she would be on HSN debuting her new perfume Love and Light by Jennifer Lopez, I planned to call in and speak to her and tell her what she meant to me especially growing up. Sadly, every time I called, the lines were full and I never got a chance to talk to her. I was so disappointed but I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her Love and Light fragrance and when it finally came in the mail, I immediately sprayed it on my wrist, and fell in love.

First of all the packaging is so glamorous. Check out that bottle. But, I expect nothing less from her! Love and Light on me, is a delicious  blend of jasmine and musk. There is a bit of patchouli but not an overpowering amount. This scent is so fresh and light and the staying power is great. I have used it in the morning and at the end of the night, still gotten compliments on it. I absolutely hate fragrances that are too strong, and this is just perfect for me.

I’m so happy that this scent worked for me just because honestly I adore JLO so if it didn’t work, I would have been highly disappointed. I have been a fan of Jlo since I was a teen, and first saw her in the movie Money Train. I remember looking at her and thinking “Wow someone that looks like me.” Before JLO, I rarely saw Hispanics in movies, and if I did see them they were usually portrayed in a negative light  But J Lo was something I’d never seen before. She was a leading lady and she was clearly Latina and proud. I also credit Jennifer Lopez with  making Hollywood realize that curves were beautiful. She also made a lot of Latinas, like myself who came from inner city homes, realize that it doesn’t matter where you come from, success is possible as long as you believe in yourself and work hard. Thank you for being an inspiration JLO, and also thank you for making my new HG summer fragrance. I've had Jennifer Lopez on my vision board for a few years now, so I'm hoping I'll get to interview  her one day for Beautylogic. Until then, I'll be enjoying her latest fragrance.

Have a great weekend!

Arlenis Sosa, Lancome & Latina Mag and New Genifique Giveaway

Yesterday I had a lot of fun. If you haven't yet seen my girl Arlenis Sosa on the cover of Latina Mag, please go run out and purchase it. She looks stunning, and the article was great. Yesterday Lancome and Latina Mag partnered together to have a great event to celebrate Arlenis being on the cover and yours truly was there. Arlenis and I spoke for a few minutes, and can we just say that DE loves her to little bitty pieces. Such a sweet, and humble Latina who is giving back in a major way with her foundation. (DE loves good people!)

Anyway, besides Arlenis, I was in a room with so many other amazing and talented peeps from mega talented singer Kat De Luna (Angelica, are you so excited for me? That's an inside joke-keep reading if you're not Angelica).

Chit Chat with Jlo's Makeup artist Scott Barnes

When I think about J-lo, I never ever think about her movies. Although I do love her as an actress, I tend to think of her more as a make-up icon. I don’t think anyone was rocking nude shining lips before J-lo did it, and who could forget her fabulous glow. I remember when I first saw J-lo in person. It was about seven years ago. I was a seatfiller at the mtv music awards. She walked by me, and I remember looking at her and thinking, wow, this woman is flawless. Everything about her was perfect. I’m sure a lot of her looks is genetic, but the man responsible for the makeup is her long time makeup artist Scott Barnes. Scott was kind enough to chit chat with beautylogic, and he’s coming out with a new book in January. I’m so excited about it! Thanks Scott for answering some questions

1) You are known for being the man who gave jlo her amazing glow, what can we do to achieve the same glow?
Make sure to Use Body Bling. I made it easy to achieve that glow. ☺

2) How did you begin working with JLO?
We met at an Instyle shoot ten years ago.

3) What are your must have beauty products in your make-up bag?
Must haves are my Shu Uemera eyelash curler, mascara and a Maybelline black eye pencil.

4) What products do you think are universally flattering on all women?
All women can wear some Pinky peachy blushes and lip gloss with a slight lip tone

5) What beauty product do you think all women must have?
Moisturizer is very important. A great one is definitely La mer.

6) What is the best piece of beauty advice you can give us?
Why stop at the face when you can do the whole body.
