Massage with Y-Y

When Mr. DE comes home from a tired day of work, I sometimes like to indulge him in a massage. For a while growing up, I thought I would become a massage therapist because I loved giving massages. From the time I was 10, massages fascinated me and I would read voraciously about the correct techniques, the acupressure points, and the body so I could become an expert at it. I also did it, because my Abuelo (Grandfather) had Parkinson’s disease and the only time he ever felt better from his chronic leg shaking was when I would massage his legs. I would spend hours massaging them while he talked about Dominican Republic’s history and his growing up under the dictatorship of Trujillo (one of the worst demagogues in history.) By the time I was 18, I was known in my family as a self-taught massage expert and I planned to enroll in the Swedish Institute for Massage Therapy, but then my grandpa died, and I sunk in a deep depression and no longer felt the urge to give massages. After meeting Mr. DE though, the urge to massage and heal came back again, because he suffers from chronic shoulder pain. So one day after his pain became unbearable, I began using my hands on him, and like magic, the pain left him. Now I think a secret to a great massage is a great massage cream. I hate creams that leave the skin greasy or that don’t lubricate enough. My favorite massage cream and the one Mr. DE loves is Y-Y's 1000 Cranes Massage and Body Cream.

This has such a refreshing fragrance of peppermint, and spearmint and it contains some really hydrating skin ingredients like Soy, Jojoba and something new I’d never heard of , African Baobab Oil. While massaging Mr. De with this, it offers an incredible amount of moisture but after I’m done, I can wipe him off with a towel and his skin is not left greasy or with any oily residue. I really like this and 50% of this products proceeds go to organizations helping victims of spinal stroke.

Sexy Natural Lips

Hey guys, I’m back. I’ve missed you. I can’t imagine what life was like without the internet. This past week was driving me crazy. Last week I actually stayed 3 hours late at work every night so I could use the internet. Ahh but now my good old IBM is back in my loving hands. I've been kissing her more than Mr. DE. I’ll never ever mistreat her again!

Let’s get back to beauty because I’ve been dying to tell you hot mammas about these phenomenal lip glosses by Aubrey Organics. I’ve already told you guys about my obsession with Aubrey’s hair care. Their honeysuckle conditioner makes my hair gleam! Anyway, I’ve really loving their new Natural Lip glosses.

Photobucket

First of all the ingredients are 50% pure and organic, and their gloss base is castor seed and coconut oil (you know how much I love coconut oil) and they use natural colorants like caramel, beet, and carrot extract. How amazing is that! My fave color is the Ruby Frost (although they have 8 shades). It’s a gorgeous light, sheer, incredibly glossy red, and when I use this my lips feel so incredibly moist and hydrated but not sticky (no need at all to use chapstick before applying!) . I love this!

GRRRR

My computer crashed guys. I am sitting in the NYC public library writing this. I just took it to get fixed so no new post for a few days. I'll miss you :-(

But, I have some great post coming along like a new Dominican salon, some new nail polishes, pedicure set, lip glosses, and a new hair post.

I'll be back soon. By the way, does anyone know how I can get a great deal on a macbookpro? I want to start editing some of my reporting stuff.

Affordable Beauty: NYC Metro Metals

Photobucket

As you guys know after reading Paula Begoun’s book Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me where she claimed that drugstore beauty products can be just as good as expensive ones, I really don’t believe that beauty has to cost an arm and a leg. I personally think N.Y.C makes some really good products for a very affordable price. Their Sun2Sun bronzer is one I constantly wear, and lately I’ve been rocking their Chroma Metals Face Glow in Moonstone, and I love how it leaves this gorgeous pink shimmer on my skin with just a swipe or two of my brush. Looks as if I'm glowing! Plus the staying power is great, and the price is even better.

Have you tried N.Y.C. Metro Metals Collection?

Have you tried N.Y.C at all?

Don’t you love that beauty can be affordable?

Suki Facial Moisture Serum-Nourishing

Photobucket

I was a little hesitant about using Suki’s Facial Moisture Serum because it contains many oils-although all are natural. However, the fact is my skin is incredibly sensitive and one product can make my skin breakout for months (because I’m a tan skinned mama, break-outs leave dark marks and I hate those :-(. However, I did finally delve into Suki’s Facial Moisture Serum and I’m so happy I did. The product is loaded with essential and nourishing oils like Jojoba (the oil specifically known for having almost the same properties as human sebum) rice germ, carrot oil, evening primrose and a few other nourishing natural ingredients. I’ve been using this at night for the past three weeks right before bed, and I wake up to such soft, moisturized, and dewy skin with absolutely NO BREAKOUTS at all!

I really have been enjoying the Suki line of natural skin-care products.

Have you tried Suki?

Eye Candy

Although I’m addicted to all beauty items, I’ve always been a little hesitant about creating looks with eyeshadows. I’m not really artistically inclined so I never knew how to really match colors together. Lately though I’ve been addicted to eyeshadow videos on youtube. So many gifted artist out there (two being makeupbyrenren and makeupmakesmehappy). These youtubes and many others explain in detail how to use eye shadows, and I must say now I’m hooked to the stuff. I also picked up this really cute book called Eye Candy by make-up artist extraordinaire Linda Mason .

Photobucket

If you’re a novice eye shadow user this book is great for explaining what brushes you need, what techniques to use to make your eyes appear a certain shape, and it also shows 55 fun looks (most of them you could never wear at the office but hey who cares?) and explains in detail how they can be created. For the last few months, I’ve been addicted to the videos, and this book, and my eyeshadow game has definitely improved big time. They have this fantastic Cleopatra look that I'll be using for Halloween!

Anyway you know DE’s not greedy so send an e-mail to BeautyLogicBlog with the subject “DE, I want to be an Eyeshadow expert like you.” to win a chance to win Linda Mason’s Eye Candy. Winner gets announced Thursday October 30, 2008

What will you be for Halloween this year?

Are you a shadow expert?

Hugs,

DE
