Neutrogena Shine Control Primer Review

Neutrogena has released their new Shine Control line and they sent over a few things. One of them being their Shine Control Primer. They guarantee with this primer,  that you won't be shiny for 8 hours. If you live in NYC, you know the weather has been so nasty, hot, and disgusting. It's enough to make you crazy.  During the summer, my skin becomes one greasy mess, so when a product promises no shine for eight hours, I'm listening.  This product is a lot thicker than other primers. It's white, not clear, and contains Rice Protein complex which Neutrogena says, " acts like a sponge to absorb excess oil." This product doesn't feel like silicone like many other primers. It's actually pretty thick. It also contains tiny granules. You really have to rub the product on your face to make it clear and to smooth out those very tiny grains.  At first I was like "What the heck?." but the end result is so worth it.  First of all, after really rubbing it in, my makeup applied very evenly and looked pretty flawless and matte. Now, does this live up to it's 8 hour promise. Almost.  In the nasty NYC squelching heat, my skin looked great for a good 7 hours.  You don't understand, that's pretty awesome. It has been HOT!!! We're talking close to a 100 degrees.  But, after about seven hours, I did notice the oil slightly coming back on my nose area.  Would I purchase? Sure, it's $12.99 and I know some primers that cost more than $20.00 that don't get these results.

What's your go to primer?

How are you keeping cool in this heat?

BENEFIT STAY DON'T STRAY PRIMER

As I’ve mentioned to you girlies before, I’m a huge eyeshadow maven. With all these youtube tutorials, I think I have different eyeshadow looks for the rest of my life.  As many of you know when you first apply that fresh coat of eyeshadow on your lids, the colors looks great. Amazing pigment! Bold and strong! But by the end of the day if you have oily  lids like I do,  your eyeshadow colors can look a hot greasy mess and plain old ugly. Primer is key. Anyway, I’ve been using the Two-Face Shadow Insurance for years, but  recently picked up Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer

This is a little heavier than my Two-Face Shadow Insurance.   It kind of felt as if I was putting a concealer on my lid. I followed the instructions and applied three dots to each lid and waited for it to dry.

3 Dots

You can also put this under your eyes, and it promises to adhere to your concealer but I didn’t do that. Anyway, I applied my eyeshadows and walked out the door. Around 3 hours later, I looked in the mirror, and my eyeshadow colors were still going strong. No creasing, and no oiliness at all. Six hours later, there was slight oiliness, but nothing that would make me want to break out my eyeshadow brush and reapply. By the end of my 8 hour day though my eyeshadow still looked pretty good. There was definitely oil present, but it wasn’t necessary for me to break out the eyeshadow brush. I do like this. and I'll definitely use it till it's finished. Not sure if it will be replacing by Two Faced Shadow Insurance.   The thing that bothers me about this product though is I feel like I’m wasting a lot of it.

The pump pumps out way too much product.
It’s annoying because I had to throw the excess out. Nothing annoys me more than being wasteful (actually that's not true, people who blast their ipod music on the subway thinking the whole train needs to hear their playlist,  really annoy me).  At $24.00 I don’t want to waste any of this primer.  This gets about a B in my book.

Korres Primer & Winners of Profound Beauty Giveaway

My skin is so super sensitive, it's ridiculous. Because I'm a tan skin mama, the slightest irritation can lead to me having dark marks all over my face for MONTHS! I hate that! Anyway, I always try to use primers on my skin before foundation. They're important because they act as a barrier between your skin and makeup. One that I am adoring, is Korress Silicone Free Primer. I first heard about this because it won Sephora’s best of the best. However, I never pay attention to that. One of the reasons I started beautylogic is because I got tired of so many beauty magazines, and companies claiming that a product was fabulous, but when I got my hands on it, it usually was a dud. Well this product actually lives up to the hype. What I love about this is that most primers do contain silicone which can irritate your skin, but not this one. It’s loaded with vitamin E, jojoba oil and something called edelweiss extract (not sure what that is). What I do know is that this leaves my skin super soft, and moisturized. I haven't had any breakouts at all since using this. Not only that, but my skin looks super flawless, my makeup application is a dream, and it last all day.

I love this stuff.

Have you tried Korres' face primer?

Do you love it?

Velvet is a girl's best Friend

Face Time Velvet Veil Primer is my new addiction. My boyfriend and I love to go to The Hudson Hotel in New York for some drinks and dancing. Now when I say dance, I don’t mean some slight shaking of the hips. NO, NO, not at all, remember I’m Dominican. I’m talking some straight, out of control, booty shaking, hips gyrating; drop it like its hot, show stopping fun. Although I go through great pains to put my makeup on when I go out with my honey, by the end of the night, it’s been completely sweated off and I’m left with my plain old face;oh and my raccoon eyes of course.

When I first got this primer, I was really excited. The fact that this contains Jojoba oil was a huge plus to me (you know how much I love my oils). Because the structure of jojoba oil closely resembles that of your own skin sebum, it is an excellent moisturizer and is ideal for all skin types without promoting acne or any other skin problems. I applied this primer and then my foundation. HOly CRAPOLA, my skin looked FLAWLESS, I mean seriously, my face looked airbrushed. Even my boyfriend (who notices nothing) kept commenting on how great I looked. So we went to the Hudson Hotel, and danced our sexy butts off. When I went to the bathroom at the end of the night,I was expecting to look into the mirror and stare at a sweaty face devoid of makeup. However, what greeted me in the mirror was not at all what I expected. I was flabbergasted. My makeup looked new and fresh as if I had just applied it. As I wiped the sweat off of my face with a napkin, my makeup stayed intact. This product is a MUST HAVE!!!!!!! And I mean it.
