Zoya Lovely Spring 2013 Collection Review and Swatches & Happy New year
Happy New Year Guys, I hope yours was great. Let's talk more about the new year in a few, but for now I want to get into the new Zoya Lovely collection for Spring 2013. I'm giddy over this collection. You know how I fell in love with Zoya. When I was pregnant, I did lots of research on any ingredients that caused birth defects. I then met Dr. OZ who told me to make sure none of my polishes contained phthalates. Anyway, I found Zoya to be the best phthalate free polish around. I recently went away to the Caribbean and wore two of the Zoya Lovely shades and got so many compliments. The collection contains pastels with hints of metallic in them and cream finishes. I love them! In my opinion, this collection captures the Spring season like no other!! Click below to see my swatches, and let's get into the new year, and your resolutions while we're at it.

Win a 3 month Subscription to GlossyBox Giveaway & Apologies
Today's giveaway is super awesome. It's from glossybox. You guys know how much I love glossybox. I truly think they are the best box service around. You get at least 5 products in their boxes unlike others and usually you end up with six. They also feature brands not available in the states. I still use the Burberry lippy that came two boxes ago! Honestly, you can't find a better box service than them. Anyway, here's the giveaway: They are giving one beautylogic reader a three month subscription to their service. Aren't they awesome. As of now, all my giveaways are facebook only. So like this post and leave a comment on my fb page. Winner gets announced next Friday July 27.
Also, I'm sorry I haven't been blogging as much. I appreciate you guys emailing me asking me if I'll be back soon, but here's my issue: at this point, I'm really going hard to make my dream come true of being on TV. I'm so blessed to be a beauty editor for a Latin magazine, and it' something that has been on my vision board for years. I love doing it and the people I work with are truly the most wonderful people I have ever met. It is truly a blessing and I'm so thankful for the opportunity. But another goal is to be a lifestyle reporter, and I'm going to make it happen. I'm trying to book myself on tv as much as possible, writing new segments every day to pitch, and so far so good. In the next month, I have three coming up, including my first national one (The Today Show woohoo!). I'm so excited about it. But, I got a lot of emails recently asking if I'll ever be doing a new therapy therapy post and beauty posts. Yes, I will. I've got a few beauty coming up, including Estee Lauder's new fall Collection. How gorgeous!
And as for Therapy Thursday, here are some new ones coming, "Stop seeking validation from others" "How to control yourself when you may want to lose it with your kids" and the one I get the most, "How does Milly deal with sadness" because yes, I do get sad from time to time too, but remember, your life is a reflection of your thoughts so if you have SAD thoughts, you'll have a Sad life, so let's be happy. woohoo! Remember you only have one life to live. YOLO! (do you know I just learned what "yolo" meant about two months ago and I had to google it.ha )
Have a great weekend.
Remember to enter the giveaway.
Hugs,
Milly

Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil
I love to self tan. (Shout out to St. Tropez!). I was born brown, but during the summer, I want to be as bronze as possible. But when I self tan, I can't use my beloved Clarisonic so much, because it exfoliates so well, it removes my tan within a day or two. So during the summer, I use my Clarisonic about once or twice a week. In the past, I used these so called, "Gentle Cleaners, but I found that I had to wash my face like 10 times before all of my makeup was removed. Step in my beloved Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil. It's from Bobbi's latest collection, and I'm really loving it. The oil contains Jasmine Flower extract, Kukui oil, and Jojoba oil. With all these oils, you'd think your face would break out. Not at all. What it does do is remove every single trace of my makeup. And believe you me, Milly wears a lot of makeup. I can only use this at night because the scent is very calming and soothing. It smells like there's a hint of lavender in it. If I used this in the morning, I'd probably fall right back to sleep. I actually take a bit of the oil, press my hands together to warm the oil and then mix it with some water, massage my face with it. As I do that, not only am I giving my face a good facial massage and warding off wrinkles, but I'm taking all of my makeup off as well (including my waterproof mascara). Make sure you do a facial massage three times a week, you'll see a difference in your face. What I love about this also, is that it takes very little to remove my makeup. I then wash the oil off of my face with warm water. I'm left with super soft, hydrated, smooth, and makeup free skin, and with the slight scent that lingers, I find myself sleeping like a baby.
All in all an A+ product.
Do you like oil cleansers?
What are your faves?
This product retails for $42.00 which may be a lot, but this oil is so big, it will last forever.
By the way: did you guys catch my bestest on Single Ladies yesterday? Wasn't she amazing. So proud of her,
Hugs,
Bebe Kim Kardashian Line- Backstage Beauty & Show Review!
If you follow my tweets, you know one of my favorite fashion week shows was the Kim Kardashian Bebe line. Everything seemed to work so beautifully together from the hair, the makeup to the collection itself. I was pleased throughout the whole thing.
So we’ll begin with the backstage preview. We’ll start with my favorite subject- hair. The head hair designer was Whitney Blischke. Whitney said the idea behind the hair was "effortless glamour." Kim's inspiration was this Elle Magazine cover and she wanted her models to have the same look-a soft natural wave.
To create the look Whitney used Tigi Spritz & Shine from the catwalk collection and then set the hair with a 1 inch curling iron.
When curling, she wasn’t looking for a large amount of volume, she wanted more of a collapsed soft wave-which gave the hair a softer look. After the curl set, she would use her fingers to comb the hair out to achieve natural looking waves, and set the roots with Tigi’s Dry shampoo and on the rest of the hair using Tigi Your Highness Shine Spray. Whitney says a huge trend is darker roots and lighter hair. By using a matte product on the roots (the Tigi dry shampoo) and the shining spray on the rest of your hair, you will be able to duplicate that look.
The makeup was gorgeous. It was reminiscent of the way Kim used to wear her makeup when she first came on the scene around three years ago. I asked Kim about that when I interviewed her, and I’ll let you know what she said after the run down.
The head makeup artist Nathalie Bechard told us that the inspiration behind the look was the young working girl who works very hard during the day, but parties hard at night. The eyes were the main focus and Nathalie wanted to give the models a gorgeous shimmery smokey eye.The palette that was used to create the look was the Sephora Collection Colorful Artist Palette.
On the lid she used a pewter gray shimmer and then used deep matte gray on the outer edge of the eye. Underneath the eye, they used Makeup Forever Aqua Liner in Star Black The mascara used was Makeup For ever Smokey Lash Mascara in Black and Makeup Forever Individual False lashes.
The skin was kept satiny to complement the smoky eye. Products used were the Makeup Forever Hd Elixir, Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup spf 10, Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch and Fresh Twilight Facefresh Glow. The lips were kept a simple nude. The products used were Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in MMMM, which is a gorgeous muted pink and Sephora Nano Lip liner in Candid Candy.
As I told you before, when I looked at the models, I was reminded of the makeup that Kim used to wear when she was first introduced to the world. A smokey eye and nude lip. I spoke to Kim about it before the show and she said that although we don’t usually see her with that style of makeup anymore because her makeup artist Mario usually always does her makeup, when she applies makeup on herself, she still likes to do a dark smoky eye, and a nude lip. (FYI, Kim in person is one of the most beautiful women I have ever laid eyes on, and super sweet, and her body makes me want to do squats every single morning. )
Anyway about the show. I loved loved loved it! I've already got my eyes and my cash set on 3 gorgeous outfits.
When Kim arrived backstage, I was in awe of her outfit.
A gorgeous gray sweatsuit with a sexy black leather corset added in the middle. How different! Who would have thought pairing those two together would have worked so well. It accentuated all of her best assets. I spoke to Kim about her line and asked her why had she decided to do it. She told me “ I always liked Bebe clothes and I always wanted to create a clothing line but I wanted to create something my fans could afford. My sisters and I all have different body types, so we created something that would accentuate all different types of figures.”

After looking at what she was wearing, I was excited as to what the show would bring and I wasn’t disappointed. There were a lot of grays and blacks in the collection with a few pops of color. The clothes are definitely designed for the confident, sexy, and feminine woman who loves her body in general (that’s me!). (Everything seemed to be pretty figure hugging).I haven't really been shopping at Bebe for a while, but now that this collection is in, I’m coming back. There was this stunning black stretch dress, that really caught my eye. As the model strutted down the runway, I won’t lie, I was already picturing myself in it and it was a great vision.
Have a great weekend!

One of DE’s Beauty SECRETS (Shhhh don’t tell anyone)
Yesterday I went to pick up my friend’s daughter from school. This little girl reminds me so much of myself when I was her age. She’s eleven years old, super shy, full of life, and a huge book worm. Unlike me though she’s incredibly adorable, (I was kind of funny looking growing up). Here’s a pic:
DE at 12
Anyway, currently she’s going through what many of you probably went through at her age- serious pimples. Growing up, I suffered from severe acne. My dermatologist recommended so many things from plain Benzol Peroxide to Retin-a and a whole bunch of other stuff. Nothing seemed to alleviate my condition so of course I was incredibly upset. Like many kids who grow up in inner city areas, I was constantly surrounded by sodas and juices that cost 50 cents and were loaded with sugars and massive chemicals. I would drink about three of those a day. My Mom would warn me that all those drinks were causing my pimples but I never paid attention (who listens to their mom when a teen lol?). However, after years of getting teased and dreading looking in the mirror, I became desperate and decided it was time to start doing what Mommie prescribed. So guess what? I began to solely drink water. All the 50 cents sodas and juices I would buy from the local bodega were thrown away and replaced with this:
Although it was a slow process, my skin got better. My greasy acne filled face finally began to clear up and after a few months of just drinking water, I rarely suffered from breakouts. Now as a woman in my mid twenties, I see not only the anti-acne effects of water but the anti-aging effects as well. Many of my colleagues (who never drink water) look a lot older than I do, and already have lines on their faces. I’m proud to say that I still get carded when I buy lotto tickets. (I only play when 200 million or more.) Hey you never know!!!!!!
Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best ones. If you go to the islands of the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, you'll see the poorest women with the most beautiful and luminous skin. They don't have money to purchase $300 products, but luckily water is the most affordable and widely-available beauty product ever.
How much water do you drink a day? Any beauty secrets or remedies you want to share?

Things You Must Carry at All Times
When I go out with my friends to a lounge or event, I always like to carry a super chic cute small pochette. However, they all make fun of me because the fact of the matter is sometimes my "super chic cute small pochette" ends up looking like an overstuffed bag full of crap. (Many times I can barely zipper it). These are the six things that I must carry with me at all times, or I just can't function:
Mascara sweeties
Nothing opens up those eyes more. I have 6 favorites that I'll blog about later. But this is my classic one:
Lancome L'Extreme
When wearing this, I've been accused of having eyelash extensions-thats how much this mascare elongates and volumizes my lashes. HOWEVER (and some of you may disagree) I find that with the correct application of Covergirl Lash Blast, your lashes can look equally as fabulous (with a way less price-tag).
Blush
I have way too many to name, but these are the two that were in my bag last night.
Mineralogie Apricot Toast
This seriously makes me look as if I'm glowing.
My old favorite is:
The Mac Pink Swoon
Camera
I like to think of myself as The Dominican Sartorialist I take pictures of everything and everyone. You should see the pics I've taken in NY (maybe I'll start a new blog......nah). Here is a pic of one of my cameras:
Sony Camera
Chap Stick
I use a variety of them, but these are my old favorites.
Carmex with spf 15
or the classic Rosebud Lip Salve
Lip Gloss (I seriously have a lip gloss addiction)! I have way too many, but here are two that were with me last night.
Clinique Long Lasting LipWear with SPF15
Mac Ensign Lip Glass
Oil blotting Sheets
Clean & Clear Oil are my usual ones Yesterday in NY it was close to 100 degrees. I saw so many shiny and oily faces. A few times, I felt like passing New Yorkers some of these.
And of course, my Blackberry
Wait, shoooooot, I forgot one more thing. Ooh, maybe there are 7 things I must have.
My small Melange Apothecary concrete perfume of Tuberose. This smells so amazing.
Here's a pic of last night's overstuffed pochette.
What are a few things that you must carry with you at all times?

Beauty of The Week-Vashtie Kola
I’d like to introduce you to my next Beauty of the Week. She goes by the name of Vashtie, and this woman is INCREDIBLE. This beauty has accomplished more in her young life than most people have done in their life time. She has been a director (Kanye, Pharrell & Lupe Us Placers & Chrisette Michelle video), stylist of the Billionares Boys Club clothing line, a model, and the former creative director of Def Jam. She also is responsible for these incredible parties in New York called 1992. I’ve gone to all of them and believe me; they are like nothing you’ve ever seen. One thing I love about Vashtie is she doesn’t let the industry get to her; she stays the same cool and down to earth beauty. Keep a look out for this girl, because I got a feeling she’s just getting started.
Ladies and Jets my Beauty of The Week; Vashtie Kola
What is your beauty regimen morning/night?
I wash my face with Dermalogica Essential Cleansing Solution and hydrate with a Nars moisture creme. I like my face to feel smothered in cream.
2) What’s the deal with your make-up?
I'm a minimalist and don't prefer to wear make-up. although, when i go out I'll apply some black eyeliner, curl my eyelashes and apply some Tarte Cheek Stain in Natural Beauty.
3) What beauty product can’t you live without?
My rosebud salve. It's so perfect and classic.
4) What beauty advice can you give us?
I think, less is more. Don't overload on makeup. I think natural is beautiful. Also make sure to MOISTURIZE!!! It keeps you looking young.
5) What is the best advice anyone has given you (this doesn’t have to be beauty-related)?
Be true to who you are. I think it's obvious, yet overlooked. Everyone is beautiful in their own right, so don't get caught up in being someone else.
Thanks V,

8 Hair Tips for Beautiful Hair
Hey Babes,
I got this from a Dominican Hairstylist website. Here are 8 tips for Fabulous Hair:
1. Avoid shampoos that contain sodium laurel sulfate, or sodium laureth sulfate. These chemicals are synthetic detergents that are used in dishwashing liquid and other cleansers. They are valued because they lather well, but they are very harsh, and can dry out your hair. Instead, look for shampoos made with decyl glucose, or decyl glucoside, which are much gentler.
2. Give yourself a hot oil treatment to deep condition your hair. Warm oil penetrates the hair shaft making the hair more flexible and giving it shine. This can also help to prevent split ends which result from dry hair.
3. Eat right and consider taking vitamin and mineral supplements to encourage healthy hair. Several vitamins and minerals have been shown to help hair growth and condition including biotin, vitamin E, vitamin B, vitamin C and MSM.
4. If you are an African American, or if you have extra curly hair, avoid brushing your hair. Use a wide toothed comb, or your fingers to work with your hair. Brushes can destroy African American or extra curly hair by shearing it out of the scalp.
5. Look for essential oils, herbs and vegetable oils in your hair care products. Essential oils such as rosemary, ylang-ylang and west indian bay help to stimulate hair growth. Lavender and tea tree and naturally antiseptic and help to fight dandruff. Vegetable oils such as soybean oil, safflower oil and corn oil are moisturizing and conditioning to the hair shaft.
6. Avoid sleeping in hair accessories such as barrettes, scrunchies, head bands, etc. This can lead to hair damage.
7. Massage your scalp to help stimulate hair growth. Massaging helps stimulate hair growth by increasing the blood flow to the scalp. This nourishes the hair roots and helps to stimulate the hair growth process.
8. If your hair ends are damaged, give yourself a trim every so often to remove damage.
Hope this helped.
Hugs,
DE
