Hey loves, how was your weekend. Mine was pretty good, although I lost my camera in a NYC cab. I was so upset about it for a few minutes. I had a lot of pics in there that I hadn't downloaded yet, pics of my family, funny and ugly pics of me, but you can't cry over spilled milk. I've contacted the cab people and hope they'll find it. Otherwise my weekend was great. Mr. Milly has been away on business for a while so we hadn't done a date night in a few weeks. So we headed out yesterday for a night on the town. Here's the outfit I had on.
Hair done by Elia Salon (Get the beautylogic special)
Michael Kors Dress (Marshalls)
Mr. Milly didn't take a pic of my shoes but they were Christian Siriano Payless collection. Click here
Bag-H&M
Necklace -Kara (42nd street store)
Anyway we headed out for date night at this restaurant Cuba that we love love love! I always advise couples to def make time for date nights. It's so important. Now date night doesn't have to be going out. Not true at all. Some of the best date nights Mr. Milly and I had were at home with a home cooked meal, candles, great music, and sexy lingerie! LOL, But anyway last night we headed to Cuba restaurant, after getting out of the cab, I realized Holy Crap, I left my camera there!! But after about 30 minutes, I got over it and enjoyed the delish meal at Cuba.
If you go, I highly rec the Shrimp Enchiladas. So yummy
It was delish.
Then after we went dancing, and then headed home.
Fun Date Night.
Anyway, I wanted you guys to watch this video if possible.
My brother always sends me funny youtubes and he sent me vids of this woman Glozell.
I've been watching her videos, and she is beyond hilarious.
She has an amazing following on youtube, over 300,000 subscribers.
Now this video I'm showing you isn't one of her funny ones.
It's the video o of how and why she started doing youtubes.
It's so inspiring.
The message is sometimes when you think something is the worst thing for you, it could actually be the best thing.
Enjoy it!
Tonight I am covering the Latina Magazine 15th Anniversary Red Carpet. I'm so excited. I was initially not invited to cover it, but I got myself in. When someone tells you that you can't do something, don't listen to them. Find your way in when it comes to anything in your life.
Anyway, I'll report back tomorrow.
Hugs,
Milly

Seersucker Brooklyn is a Home Away From Home for this Southerner
So one of my favorite neighborhoods in Brooklyn is Carroll Gardens. It's such an unusual and eclectic place. You can find, great cafes, hipster bars, the boutiques, the dog on leashes and kids in strollers. Walking in this hood you forget you're in NY and think for second your in some utopian dream….and then you walk in to the restaurant Seer Sucker, and you realize in your dreams you can have biscuits!!!
Seersucker is a new restaurant in the neighborhood, its been here since just May, and from the menu to the décor it is a chic southern dig. Me, being from Florida, more exact Jacksonville, is where I grew up, which is more like southern Georgia, I set the bar high on knowing what down home cuisine taste like…and let me tell you they do an awesome job of impressing me!
Most Southern eateries try to over complicate the menu in taste, and by the time you eat, the taste of what you ordered feels like distant cousins or just a totally different dish. But here the quality of food is so high they serve you fresh food with bold flavor just the way I remember Mom Preparing.
I had the bean chilli soup and grilled cheese sandwich! It was so yummy all I needed was a blanket and a fire place! And my friend ordered the open face catfish sandwich with chips. I was nervous to order this myself because I am very particular about how I my fish cooked, and even pickier with my tartar sauce…I am not joking when I say, it may be the best cat fish sandwich ever! I mean this!! It was so good all day I kept thinking “Go back and get the sandwich for lunch again, you know you want it, you deserve it you need it!” The sandwich was so flavorful, and crispy and yet so light I didn’t feel like a heffer afterwards. lol
And to end this heavenly day at Seersucker we had their signature Rice Pudding bowl. So here they sit in front of me rice pudding with dulce de leche pecan pralines, and the seasonal compote berrys! It was fantastic, cruchy yummy goodness and with the classic tunes of the Beatles and Bob Dylan rotating in the back ground, I say once again all in all it was like going home for lunch, and anytime I can run away to get home is heavenly!

NYC Dining -Ideya Restaurant
When friend to the blog actress Denise Vasi recommended restaurant Ideya as one of her favorite Latin spots in the city, I had to go and take a look. This weekend, hubby and I headed to Ideya and we will definitely be back. The last Sunday of the month is Jamaican night, and Ideya had a live Jamaican band playing.
Jamaica is one of my favorite places on earth, and listening to this band reminded me of the many hours I spent on the beautiful beaches of Negril. The place is medium size, and the crowd was a great mix of good looking people. After researching Ideya, I heard they were known for having the best mojitos in New York.
Not the best, but pretty close. I ordered a delicious Pollo Asado which was a grilled marinated dark meat chicken, mango guacamole, and corn; arugula salad. This meal was beyond delicious. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the guacamole reminded me of some that I had when I went to Mexico.
Hubby ordered a pork chop that was out of this world tender, and flavorful.
We then ended the night with the Flan. Let me tell you, Flan is one of the hardest things anyone can perfect, and this place gets it absolutely right. The flan was out of this world. With great food, fab crowd, and wonderful entertainment, Ideya gets very high marks.

Brunch at Sarabeth's NYC Dining
Brunch is an essential part of my Sundays and everyone knows, that New York has the best Sunday Brunch. There are so many amazing places to eat in New York City for Brunch and a place that I adore is Sarabeth's. The restaurant has two great locations. One of them being on the Upper East Side and the other on the Upper West Side. Sarabeth's is famous for their brunch menu and has the most delicious morning drink ever called the Four Flowers Juice. It's a blend of fresh orange juice, pineapple and pomegranate juice. You have not lived until you've tasted this drink.
When I go to Sarabeth's I usually order their yummy fluffy pancakes, but last week, I got their Open-faced Omelette of Tomatoes, Sauteed Onions, Mozzarella and Spinach. This was one of the best omelette's I've ever tasted, and after having it, I had to let you girls know about it. It literally melted in my mouth and after tasting it, I wanted more and more of it. (I was going to order a second one, but my friend was in a rush, yes it was that good.)
The food is so fresh, and Sarabeth's even has their own bakeshop. I love this place.
If you're in NY, you must come to Sarabeth's either their East Side or Upper West Side Location.
You will not be dissapointed.
Hugs,
DE

NYC Dining -The Smith
Saturdays before work, I love to indulge with a good girlfriend for lunch. I hadn’t seen my friend Cassie in a while so we decided to head out to The Smith to get our grub on! I’d heard great things about this place from many people including my beauty blogger sister Lianne Farbes of The Makeup girl. When we arrived at around 1pm, I was shocked at how packed the restaurant was. I knew it would be because the weather was glorious, but hot damn, there were people waiting outside for a seat. It was completely full and the place was buzzing with noise. The crowd was a great mix of young urbanites and professionals. Although we didn’t have a reservation, and it was packed we were seated in around 5 minutes. Cassie ordered a baked salmon benedict and I got a grilled chicken sandwich.
All I got to say is the sandwich was to die for! The chicken was delish, well-seasoned, fresh and so juicy with avocados. It was really tasty. I also noticed they give you huge portions of food. I couldn’t even finish my whole sandwich (took it home). I found myself licking my fingers after (I know that’s gross but hey, it was that good.).The fries that it came with were so tender and not greasy at all. I usually don’t like French fries but these were absolutely amazing. But the star of the meal was the bread pudding.
Although on top it was loaded with vanilla ice cream (which I didn’t touch because I’m lactose intolerant, but Cassie was glad to let it off of my hands) the bread pudding itself was so moist and delicious with warm bananas on top. YUM! The dish truly rocked my word. Cassie loved her dish too.

Here are some interesting things about the Smith:
Downstairs they have a wall, with a few holes in it. In some of the holes you can’t see anything, but one hole shows very old porn movies. It was kind of hilarious and weird at the same time.
All in all, if you’re looking for a great inexpensive meal at a cool spot, with a great crowd, def go to The Smith.
Braai Restaurant-Night out in New Yok
One of my favorite restaurants in NY is Braai. Located in the heart of Hells Kitchen, which is an area full of great places to eat. However, in a city that is full of restaurants, Brai is only one of two South African restaurants in the five boroughs. It's actually the only one in Manhattan. The other one is Madiba which is located in Brooklyn. Isn't that insane?
Braai is one of those restaurants that you have to go to if you visit the city. This a great place for couples, as the place is super romantic, or if you're tying to make a great impression on a date. The place is always dimly lit with soft South African music playing throughout. They had this beautiful South African mix of Sade's song Lover's Rock. Man I loved it! The decorum is beautiful with bamboo, on the ceilings, and authentic South African art throughout the restaurant.
We've gone many times, and the service is always beyond expectation. The waiters are attentive, and always make sure we're taken care of. Their authentic Lychee juice is my favorite drink, and when I used to drink Lychee Martinis, Mr. DE was always stealing sips. The food is beyond delicious. For appetizers we usually get the Venison, which taste absoutely delicious on a skewer with onions, and peppers. Marinated in their specialty cape may sauce, this is one of the tastiest meats, I've had. Always cooked to perfection, tender, and tasty. They also serve you a tray with all their sauces, which include mango or apricot chutney, mint jelly, banana coconut, cucmber yogurt, dill mango (my fave) and mango coriander salsa.
I always get the same thing for dinner. Their Prawns Peri Peri. I love shrimp, and this shrimp is amongst the best I've ever tasted. The prawns are grilled in a delish peri peri sauce. Now although peri peri sauce is known for it's hotness, this sauce isn't that spicy. It's a perfect blend of spicy and sweetness, and I'm in heaven. The rice is basmati -saffron, which is probably my least favorite thing on the menu. As you guys know, I love to cook, and that rice just doesn't do it for me, but the Prawns Peri Peri rock my world.
Bottom line if you're looking for a romantic, unique and delish place to eat, try Braai It's so worth It.
