Some Summer Hair Favorites

The temperature has been cooling down so much lately. In the morning I like to take walks around my hood and I now need a jacket because of the chilly temps.  So depressing! I love the summer. Although the last few months we've been faced with pretty brutal temps, I didn't mind. I much prefer warm weather over cold. Anyway, during this summer, I wanted to show you the  products that I used the most on Linette (name I gave my hair, don't judge me).  So without further ado, here are some summer hair favorites:

Conair  Extreme Heat Jumbo and Super Jumbo Rollers

I love getting my hair done, but honestly I no longer have time to go twice a week and wait three hours to sit in a salon. What I love about this product is I can wash my hair, air dry it, put these rollers on, and in 30 Minutes, POW, fabulous, voluminous, shiny hair, and it's only $31.99. Love it.This was actually recommended to me by the guy who does Victoria Secret Models hair for their shows. He prefers the Conair one rather than other expensive ones. Here's where I purchased mine. Click here.   I also purchased clips for these as the ones that they came with, didn't hold a match to my very thick hair. Here's the clips, click here.

Keratin Complex Dry Shampoo

I work out a lot. Working out is a sort of therapy for me, and running is a mood booster. Since I sweat,  and I also don't wash my hair more than twice a week, to get rid of any grease, or sweat from my hair, this dry shampoo worked wonders, and it left my hair feeling like silk. Love this stuff. However it's pretty expensive. And if it hadn't been sent to me, I probably would never have looked at it. I'm sure you can get something equally as effective in the drugstore. My girlfriend loves Bumble and Bumble's and Tresemme also makes one for much less.

Giovanni ColorFlage Boldly Black Shampoo/Conditioner

I bought this shampoo/conditioner and fell in love with it. It really brought out the shine in  my jet black hair. I was pleased to see that they have this product for all hair colors as well. Buy this at vitacost though. It's way cheaper than at Whole Foods. Click here.

Nuance Salma Hayek Black Currant Intense Hydration Hair Mask

I love this too for a once a week mask. It really left my hair full of volume and shine. And for $9.99, a great deal.(I'm currently doing a giveaway for this item and four other Nuance products for five readers, click here. )

Coconut Oil

My hair regimen would never be complete without this stuff. You girls know how much I love me some coconut oil. When the temps were really brutal, I put some of this on to protect my hair, and give it a good deep treatment. Loved it and have always loved it. But coconut oil isn't only amazing for the hair.  FYI: Do you know Orlando Bloom's wife gorgeous model Miranda Kerr says the reason she has such an amazing shape, skin and hair  is because she drinks 4 teaspoons of coconut oil every day. She doesn't drink it whole. She puts it in her salads and stuff.

It's a 10 Miracle Leave in Plus Keratin

When I actually did go to the salon, I always brought this product with me. It really helped as a heat protectant, and left my hair silky smooth. Loved it.

Alright these were some my summer hair favorites?

What were some of yours?

Giveaway 5 READERS WILL WIN 5 OF MY NUANCE SALMA HAYEK FAVORITES

Hey loves,

As you girls know lately I've really been loving Salma Hayek's new line. I find not only the skin care products to be really effective (I'll be reviewing a lot more this week) but her makeup line is so great. The eyeshadows are so pigmented, rich, with no creasing throughout the day and her lipsticks (reviewing Thursday) and blushes are such high quality, you'd easily think these would cost way more.  As I've mentioned to you before, she really put a lot of time into this not only because she believed every woman should be able to afford quality beauty products but also, because these products were an ode to her abuela (grandmother.) As you girls know, my abuela shaped my whole beauty obsession, I've mentioned her so many times on this site. But not only did abuela shape my beauty obsession, (even when she was in the hospital, she would demand someone comb her long gorgeous black hair. ) she shaped the fact that in life, giving is way more important than receiving.  You can probably credit her for all the giveaways we have on this site. She died five months ago, and my heart still yearns for her. Anyway, because I'm so in love with Salma Hayek's Nuance line, and because Abuela would want me to share,

I'm giving 5 of you readers 5 of my favorite products from the Nuance Salma Hayek Line. Yes, 5 of you will win 5 of my favorites:
Here's what you will win:
1) Salma Hayek Nuance Black Currant Intense Hydration Hair Mask
2) Salma Hayek Nuance Wild Lime Exfoliating Facial Gel
3) Salma Hayek Nuance Beautiful Blends Eye Quad Neutral
4) Salma Hayek Nuance Full Effect Volumizing Mascara
5) Salma Hayek Nuance Paprika Lipstick (One of the sexiest reds ever)

Here's what you have to do to win:
1) You must tweet I am entering @beautylogicblog Salma Hayek Nuance Giveaway. 5 peeps will win 5 Items. http://goo.gl/ybT1z

2) Then leave a comment here telling me you tweeted.

3) If you don't have twitter, just leave a comment here about  a person that inspired you. Was your abuela a huge inspiration to you like mine and Salma Hayek's? Maybe you had a mentor that changed your life. Tell me about him/her. If you did tweet, and want an extra entry, you can leave a comment about a person that inspired you as well.

5 Winners will each win 5 of these items. Winners will get picked Friday night September 2, 2011 by random.org

Friend to the blog makeup artist extraordinare Vera Steimberg has given us the deets on gorgeous Zoe Saldana's MTV Video Music Awards look.

I used Chanel black eyeliner inside eyelid
On Zoe's cheeks, I used  Illamasqua cream blusher in Promise along with a tiny bit of Mac Elite Eyeshadow.

EXCLUSIVE:ZOE SALDANA MAKEUP FOR COLOMBIANA PREMIER

Did you guys see Zoe Saldana  at the premier of her movie Colombiana?
All I got to say is GORGEOUS.
Her makeup artist and friend to the blog Vera Steimberg gives us and only us, the full deets of her makeup look.
So let's find out the deets on what Vera used on Zoe!

For yesterday's premiere, Zoe's foundation was Makeup Forever Face and Body #34 mixed with #18. Now, for the eyes,  I wanted Zoe to have a smokey dark eye. I used  Chanel's Eye Gloss Creme Brillante in black  combined with a  black and dark brown Chanel eyeshadow powder on the corner of the eyes. On the center I used a touch of cream brown shadow from Benefit called "Busy Signal' to add more warmth to the eyes.
I used a black Bobbi Brown Eyeliner Gel on top and bottom and also inside the lid. Then I finished the eye off with black mascara and individual eyelashes .

I wanted soft cheeks so I used Tarte True Love Natural Cheek Stain for the cheeks
And on Zoe's lips I used Tarte Lipsurgence Pouty to finish the look.

Vera, she looked amazing.
Check out Vera's site here at www.makeupbyvera.com
I'm still trying to convince her to start her own blog.
Now that we finished talking about Zoe's makeup, did you see that dress!!
Apparently it was custom made for her by Balmain.
And her fabu shoes were from Giuseppe Zanotti.

GORGEOUS!!!

Milly

Salma Hayek Nuance Beautiful Blends Neutral Eye Quad & Weekend Update

Hey guys, how was your weekend. Mine was ok, but we'll get into that later in the post. First let's talk beauty. As you girlies know, I've been reviewing Salma Hayek's new product line and showcasing some of my favorites. Today let's talk about the Salma Hayek  Nuance Beautiful Blends  Neutral Eye Quad, which I am currently loving and have been using pretty much this whole week.

Don't judge my quad, it fell right before I took this picture. I'm so clumsy

This quad contains 4 gorgeous shades:  1) Toasted Almond-satin shade-no shimmer medium beige color 2) Champagne gold- a gorgeous champagne color with golden sparkles 3)Shimmering Bronze is probably my favorite color-it's a deep copper with shimmer. So gorgeous! 4)Frosted Blush- a beautiful cream shimmer with hints of pink.

Here are swatches:

Left to Right, Toasted Almond, Champagne Gold, Shimmering Bronze,Frosted Blush

I find this eyeshadow quad to be amazing in terms of color payoff.  There is very minimal fall out as well. Here's a look  I did with the quad to take a walk. I used Champagne Gold on the lid, Shimmering bronze on the crease. Toasted Almond above crease and Frosted Blush as a highlight.

All in all you can wear this palette day to night. I love how creative she was with the design of these. I give the Neutral Palette an A+.

Now how was your weekend. Mine was ok. Saturday I did nothing special, then Sunday since I don't have a babysitter anymore (you can find out why here) I headed out with lil man.  I was laughing because the guy who took my picture was being a little too animated.

We headed to a local farmers Market so I could pick up some smoothie ingredients.
Then we headed to a Flea Market.
I was going to pick up a hat
But then I remembered I hate hats on me. So then I moved on to these necklaces. I was going to pick one up but when I went to pay, I realized I had left my debit card at home, and didn't have cash.

So we headed back home.  On the way back we saw two interesting things.
These two were dancing in the middle of the street as if they were at a salsa club. There was no music playing but you could never tell with how well they were dancing.

And then this guy was walking his dog, but not really. The dog was riding on the skateboard while he was walking with him.....

Only in New York people. Only in NY

What are your thoughts on the Nuance Neutral Palette?

Have you tried any of Salma's Nuance products?

Why do you think the dog was on a skateboard?

Things that make you go hmmmm..

Hugs,

Milly

Salma Hayek Nuance Black Currant Intense Hydration Hair Mask

I'm a firm believer that hair conditioners shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. There was a study done that shows a $30.00 conditioner is usually no different than a $20 or less one. Bottom line, You don't need to spend that much money on a hair conditioner at all! Now, let's start talking about Salma Hayek's new Nuance Blackcurrant Intense Hydration Hair Mask. This is another gem in her collection.  First off, I love how affordable it is. It's a pretty big tube for $9.99.  Let's talk about the ingredients in this bad boy. It contains Black Currant, which has a high amount of gamma lineolic acid. GLA is an essential fatty acid known for helping hair, skin, and nails. Papaya Fruit Extract is used in many Latin American cultures for restoring hair health because of it's vitamin content. This product also contains Wheat & Amaranth proteins that promote strong hair and this is paraben free. Anyway, I've used this a few times, and I like what it does to my hair. (I always use hair conditioners at least four times before I post a review.)  The conditioner is a thick consistency.

The scent of this is very light and it's not even noticeable after washing this out. I applied this on my hair and left it on for 10 minutes. After rinsing out, I dried my hair and then styled. I noticed 1) my hair was super easy to comb out 2) After blowdrying, my hair was super shiny and bouncy, not greasy at all.  This product is definitely one of my Salma Hayek Nuance  Favorites.

Milly

Milly & Mr. Milly Guide, What Not To Do After a Breakup

So last week I was heading to Whole Foods when I spotted a young girl crying hysterically in front of the bank. I was about to approach her and ask her if she was OK .(I’ve learned never to ignore people when you see them in despair even if you don't know them.) But then I noticed she was crying into the phone. She was crying so loud and hysterically the whole block could hear her conversation. After hearing what she was saying, I felt so bad for her. I wanted to grab the phone and scream “NOOOOOOO.” This poor girl was begging this guy not to leave her. Her exact words to him were “Please don’t leave me, I love you, Please don’t leave me!” I felt so bad for this girl. How sad that she was begging a man to be with her. After I bought my groceries, I came home and immediately began inspired to write a post on things never to do after a breakup. Mr. Milly was home and he chimed in too. So here’s our list:

1)    Don’t ever call the person who dumped you-EVER! This is a huge mistake. Mr. Milly says if a man dumps you, best thing for you to do is never to call him again. You might think by calling him, he'll realize how much he needs or misses you. Mr. Milly says WRONG.Calling him will make him think you’re pathetic, and even worst- desperate and he will lose any left over respect he has for you. I know it’s hard, but just think of it like this, as soon  you call him, he’s thinking, "she's a loser." If you’re about to call him, call your best friend or close family member instead.
2)    If a man wants to leave you-help him pack his bags. Don’t ever beg anyone to stay with you. You’re too gifted, too beautiful, to beg anyone to be with you.  I know it’s hard, maybe you have children together, but don't do it. When you give someone that much power over your life, it's never a good thing, plus, you shouldn't have to beg anyone to want to be around you anyway. Mr. Milly says by not begging or going crazy over him, you're giving him a strong message that your life continues with or without him.
3)    Don’t social media stalk. That means no facebook stalking them to see who they have been talking to, no twitter or myspace (Do people still use this?). Nothing! If anything get them off your friends list. I know this is hard, but honestly what does looking through their facebook and twitter do but just make you more depressed and sad. It’s a bit of a self-torture Don’t do it.
4)    Don’t go right away into another relationship-After a break up you need time for you. Don’t right away think that getting into a relationship will do the trick to get over him. I don’t think this is always a good idea. Better to  spend time with yourself and your friends and realize what you want, then run right into the arms of another man who probably won't be Mr. Right because you're just looking for anyone to get over that first jerk.
5)    Stop reliving the relationship-Meaning if you guys had great time at Central Park-get the heck out of Central Park. Go to prospect Park. Don’t do things that remind you of this person because that will just lead you to feel more depressed and want to talk to this person. If you fell in love over watching The Notebook together, throw that Notebook DVD out the window. This may sound harsh, but this is what you have to do to get over the person.
6) STAY BUSY! Don't stay all day crying, and day dreaming and wondering what he is doing. Go outside, take a walk, hang out with your friends, go see a movie, go get your hair and nails done.  Go take a pole dance class or trapeze class. Do anything! KEEP BUSY.
7) Finally realize the relationship is over. It's done, and maybe you guys had a good time while it lasted, but this was just another person. The world is filled with people who will think you're amazing but remember in order to find true love, you must love yourself first.

Hope this helps.

Hugs,

Milly & Mr. Milly

Salma Hayek Nuance Flawless Mineral Cheek Trio

Salma Hayek's new product line (exclusively available at CVS) is really speaking to me. First off, the cosmetics I've tried have been pretty great. The fact that her product line was inspired by her abuela who used to make her own beauty products (just like my abuela who made her own coconut oil) really makes me relate to her and the fact that Salma took years off from acting so she could work side by side with the scientists while they formulated these products, makes me really admire her.  Today I'll introduce you to Nuance by Salma Hayek Flawless Cheek Trios.

I love the quality of these products.  Spice is one of my favorites. It contains the highlight shade which is shimmering peach, a shimmering gorgeous reddish brown blush (that looks unbelievable on my tan skin)  and a medium brown shade as well to contour. The blush really warms up my tan cheeks. It's really beautiful. I use the highlight on the middle of my nose, and on the top of my cheek bones. Here are swatches.

Muave is another favorite. Again this contains a beautiful highly pigmented shimmering blush that I believe is a true muave shade. Don't be scared of the shimmer, because it's barely noticeable on your cheeks. There's also another medium brown shade and shimmering highlight. The color payoff for this blush is excellent. One swoop of my brush, was all I needed.  This gives my tan skin such a beautiful flush.  Here is a swatch of the trio.

Currently Salma's Nuance line is buy 1 get 1 free at CVS. I would highly recommend getting these trios. They are pigmented, apply like a dream, and they last long. I've had Muave on all day today and it's still going strong. Highly recommend.

Have you tried Salma's line?

What were your thoughts?

Hugs,

Milly

Life Advice: Keep Positive, Things Will Happen

Last year, I got rejected a few times for tv positions. Well the last interview, I actually got the reporter job but then they found out I couldn’t drive (I’m a new Yorker, we use the subway.) and then they promptly rescinded the offer. I was depressed, angry, and felt downright negative, and doubtful of my abilities. Each time I came home feeling defeated, but then my friends and family reminded me of my abilities, my strengths, and my talent, and then I began to feel positive again. (That’s why I always tell you it’s important to have positive people around you because negative people only contribute to your failures.) Anyway after those bad job experiences, with the help of great friends and family, my positive energy came back with a bang. I realized that just because it hadn't worked out with those opportunities didn’t mean anything. I knew things would eventually work. I knew I had a talent and I knew I wanted things badly and I knew my positive energy, hard work, and belief would lead to something.  Now don’t think that I just remained positive, sat down on my couch  and just ate bon bons all day and hoped that someone would finally realize I was wonderful and call me. No!!
I kept going, I kept working hard! I keep trying. I kept networking, building my contacts, and I’m still trying. This year I’ve been fortunate to have many opportunities come my way.  I truly believe it’s due to me remaining positive, and not allowing anyone to tell me no. One of those opportunities, I will be announcing very soon to you girls and I’m super excited about it. But my advice to you is this, STAY POSITIVE. Even in your darkest hour, don’t allow negativity to take over your life because that only leads to more and more failures. Negative energy will only lead you to be miserable and have a negative life. (I know so many people who live very negative lives and it’s tragic, and a horrible way to live.)  Don’t allow anyone to tell you what you’re capable of. And don’t ever allow anyone to deter you from your dreams. No one knows your abilities better than you.  The most successful people got rejected hundreds of time, but they were positive in their abilities and in themselves, and kept right on going. I love this quote by Thomas Edison.

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
Thomas A. Edison

Keep positive, stay confident in your abilities, and believe me things will happen.

Milly

Salma Hayek Nuance Wild Lime Exfoliating Facial Gel

My sleep patterns haven't been that great lately. Besides the fact that Mr. Milly snores louder than a wild ox, I also have been battling insomnia.  So lately I've been staying up late and  watching  reruns of the Golden Girls or the ID channel (Wicked Attraction and Deadly Women are such good shows.). When I don't sleep well it really shows on my skin in the form of dryness, and zits (not the cystic ones but those little white heads ewww.).  For the last few weeks, I've been sleeping maybe 3 to 4 hours tops and my skin hasn't been looking it's best. Anyway, one product I notice made an immediate difference on my skin when I tried it was Salma Hayek's Nuance Wild Lime Exfoliating Gel.  I love how quickly it works.  It's a thin consistency, and it's scented like pure citrus.

The ingredients are really beneficial for the skin like Wild Lime Fruit blend, Fruit acids, Neem Leaf exract, Mushroom extract and green tea. These are powerful antioxidants, and exfoliators for the skin. In the morning after barely any sleep and Golden Girl reruns, I start by massaging this product on my face for about 3 minutes. It warms up slightly as you massage. I then leave it on for around 5 more minutes. When I wash it off with warm water, my skin feels incredibly smooth, as soft as a baby's bottom and  it really looks healthier almost glowing and it eliminates those yucky whiteheads.

You really see the difference from the first use. For 7.99 you can't beat it.

Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Color Adrenaline

This season Urban Decay has released five super saturated lip colors. I've tested the color Adrenaline which is a sparkly fuchsia. It's a gorgeous color, very pigmented, applies really nicely and leaves your lips smooth, and not dry at all.

Here's the color on my lips.

The color last long too, as I had it on during my morning cup and smoothie, and it was still present. After a while though I kind of wanted to apply gloss over it, just to give it a bit more of a glossy look.
All in all, I like this.
The formula of these and the look reminded me a lot of Milani Haute Flash Glosses. Although there's no real dupe to this color. Hot Flash was probably the closest but that's a bit more red.

Milly

Nuance by Salma Hayek Ultra Shine Lipgloss Swatches & Review

Hey loves,

How was your weekend? Mine was kind of dull, well except for the fact that I had a bit of a tiff with my mother-in-law. It was so bad, she stormed out.  I'm so angry at myself for having that argument. She's my Sunday afternoon babysitter and she's free! You never fight with anyone who will babysit for free! You worship them! What the heck was I thinking!! But today's her birthday so I have to call her. I'm sure she'll love hearing from me.  lol, Alright, let's talk beauty, and let's start with Salma's new Nuance Ultra Shine Lipglosses. I've tried these the three colors seen above, which are Strawberry, Berry, and Peony. Here are swatches.

Strawberry is my favorite color, a highly pigmented almost opaque reddish brown with gorgeous golden flecks. I love this color. Here's me with it on.
Berry contains no flecks, and is a pretty opaque medium pink. Here's me with it on.

And last was Peony, a sheer pink. Perfect for every day wear.

I love that Salma put Mimosa and Mango Seed oil to keep your lips super moisturized. The longevity is pretty good with these as well. I'd say I got a good 3 1/2 hours wear before you could no longer see the color. These are pretty great.
And for a limited time this week you can get them for buy 1 and get 1 free.

What do you think of these lipglosses?

Have you tried anything in Salma's line?

Alright,  I'm going to go call my mother in law. This should be fun.
Will give you an update soon.

Hugs,

Milly

Salma Hayek Nuance Full Effect Ultra-Volumizing Mascara

So we're getting into some of my favorite Salma Hayek Nuance products this week, and let's talk about the Salma Hayek Nuance Full Effect Ultra-Volumizing Mascara. Although this is described as a volumizing mascara, I was very impressed with the length it gave and the minimum amount of clumping.  Let's talk about the ingredients she's putting in her products. Vitamins A, C & E are in this mascara. Also herbs like, Meadowfoam, chamomile, and oils like sweet almond oil, are in this too giving your lashes a silky feel. Check out the wand. It's pretty thick, and  the bristles were pretty far part which I found interesting.

Here are my bare lashes: Not too impressive I know.

Here is my left eye with the new Salma Hayek Nuance  Full Effect mascara

Here are both eyes with Salma Hayek Full Effect Mascara

This mascara is serious business and for $9.99 what a steal.

You can order it here

What do you think of this mascara?

What's your favorite Drugstore mascara?

Hugs,

Full disclosure: All Salma Hayek Nuance products were sent for me to review. However, as you know by now if I didn't like it, you wouldn't see it here.

Salma Hayek Nuance Perfect Lips Lip Quads

You can really tell that Salma Hayek wanted to make her abuela (grandmother) proud with her new product line Nuance exclusively available at CVS. (The whole product was inspired by her abuela.) The quality of many of her products, are definitely on par with high end stores. But as I told you ladies before, Salma took three years off to help formulate these products, to make sure that they were of the highest quality so her abuela would be proud of her. That whole story brings a tear to my eyes. You girls know how much I loved my abuela. I mentioned her countless times here on Beautylogic. (Ok, I'm sorry, let's go back to talking beauty.) I'm so obsessed with these Salma Hayek Nuance Perfect Lips Lip quads.  First of all, the packaging is unlike anything out now. On Sunday when I went to a public restroom and whipped out one of my lip quads, a few women gathered around me asking me where I had gotten such a cool product. These products are great conversation starters. lol

The Lipquads come in two styles, warm and cool. As you can see warm is on the right and cool is on the left. The quads come with two shimmering colors and two cream colors. You can easily mix and match these shades to create countless looks. The ingredients in these products are so amazing for the lips. We're talking jojoba oil (known skin moisturizer) Macadamia and grapeseed oil. Fantastic for keeping your lips hydrated! When you apply these quads,  you feel as if you've applied a lip balm. They are that moisturizing and not tacky at all. The cream colors are so  pigmented too. I got a solid 4 hour wear from my warm quad (which I'm using regularly).
Here are swatches of this palette:
1) red hot, muave berry, 3,plum shimmer 4) sheer champagne
Here is her cool quad.

Here are swatches of the cool palette:

1. rose shimmer; 2. sheer ice; 3. pink berry; 4. merlot.

All in all, these lip quads are great and  for $9.99 you are getting 4 shades in one great packaging, that you can easily mix and match to create more colors. That's pretty amazing.

You can order the quads here

Have you tried anything in this collection?

What are your thoughts on these lip quads?

Hugs,

Milly
