5 Drugstore Products I'm Loving & Weekend Updates & Coming up!

Summer Drugstore favorites

If you’ve been reading me for a while, you might remember a few years back where I did a weekly feature on drugstore products that I thought were such high quality, they could be sold in Sephora. Well now I’m restarting that feature and will try to run it once a week (or whenever I get around to it), so let’s get to it:

1)    Maybelline Falsies Flared-This is definitely my #1 drugstore mascara. Seriously,  I tested over 15 mascaras this season from high-end stores to drugstore and this was the probably the second best one. Lancome Hypnose Doll lashes was #1. This mascara leaves my lashes super long, thick, and just gorgeous and for $7.99, you need this in your life.
2)    Milani Coralina Blush-Quite possibly my all time favorite coral blush. On my tan complexion, this gives me the most gorgeous flush. It’s beautiful. I reviewed it here. I have four other corals all from Sephora (corals look amazing on tan skin), but this summer, I’m reaching more for my Milani than the other ones.
3)    Wet N Wild Pride Palette-I was so shocked when I tried these palettes a few months ago. They were such good quality, for $4.99. The color payoff is great. This green palette is one of my favorites. It's such a  gorgeous contrast with my brown eyes, and really looks beautiful. For $4.99 you need this in your life.
4)    Wet n Wild Liner in 666-I hate that this liner is titled 666. Can we talk about the worst most horrible name ever.  But I’ve been using this liner for over 10 years, and it really is a gorgeous red brown color that complements anyone's lips. During Fashion week I’ve seen this liner in many makeup artist bags.
5)     Milani Baked bronzer-I used this bronzer a lot last summer and this weekend I was cleaning my house, and found it. Yay for me totally becoming a neat freak! Anyway, after applying it on my cheeks, I remembered why I loved this bronzer so much. It makes my tan skin look so radiant and it's uber cheap. I find Milani has some amazing products for close to nothing.

Tell me some of your  drugstore favorites. How was your weekend?
I got a lot of beauty  reading done again. Beauty books, Cafe Bustelo coffee,  Beauty smoothies, and TJ Maxx are a few of my addictions.

I tried to edit my smoothie video but I hate the way I look in the video. The lighting is all weird, and I have a huge shadow on my chin. It kind of looks like I have a beard so I may film it again or may just show you this video since I’m sure you guys know I don’t have a beard. (Well, I do have 4 pesky chin hairs but I wouldn’t classify that as a beard and I tweeze them all the time.)  I also cut my hair. Layers were needed. My hair dresser who never believed in the power of vitamins or internal health is now asking me what I'm using that my hair grows so fast (we just cut it last month). On Sunday, I went to an amazing restaurant called Barbossa in the city. It looks like a hole in the wall, but the food was so good. Seriously I haven't had a meal this good in a long time.  It's Brazilian food and just so delicious!

I can't wait till my eyebrows are thicker!

Then we took a walk in Soho. I saw this painting, and loved it. There are such talented people in this world. The painter of this painting was like a 19 year old kid. I always wished I was artsy growing up but I don't have an artistic bone in my body. Mr. Milly says my stick figures look like Lil man drew them....whatever.  Anyway,  here's me and the painting.

All in all a good weekend.

What did you do?

Hugs,

Milly

PS: Next week, we've got a lot going on from reviewing Lancome's new fall collection. OH MY GOD! so beautiful Here's a pic of the blush.

to some hair products I'm loving, to some Urban Decay fall goodies and more.

See you soon.

Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara Review & Pics

Have you seen the latest Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes mascara ads?
Doesn’t friend to the blog and Dominicana Arlenis look beautiful.
With ads like this, you know I was dying to try out the newest Lancome mascara!
You know Lancome goes all out with their mascaras and this mascara took seven years to make!

I recently got my hands on it and here are some deets. It contains a cone shaped brush, that I noticed really got into my hard-to-reach inner corner lashes with no problem.

I also noticed that this product definitely gave my lashes a great amount of volume and really opened my eyes, giving me that Doll-Lash look. But, as usual, the proof is in the pudding, so here you can see for yourself:

Here’s my naked lashes:

Here’s the right eye naked, and left eye with Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes mascara:

Here's both eyes with Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes mascara
As you can see, pretty much no clumping and massive volume.
Definitely giving me a doll lash look.

I"m sold big time.
This mascara seems like it's a little less scented than other Lancome mascaras so I liked that as well.

All in all, I'm a little obsessed with this mascara.

What are your thoughts?

You can purchase this mascara now at Dillards, but it will be available everywhere in September.

Hugs,

Milly

Lancome provided product for editorial consideration, but look at those pics.

My Internal Beauty Regime

Many times I get emails from you dolls asking me what you can apply on your hair to make it grow, or what you can apply on your skin to make it look younger or stop the breakouts. I believe topical items work, but I really believe, a lot of hair health and skin health come from within. If you're deficient in a certain vitamin, you will definitely see it in your hair or skin. It's so interesting to me how so many women I know take amazing care of their outsides but when it comes to their insides, they don't give it any attention. The best dermatologists like friend to the blog Dr Murad and Dr. Nicholas Perricone, all agree that what you are doing internally is incredibly important for skin and hair care. I'm a little addicted to vitamins, and use them regularly. Don't think that my diet throughout the day is amazing, because it isn't. I'm a Latina girl who was practically born making fried foods and you know I love my meat (although I really did try to stop eating it). So although I don't eat that great, (I'm working on it ), I make sure I'm pretty religious with my smoothie and vitamins. Anyway I'm going to show you my internal beauty regime and let you know why I take each of these supplements  However keep in mind, I am not a Doctor, so if you decide to use these, take at your own risk.

1) Smoothie-I shot the video for how how I make it this weekend. Will post sometime next week.
I love salads, but don't have time to make them often. With my smoothie which is loaded with different greens, and fruits, I'm getting massive vitamins and minerals.
2) Zinc Picolinate-As I told you girls before, I went through a period where my face looked horrible. You can read about it here. Zits, hormonal acne, just bad. Once I began implementing Zinc picolinate, I saw a huge decrease, but remember I'm not a Doctor so consult your doctor before beginning any regimen.
3) Barleans Fish Oil (GET THE MANGO PEACH) Fish oils have so many great benefits, it's amazing. You can use Fish oils to improve your heart, proven to help with mood swings (which I needed help with too because I can be a little moody, lol), proven to help with skin and hair. I love my fish oils. If you're going to use Fish Oils, I highly recommend Barleans Fish Oil in Mango Peach. You will look forward to taking it. I made a mistake and recently got Lemon Zest. I hate the flavor and can't wait till I'm done with it to get mango peach again.
4) Prenatal vitamins. I still take these. Not sure why, but they have become my multi-vitamin.
5) Barleans Omega 3-6-9 Vegan-this contains flax oil, borage oil, and Plant based DHA. Again amazing for skin, hair, nails.
6) When I interviewed Dr. Murad he told me to make sure I added glucosamine to my diet, as it is amazing for anti-aging. As soon as I left him, I ordered some.
7) Co-Q10-another powerful antioxidant. Keeps your heart health great and powerful anti-oxidant.
8) DHA-Good for my brain.
9) Calcium Magnesium. I know way too many women in their forties and fifties who are in constant pain because they didn't take calcium growing up, so now they have osteoporosis. I plan to prevent that. If you are a woman, make sure you're taking Calcium before it's too late.
10) Coconut Water-Amazing for hydrating the skin. I put it in my smoothie a lot.

Alright, ths is it. Maybe you guys are thinking "Milly you're a little psycho with your vitamins." And maybe I am, but this is what works for me.

Remember, I'm no Doctor, This is just what I take. BEFORE TAKING ANYTHING, CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR.

Milly

Current Favorite Cleansers & Winner of Zoya Mirrors Line

I really suffered a while ago when I was lazy exhausted for a few days and didn’t take my makeup off at night.   After having a super clear face for a while, all of a sudden my face erupted in zits and blackheads. ewww . Since then I’ve been super religious about removing my makeup. I’m going to show you  the two cleansers that I’ve been using that have really rocked my world and helped thoroughly cleanse my face and help with getting rid of these zits. Now of course, you girls know that I use my clarisonic to take off the makeup but the clarisonic needs to work with good cleansers and here are two that I think are fantastic:

June Jacobs Spa Collection Cooling Cucumber Cleanser:

1)     I love this cleanser for a few reasons. First of all it’s super thick. One drop, and you can use it to thoroughly cleanse your entire face so this will last forever. It’s also formulated without any parabens, preservatives, synthetic dyes, or fragrances so this is a great option if you have sensitive skin. It contains massive antioxidants like, white, red and green tea extracts combined with goji berry, pomegranate and grape seed extracts and it never leaves my skin dry or tight or flaky. Seriously after using this I’m left with super soft skin, just like a baby's bottom. I use this 5 times a week and highly recommend.

2)     Nelson’s Pure & Clean Purifying Cleansing Wash-I’m really loving this cleanser too and use this two days out of the week. It’s made from homeopathic ingredients like arnica, and hypericum,  It also contains essential oils such as  grapefruit oil and lavender oil. Again, all you need is a drop of this product and you can clean your whole entire face because it's a pretty thick consistency. The scent of this is mint with a hint of lavender. I love it, and find that it really wakes me up in the morning. Also, this really leaves your skin super soft and for under 10 bucks, it’s a winner.

I'd highly recommend both cleansers.

What cleansers are you loving?

Dating Advice from Relationship Expert Tamsen Fadal

So remember about two months ago, I did a beauty tv segment on WPIX11 with morning anchor Tamsen Fadal. You can watch it here. Anyway, Tamsen is not only a news anchor but she is also a relationship expert, co-founder of the match making service The Love Consultants, author of three books: Why Hasn't He Proposed?, Why Hasn't He Called?,  and Don't Date Dumb. Since many of you girls, email me asking for dating advice, I thought it would be great to ask Tamsen for some dating tips.   So without further ado, let's talk to Tamsen about love, life advice and of course beauty.

1)   Tell me a little about yourself?
I am the early morning Anchor on WPIX-TV in New York City. I start my days at 2:30am, so I definitely get an early start!
I am the co-founder of a Matchmaking and Date Coaching service – The Love Consultants and have written 3 books, Why Hasn’t He Called?, Why Hasn’t He Proposed?, Don’t Date Dumb.

I am also a big beauty and accessory junkie and love fun handbags and jewelry!

2) How did you get into the matchmaking business?
My husband and I came to NYC and realized the dating landscape seriously favored the men. There are more than 200k more single women than men on the island of MAN-hattan. We started out by interviewing hundreds of bachelorettes to see what they were looking for in a man and hundreds of bachelors to see what their must-haves were in a woman. The Love Consultants™ Matchmaking & Date Coaching was born!

2)   What are 3 huge mistakes women can make on a first date?
1.   hint that they want a second date
2.   give too much information we call it TMTF (too much too fast)
3.   talk about the 3 M’s (marriage, mothers and other men they have dated !)

3)   What are mistakes that you see commonly that leads to breakups, in a relationship?
When couples are not on the same page and don’t communicate, it usually ends badly or at least it ends. We see a lot of breakups happen because people are talking but not really listening to each other.
Often women have one perception of where the relationship is heading and men are on another page altogether.

4)   What are some things women can do to keep their marriage or relationship alive? (Because you know after a while, it can start to get a little boring...)
It can start of get a little boring after awhile, so you have to remember that this person is with you because they want to be, not because they have to be.
We recommend people try to keep a first date mentality – that is where the excitement started.
-keep he/she surprised
-have something to talk about
-be curious together
-step out of the routine
-go someplace new
-be spontaneous

6)What's some dating advice you can give to single women?
1. Don’t be afraid to approach a man. This doesn’t mean you have to be aggressive and chase them down, but be bold, you may be surprised.
2. Be okay being single. I loved being a single girl on the go. Remember, it’s that inner confidence in where you are that takes you to where you are going.
3. When you talk to a man, don’t tell him everything in the first 10 minutes. I like a little mystery from both sexes.

Now since this is a beauty site, here are some questions:
1)   What's your beauty regime?
I can’t live without my Clarisonic. It makes me feel like I’m giving myself a facial morning and night!

I follow that up with Mama Mio’s Clean Slate – it smells fabulous.
June Jacobs has an amazing Cellular Collagen Eye Serum
And then I use Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Serum and Lotion.

2)   What are 3 products that are always in your makeup bag?
My MAC spice lip pencil.
Nars Orgasm lip gloss
PUR 4-in-1 Minerals Foundation

3)   What beauty advice can you give to women?
I have found that keeping my face moist has been ideal for my skin. Since I get up at 2:30am it’s not always easy to get 8 hours of sleep and once I hit the studio, I have makeup on my face starting at 3am. So, I think water is a must, a good skin care regime that you can stick too and I am freakish about staying out of the sun (my face especially) to avoid sun damage!

4) What life advice can you give to women?
Learn how beautiful confidence is early in life. It took me a very long time to realize that. And, don’t look at other people and compare yourself. It can be easy to do since we are constantly inundated by social media sites and what everyone is doing every second of the day. It is important to stay focused and find something that you love to do and find someone you love to be with. Don’t settle. No matter what.

You can find out more about Tamsen here.

Thanks Tamsen,

Hugs,

Milly

Weekend Updates & New Maybelline winners

Hey loves, how was your weekend. Mine was pretty fun. I did a lot of reading. I love to read books on beauty. It's a bit of an obsession. Here are some that i read and re-read on Saturday.

Sunday I was thinking about buying a cat. One of them really caught my eye.
But then I remembered that I would be the one taking care of it. So I nixed that idea real quick.
Then I headed to brunch with Lil Man. I was so worried he'd make a scene. But,  I was shocked at how well he behaved.

By the way, I had the best Strawberry cheesecake ever at this place called Oceans 81. It was so delicious.

All in all a fun week.

Since I was late with announcing the winners of the Maybelline auction, I gave the winners almost 5 days to come forward, but sadly only 3 did (which is interesting because the 2 that didn't come forward are subcribers to the site,)  I have to pick 2 others:

Winners are:

Please send email within 2 days or I'll have to give this to someone else.

Thanks,

Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer Review and Pics

Hey loves, before I begin this review, I just wanted to thank you and send you all cyber hugs.  Within a few minutes of asking you to subscribe to my youtube, I finally went over a 1,000 subscribers. You guys are amazing. I will be shooting the video this weekend, and hopefully it will be up next week. Thanks so much, now let's talk beauty.

I was recently introduced to a new product by Hourglass cosmetics.  It's called Hourglasss Film Noir Lash Lacquer.  Film Noir Lash Lacquer is a product that contains a brush (but not a mascara brush). Think of it like  a tiny paintbrush, that you use to coat your lashes. With this product, you're pretty much painting your lashes  a glossy onxyx pigment, that's supposed to make them them insanely long. Basically it's supposed to look like you have fake lashes but without all the fuss.  It kind of reminds me of this new procedure Lash Dip which is supposed to do the same thing but it last six weeks and cost $300.00. I don't know about you, but I'd rather apply this every day and pay under $30.00 to get the same results and save that money. Anyway, you're supposed to use this after your mascara.  You can definitely increase the amount of product you want to get more dramatic lashes. I thought this product would turn my lashes hard but not at all. It contains vitamin E and my lashes stayed soft throughout the day, without smearing or anything. This product will definitely be a new addition in my beauty bag. I love that this product and all of Hourglass products DON'T contain Parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, and phthalates.  Here's my left eye naked and here's my right eye with mascara (lengthening) and Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer. Do you see how intensely black, glossy,  and long my lashes look. Wowza! It's so easy to use. All you do is hold the wand at a horizontal angle and just begin painting your lashes with short strokes.  Although Hourglass recommends you use it with their mascara, I'm pretty sure you can use it with any lengthening mascara. I did!
What are your thoughts about this?

Will you be using this?

You can only get this on Sephora here.

Hugs,

Milly

Sonia Kashuk Bare Minimum Pressed Powder Bronzer

When Lil Man wakes up, I think this is his first thought of the day:

It's like he's a machine, and he just wants to destroy everything. He's now walking, and I've literally had to remove everything out of his way or it's getting destroyed too. He's destroyed my cups, my pictures, my frames, pretty much everything breakable, if he gets his hands on it, it's gone. LOL! Anyway last week, I was getting ready to do my makeup when I got an important phone call. I ran to grab the phone which was on the table, leaving my favorite bronzer on the couch. But then I remembered, LIL MAN was on the Loose, next to the couch!  By the time I turned to look (which was maybe 5 seconds later), he already had the bronzer in his hand, and had already thrown it on the floor and it was now in a million pieces.  I was devastated. Bronzer is kind of essential for me during the summer and this bronzer was over $20.00. I took the bronzer away from him hoping that there might be some remnants of it in the packaging, but nope it was all over the floor. So I swept it up, blamed myself for being so careless and was prepared to go to Sephora to pick up another bronzer when I remembered that I had recently been sent Sonia Kashuk's new Bare Minimum Pressed Powder Bronzer.

I picked it up and began to look at it. Could this give me the glow that my beloved higher end bronzer did? This cost $10.00. It sure did. This really gave my skin a warm, sun-kissed  just left the beach golden glow. You definitely can build on this product to get the glow you want. There is definitely a  hint of shimmer, but nothing crazy. During the summer, I tend not to mind shimmer so much.  It's really a great product and for 10.00, it's a steal.
Here's a cheek swatch:

What are your favorite inexpensive bronzers?

Do you like Sonia Kashuk Products too?

Milly

Milani Haute Flash Full Cover Shimmer Lipgloss Review

Milani is definitely one of my favorite drugstore brands.  Their Coralina blush is one of my favorite drugstore blushes this summer. So when I heard they were releasing Milani Haute Flash Glosses which are a set of Shimmery full coverage lip glosses, you know I had to get my hands on them. FYI, these products are only available at CVS and only this July!

The gloss comes in four gorgeous shades
Left to Right: Flashy, Star Flash, In a Flash, Hot Flash
Flashy is a sparkling fuchsia, Star Flash is definitely a mix of shimmering lilac/pink, In a Flash (my favorite color) is a sexy shimmering deep purple (I never knew this color would look so well on me) and of course Hot Flash which is a bombshell shimmering Sexy Red.

These  are definitely full coverage. However, you can't just apply these without looking in the mirror. You do need a mirror to ensure that the color goes on exactly right. I applied these without a mirror and the color ended up applying uneven and I had some parts of my top lip covered and some not covered. But that's probably my only qualm with this product.  I like the longevity of these too. They last pretty long, even after I drank my green smoothie and they don't dry your lips out at all.

All in all these are pretty great and for $6.99 you can't beat it.

Hugs,

Milly

These were provided by pr for review. But come on, look at those swatches. You yourself can see how fabu these products are.

Maybelline Winners & Weekend Updates & What's coming up this week!

Hey loves, I'm so sorry I forgot to post winners of Maybelline falsies and lipgloss yesterday. Lil Man has been keeping me up lately. His teeth are killing him at night, so when he naps during the day, usually I blog, but lately I've been napping too. Anyway, the 5 winners according to Random.org were

the Fab Chick
Yasmin Perez
Jamie (Rural Glamour)
MissMandii
Clariza

If you didn't win, no worries, We're working with many brands to make sure you do soon.

If you won, you must send me an email within 3 days (usually I say 2 but since I was late, I'll say 3)
or I will give this to someone else.

As for my birthday weekend, it was great.

Hubby got me a great cake

And we went to dinner at La Esquina. If you're ever in NYC, La Esquina is a really fun spot. Outside it looks like a crappy taco stand, but then when you walk in, you go downstairs, through a kitchen, and inside you'll find a gorgeous restaurant.
darnit I hate how thin my eyebrows are!

The next day we spent it in the city too, walking around and eating at Casa La Femme (amazing Egyptian restaurant), but then I saw this picture. Hubby and I  had a disagreement on who this was in the drawing.

All in all a good birthday weekend. Hey you only turn 21 once right? (well in my case way more than once, lol)

This week here's what's coming:
Milani's Haute Lipglosses are amazing and only available in July and at CVS(reviewing them tomorrow, but look at these teaser swatches so far)

Sonia Kashuk's new bronzer (at only 9.99 this is a steal!)
Peter Lamas Wheatgrass shampoo
My new favorite cleansers,
Tamsen Fadal (founder of the love consultants) gives you girls dating advice.
Lil man hits 13 months,
and more
FYI, I'm only 7 subscribers away from a 1000 on Youtube. Once I reach a 1000, I'll post a new video. Can you please subscribe. I'll love you forever. http://www.youtube.com/user/Beautylogicblog

Thanks,

Milly

New JLO Jennifer Lopez Perfume Love and Light Review

As a Latina girl growing up in NYC, Jennifer Lopez is a huge deal to me. (I’ll explain why later.) So  when I found out she would be on HSN debuting her new perfume Love and Light by Jennifer Lopez, I planned to call in and speak to her and tell her what she meant to me especially growing up. Sadly, every time I called, the lines were full and I never got a chance to talk to her. I was so disappointed but I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her Love and Light fragrance and when it finally came in the mail, I immediately sprayed it on my wrist, and fell in love.

First of all the packaging is so glamorous. Check out that bottle. But, I expect nothing less from her! Love and Light on me, is a delicious  blend of jasmine and musk. There is a bit of patchouli but not an overpowering amount. This scent is so fresh and light and the staying power is great. I have used it in the morning and at the end of the night, still gotten compliments on it. I absolutely hate fragrances that are too strong, and this is just perfect for me.

I’m so happy that this scent worked for me just because honestly I adore JLO so if it didn’t work, I would have been highly disappointed. I have been a fan of Jlo since I was a teen, and first saw her in the movie Money Train. I remember looking at her and thinking “Wow someone that looks like me.” Before JLO, I rarely saw Hispanics in movies, and if I did see them they were usually portrayed in a negative light  But J Lo was something I’d never seen before. She was a leading lady and she was clearly Latina and proud. I also credit Jennifer Lopez with  making Hollywood realize that curves were beautiful. She also made a lot of Latinas, like myself who came from inner city homes, realize that it doesn’t matter where you come from, success is possible as long as you believe in yourself and work hard. Thank you for being an inspiration JLO, and also thank you for making my new HG summer fragrance. I've had Jennifer Lopez on my vision board for a few years now, so I'm hoping I'll get to interview  her one day for Beautylogic. Until then, I'll be enjoying her latest fragrance.
