Lancome Oscillation Powerfoundation Rocks My World

I’m not really a mineral foundation lover. I’ve tried them before, and it’s always been ehhh. After 8 hours my face looks blotchy, masky and usually they don’t provide enough coverage. However, a few weeks ago, I got the chance to try Lancome’s Oscillation Powerfoundation and my opinion on mineral foundations has greatly changed.

Photobucket

My shade in this is Sable 20. First of all, I love the packaging of this product. The Foundation is encased in a jar, and the applicator is over it. All you have to do is push the button on the applicator (the button makes the brush move 7000 micro-oscillations per minute) and begin applying on your face.  The vibrations of the brush feel as if  I'm giving myself a facial massage. So wonderful!
Photobucket

I love that unlike other mineral foundations this product will not leave a powdery mess all over my house.  This product also has a very high amount of SPF-21. That’s high for any foundation, cream, powder or liquid. When I tried this, I couldn’t believe the amount of coverage it provided. Seriously, I didn’t have to use a concealer or anything for my hyper pigmentation.  The Sable 20 shade was an exact match to my skin. Lancome claims this will last for 14 hours.  I can attest that this lasted a full day on me without the need to re-apply. Also, this product is oil, talc, and fragrance free.

Photobucket

Me with this on.

What are your thoughts on mineral foundations?

Do you love them? Do you hate them?

Urban Decay Ink for Eyes

Photobucket

When I was younger my eyes were my dreaded enemy. Because they were so big, I was constantly teased and called "Pop-Eye," "Eye-popper, "and "Crazy Eyes."  However, as I grew up, I learned to love how huge they were and realized that eye makeup looked absolutely amazing on these peepers so I have become quite the eye-make junkie.
Anyway, recently I got the chance to try Uban Decays Ink for Eyes in Binge, and let’s just say DE is impressed big time.
The packaging of this is pretty stellar. It comes in a cute rectangular box with  2 columns. One column contains a huge amount of product and the other one has a quality brush to apply the eyeliner.

Photobucket

This  product applies  effortlessly. The eyeliner seriously last all day (even with my insanely oily eye-lids) and for $22.00 this aint bad considering it comes with so much product, and a great brush. Binge is a beautiful mix of purple/and dark blue, just stunning for brown eyes.

Have you tried this product?

What were your thoughts?

I Hate The Snow & Loving Gabriel Cosmetics

Hey dolls, is it just me or is the snow just depressing. I don't ever remember there being this much snow in nyc. It's making me want to stay under the covers all day and watch Wife Swap (I love that show!).

Photobucket

Alright back to beauty. As I've mentioned before,  I’m trying to be a little more careful about the ingredients in my cosmetics.   Although I’m not perfect, I do want to start incorporating more natural products in my beauty regime-especially on my lips. Recently I was bored and ventured to my Whole Foods and started peeking through their cosmetic aisle. The amount of natural cosmetics now are crazy, and I’m so happy that I have all these options. One counter that I couldn’t get away from was Gabriel Cosmetics. This company was started by Gabriel Desantino. Growing up in Mexico he watched his grandmother make her beauty regimen from herbs, seaweed and kelp, and as he got older and into the beauty business, he realized that his grandmother remained ageless. So he started his company using only 100% natural ingredients.

Photobucket

Hot damn, the Gabriel Cosmetic lip glosses are so beautiful. My absolute favorite shade is nectar-a beautiful peachy pink shimmer. Incredibly pigmented, little flecks of sparkle, but not too much, and since I”ve been wearing them, I notice that these lip glosses have serious staying power.  They also all contain natural moisturizers like castor oil, shea butter,  Jojoba, aloe and chamomile  so when I put this on, my lips feel are so hydrated and moisturized. No chap lips with this! This product also does not contain any parabens, lead, and it has SPF 8.

Photobucket

I'm loving this.

Have you heard of Gabriel Cosmetics?

Things that make De go Hmmmm_A Vagacial?

Don't get me wrong. I’m all for trying new beauty treatments. When Mr. DE travels to a foreign country for work , a lot of times, I’ll ask  him to bring me  a beauty product that is not available in the US yet but readily available in the other side of the world.  Lately some new beauty treatments I've been hearing about have been targeting our most intimate area, from lasering, bedazzing, and now Vajacialing? You might be asking yourself,  "what exactly is the Vajacial?" I know I sure as hell did.

Well according to bella sugar for Sixty bucks this is what you’ll get:

"First, skin is cleansed with an antibacterial body wash and witch hazel. Then, a papaya-based exfoliating gel goes on before the esthetician extracts ingrown hairs. After that, an anti-freckle, anti-acne, or calming mask is applied. It finishes off with an application of lightening cream."

Basically a facial for your most intimate area.

Huh? Really? Seriously?
Stript, the California spa that offers this recommends getting the treatment a week after your Brazilian wax.

The owner of the spa Katherine Goldman wrote in the press release. "Your 'little lady' will thank us!"

Hmm, not sure about that.

What do you think of this?

Would you try this?

Do you think anyone needs a vagacial?

Oils 101-Coconut Oil for Beautiful Hair

I always tell you guys, beauty should and could be affordable. My cousin who lives in a 1 room shack in the Dominican Republic, literally takes the coconut oil off of the trees and makes herself a hair treatment every week. Guess what, this girl who has no money, has hair that can rival any Pantene Models. As you guys know one of my favorite and most inexpensive beauty secrets is Coconut oil. For hair growth, hair shine, hair strength, you ladies know how much I love, adore, worship the ground coconut oil walks on. Why? Well one, I’ve seen first hand what application of that oil can do on your hair over time. I’ve seen dry damaged hair, turn to long lustrous shiny hair (yes I’m talking about mine and many other family members) There’s not much to say about the oil except it is proven to work by science. Here’s the link to the study. But I don't care what science says, the proof is in the pudding and in my case, "the pudding" is my hair, and let me tell you, my hair adores this stuff.  Obviously it’s made from the fat of coconuts. The high amount of Lauric acid is really beneficial to your hair and scalp.  If you have time you can actually make the oil yourself. Here’s a link on how to do it too.

Currently Tropical Traditions is the one I've been using:

Photobucket

Give your hair a good scalp massage with the oil about once a week. I guarantee you’ll see a difference.

Although i've been using many coconut oils throughout the years, Tropical Traditions actually sent me theirs to try.

Arlenis Sosa, Lancome & Latina Mag and New Genifique Giveaway

Yesterday I had a lot of fun. If you haven't yet seen my girl Arlenis Sosa on the cover of Latina Mag, please go run out and purchase it. She looks stunning, and the article was great. Yesterday Lancome and Latina Mag partnered together to have a great event to celebrate Arlenis being on the cover and yours truly was there. Arlenis and I spoke for a few minutes, and can we just say that DE loves her to little bitty pieces. Such a sweet, and humble Latina who is giving back in a major way with her foundation. (DE loves good people!)

Photobucket

Anyway, besides Arlenis, I was in a room with so many other amazing and talented peeps from mega talented singer Kat De Luna (Angelica, are you so excited for me? That's an inside joke-keep reading if you're not Angelica).

and friend to the blog,  my favorite makeup artist Scott Barnes who is always a lot of fun.

In honor of Arlenis and Latina Mag, and the  industry finally taking note of the beauty of Latinas, I'm giving away a bottle of Lancome's treatment serum Genifique. Just send an e-mail to beautylogicblog@yahoo.com saying "De I need Lancome's Genifique in my life" winner gets announced Friday.

Pump up The Volume With Tigi Catwalk Root Boost

 Photobucket

Last week I was lucky enough to attend the Bebe/Kim Kardashian Fashion show. After the show we got a cute gift bag which contained Tigi's New Catwalk Root Volumizer. One thing I absolutely loathe is hair that is flat on the roots.   I have a big-head complex, so my thinking is, the fuller my hair, the smaller my head looks.  Flat roots just emphasize the largeness of my dome. No matter how many times I tell my stylist to give my roots a lot of volume, she still leaves me with flat rooted hair. It’s annoying, and I think I’m going to stop going to her. Anyway, the day before yesterday I decided to do my own hair. (Lately I’ve been doing that a lot,. I find my hair comes out a lot better when I do it. Also, I’m saving a few dollars which is always great.) I was going for twirled ends, and fab uplifted roots. I washed my hair and then I blew dry my hair for like 5 minutes before actually working on it.  FYI, Your hair should be around 60% dry before you start the styling process. I sectioned off my hair, and sprayed some of the Catwalk root booster to my roots. After I was done, my roots were looking fantastic, I could have sworn they had a mind of their own and were talking to me (jk). They were uplifted, volumous and my hair looked super full. (When your hair is long it can be hard to get the full-hair effect.) Anyway, here I am in my bathroom taking a pic (with a crazy face.).

I’m loving this stuff.
Have you tried this stuff?

If you haven't, you must!
What do you do to keep your roots looking full and lifted?

Beauty Blender Sponge

 Photobucket

Sad to say but the streets of Manhattan are full of beautiful women who just don’t seem to know how to apply makeup. I’m no expert, but one thing I do know is that when you wear foundation, it should look seamless. I shouldn’t be able to see patches of different colored makeup or streaks and lines all over your face. The key to great makeup application is blending, and I’m happy to say that a product that I recently tried and will help with the foundation blending process (IMO it’s best  with use cream foundations) is the beauty blender. This egg-shaped sponge has been all the rave lately. Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist Mario Dedanovic  (who is a great makeup artist) uses it when he applies her makeup and I’ve been using it as well when I use my cream foundation. The egg shape of the product really makes hard to reach areas a breeze to reach. All you have to do is moisten the sponge, and apply your makeup  as normal and you’ll notice  a difference in how blended, and uniform your makeup looks.

Have you tried the beauty blender? Here's Mario using it on Kim.

What were your thoughts?

FYI:THIS BEAUTY BLENDER WAS PROVIDED AS A SAMPLE BY THE PR COMPANY. BELIEVE ME, THAT IN NO WAY HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY REVIEW.

Bebe Kim Kardashian Line- Backstage Beauty & Show Review!

Photobucket Pic I took of Kim Backstage

If you follow my tweets, you know one of my favorite fashion week shows was the Kim Kardashian Bebe line. Everything seemed to work so beautifully together from the hair, the makeup to the collection itself. I was pleased throughout the whole thing.
So we’ll begin with the backstage preview. We’ll start with my favorite subject- hair. The head hair designer was Whitney Blischke. Whitney said the idea behind the hair was "effortless glamour." Kim's inspiration was this Elle Magazine cover and she wanted her models to have the same look-a soft natural wave.

Photobucket
To create the look Whitney used Tigi Spritz & Shine from the catwalk collection and then set the hair with a 1 inch curling iron.
Photobucket
When curling, she wasn’t looking for a large amount of volume, she wanted more of a collapsed soft wave-which gave the hair a softer look. After the curl set, she would use her fingers to  comb the hair out to achieve natural looking waves, and set the roots with Tigi’s Dry shampoo and on the rest of the hair using Tigi Your Highness Shine Spray. Whitney says a huge trend is darker roots and lighter hair. By using a matte product on the roots (the Tigi dry shampoo) and the shining spray on the rest of your hair, you will be able to duplicate that look.
Photobucket
Photobucket

The makeup was gorgeous. It was reminiscent of the way Kim used to wear her makeup when she first came on the scene around three years ago. I asked Kim about that when I interviewed her, and I’ll let you know what she said after the run down.
Photobucket
The head makeup artist Nathalie Bechard told us that the inspiration behind the look was the young working girl who works very hard during the day, but parties hard at night. The eyes were the main focus and Nathalie wanted to give the models a gorgeous shimmery smokey eye.The palette that was used to create the look was the Sephora Collection Colorful Artist Palette.
On the lid she used a pewter gray shimmer  and then used deep matte gray on the outer edge of the eye. Underneath the eye, they used Makeup Forever Aqua Liner in Star Black The mascara used was Makeup For ever Smokey Lash Mascara in Black and Makeup Forever Individual False lashes.

Photobucket

The skin was kept satiny to complement the smoky eye.  Products used were the Makeup Forever Hd Elixir,  Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup spf 10, Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch and Fresh Twilight Facefresh Glow. The lips were kept a simple nude. The products used were Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in MMMM, which is a gorgeous muted pink and Sephora Nano Lip liner in Candid Candy.
As I told you before, when I looked at the models, I was reminded of the makeup that Kim used to wear when she was first introduced to the world. A smokey eye and nude lip. I spoke to Kim about it before the show and she said that although we don’t usually see her with that style of makeup anymore because her makeup artist Mario usually always does her makeup, when she applies makeup on herself, she still likes to do a dark smoky eye, and a nude lip. (FYI, Kim in person is one of the most beautiful women I have ever laid eyes on, and super sweet, and her body makes me want to do squats every single morning. )

Photobucket

Anyway about the show. I loved loved loved it! I've already got my eyes and my cash set on 3 gorgeous outfits.

When Kim arrived backstage, I was in awe of her outfit.
A gorgeous gray sweatsuit with a sexy black leather corset added in the middle. How different! Who would have thought pairing those two together would have worked so well. It accentuated all of her best assets. I spoke to Kim about her line and asked her why had she decided to do it. She told me “ I always liked Bebe clothes and I always wanted to create a clothing line but I wanted to create something my fans could afford. My sisters and I all have different body types, so we created something that would accentuate all different types of figures.”
After looking at what she was wearing, I was excited as to what the show would bring and I wasn’t disappointed. There were a lot of grays and blacks in the collection with a few pops of color. The clothes are definitely designed for the confident, sexy, and feminine woman who loves her body in general (that’s me!). (Everything seemed to be pretty figure hugging).I haven't really been shopping at Bebe for a while, but now that this collection is in, I’m coming back. There was this stunning black stretch dress, that really caught my eye. As the model strutted down the runway, I won’t lie, I was already picturing myself in it and it was a great vision. Photobucket

This royal blue jersey dress with the double layered leather vest has my name on it.
Photobucket

All in all, I’m very impressed with the collection and can't wait to see a few of the pieces on me- lol.

Have a great weekend!

Recessionista Beauty $25.00 Tuesdays

Hey loves, you girls know how I always say beauty doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. With this economy many of us can no longer afford to get ourselves glammed up in a spa or salon anymore. However, there’s a great new website that is really helping you get beauty treatments for less-wayyyy less.  If you’re in the tri-state area, this may be a huge help to you. 25 Tuesdays is a site where you get a great beauty deal for only $25.00 every Tuesday. Two weeks ago, I got a facial that would normally cost $150 for $25.00. Last week, you could get a 45 minute Ayurveda massage for $25.00. The deals are great and are from real quality spots throughout the city. I hope you’ll take advantage. This week Spa Sally  is offering a $25 haircut which is normally $75.00 at Maria Bonita Salon and Spa . I can’t wait till she has another massage  special because I’m taking advantage. You can never get too many massages.

Hope you will take advantage.

Tracy Reese Backstage Beauty

Without a doubt, Tracy Reese is definitely one of my favorite designers.  She knows the shades that complement my skin tone so beautifully, and the fit that makes my body look like a Kim Kardashian body double. Recently I got the chance to watch the backstage beauty at Tracy Reese. The looks that were created from the hair to the makeup to the nails, were outrageous-typical of Ms. Reese.

We'll start with the hair:
 Photobucket Photobucket
Jeanie Syphy -the head stylist tells beautylogic that she wanted to create the not so perfect curl. She used a 1 inch  curling Iron, wrapped hair around 1 inch barrel then clamped it which gave a ridge between the curls, making it edgy-romantic.
Photobucket
She then pulled the hair in a ponytail, giving the hair a nice round shape on the top. She did leave some parts straight so that the look wouldn't look perfect, but the curls cascaded over the straight part. Products used were Tresemme Thermal Variations spray to set hair and Tresemme 24 hour finishing spray because although it holds the curl it doesn't make the hair stiff.

The makeup was fantastic. Lead Maybelline makeup artist Charlene Wasson tell us all about the look.
Photobucket
Tracy wanted the models to have a masculine/feminine look and wanted to keep it simple. She didn't want the makeup to upstage the collection. So they decided on a stunning sparkly smoky eye.
Photobucket\
The eyestudio quad was used to create the look with the brown on the lid. I just purchased this quad and can't wait to use it. (That model's name is Ariel Meredith. She is so stunning. I was kind of in awe of her beauty)
Photobucket
My favorite mascara Lash Stiletto Voluptuous was used  to give the lashes their killer long length and volume.
On the cheeks and around the top eye  area, Charlene used Maybelline Pink Illuminator. On the lips she used Maybelline Color Sensational in Toffee which is a gorgeous caramel nude.

Now let's get to the nails. They were so hot!

They were full cover nails with a lace overlay-that Tracy was actually using in her collection. Hot to death!
Photobucket

Tomorrow I'll be reviewing my favorite show/backstage beauty which was Bebe Kim Kardashian and we spoke to Kim personally  about the collection. We'll also be reviewing Jill Stuart Hair.

VESSEL BY LOIS COLLECTION & BACKSTAGE BEAUTY

Photobucket
Lois

It’s fashion week and as I've been telling you guys, I've been insanely busy.  Recently, I attended the Vessel by Lois show and was really impressed with the beautiful makeup and  gorgeous threads. Lois (not pronounced the way you think-it actually rhymes with Roy )  is a former model and author who has now added designer to her resume-and rightfully so. Lois’ influence for her collection was the uniforms she had to wear as a child going to parochial school in Jamaica.  As these gorgeous statuesque models strolled down the runway, I found myself lusting over so many of the beautifully tailored ready-to -wear items. From the gorgeous gray and white Daisy Dress,

Photobucket

to my favorite item which was the royal purple cape.

 Photobucket

You can’t go wrong with purple and also, how cool is it to walk down the street with a bold purple cape draped over your shoulders. It just feels regal and worthy of a Queen (which I am, and so are you lovelies).

Photobucket
Although I loved the collection, my absolute favorite thing about this whole show was the makeup. My girl Felicia of www.thisthatbeauty.com  was the creative force behind the look really out did her self. Felicia says that the makeup had to introduce an element of structure to align with the collection. All makeup used was by a mineral company called Youngblood Cosmetics. After seeing the collection in action, I had to purchase a few items myself. Felicia said, structure was conveyed through the cheeks and brows. The cheeks had no blush, just a light dusting of mineral radiance to the apples. The exact shade is YoungBlood cosmetics Sprinkle. Now for the eyes (which were breathtaking) Felicia incorporated plum, aubergine, and muted gray to bring vibrancy to them. Exact shades were heather, smoke, halo, alabaster, storm. The eyes were also rimmed with black liner then smudged with shadow so that the liner was not obvious. The lips were lightly stained with the exact shade bistro.

Photobucket

For the skin, she wanted luminosity and coverage. So to achieve this she balanced the skin by prepping it with Youngblood mineral primer and then she applied a combination of booth loose and liquid mineral foundation according to the individuals skin. Then Hi-Def setting power completed the look.

The nails were done by M2M. I love M2M and will do a review on them soon. Their polishes are also toluene, formaldehyde and Pthalate free. The 2 colors that were used were Let's Talk (inspired by Tyra Banks) and First Lady(inspired by none other than Michelle Obama)
Photobucket

The overall look was polished, feminine classic, and best of all HAUTE!

Zoya Reverie Spring Line

How was your weekend loves? Mine was amazing. Fashion week has been fun, and on Saturday there was a great NYFW Media mixer where I met so many other amazing bloggers. During that event we received a great giftbag and one of my favorite things in the bag was the Zoya Reverie Spring collection. Now Zoya happens to be one of my most loved nailpolish companies for so many reasons. First of all, they don’t contain any really harsh chemicals like toluene, dibutyl Pthalates (pregnant women be very scared of this), and Formaldehyde. But their polishes seriously last over a week, and even with one coat, they are so pigmented and beautiful. Now usually I wait a few weeks to showcase items after getting them, but I just had to let you mama’s see this collection. These are six gorgeous metallic shades, and I’m loving them all!.

Laney-this is a gorgeous silver metallic that really reminds me of a full moon.
Photobucket

Happi-Probably  my favorite shade. A beautiful blush pink metallic. I love how the light bounces off of this one.
Photobucket

Adina-Named after a very sweet blogger. This is a gorgeous duochrome violet metallic.
Photobucket

Lana is a fresh shade and another one of my favorites. It’s described as a beautiful rich red metallic. Breathtaking!
Photobucket

Reece-a gorgeous metallic rose.
Photobucket

Gwin –this and Happi are my all time favorites. A beautiful and bright orange metallic. I love it, and it looks so good on a tan-skinned mamas

Oils 101-Camellia Oil For Hair Growth/Skin Care

This oil doesn't seem to be well-known in the United States. However, Camellia Oil is apparently  the beauty secret of the Japanese. It’s derived from the seeds of the Camellia Oleifera which mainly grow in Japan from Islands of Nagasaki Prefecture and Islands of Tokyo Prefecture.  It’s also known as tinseed oil. Camellia’s oleic acid concentration (oleic acid is amazing for the hair and skin) is 85%. That is very impressive, and is the highest concentration of any vegetable. oil. It’s also loaded with Vitamins A, B, C, E and Protein which are great vitamins for your hair and skin. According to this article written by Chyrene Pendleton ,Dr. Liau a professor Of Pathology at Columbia University says that “Camellia oil can increase hair growth making it fuller and healthier in just a few weeks even restoring color to white hair." According to the article Dr. Liau said that "Oleic acid cleans the scalp and hair follicles and allows oxygen and nutrients to penetrate freely and deeply. First as newly dividing cells at the base of the hair multiply, they force the cells above them upward helping them to promote the growth of hair.”
Many pregnant women I know swear by Camellia oil for prevention of stretch marks, and it’s moisturizing abilities.
Have you tried it?
I’m just getting started with this one.

Revlon PhotoReady Foundation

 Photobucket

I'm a sucker for anything Halle Berry endorses.  I figure if I try anything she likes maybe I'll start to resemble her. Wishful thinking I know, but hey, you never  know. Recently while perusing the newly designed Duane Reade, I spotted a  Halle Berry Revlon Ad. As I stopped to stare at her beauty, my eye caught sight of something else-a new Revlon Foundation called Photoready. Now Revlon Colorstay in Caramel is one of my staples, so i decided to purchase this one and I'm really happy I did.

The first thing I noticed about this foundation was the pump.

 Photobucket

Pumps are always a plus for me. I feel like you get a lot more control when there's a pump and it's just a lot more sanitary. I applied the foundation right after my moisturizer. (I'm loving a new moisturizer and will tell you which one next week.) The shade again was Caramel.

Photobucket

Now I totally had forgotten to apply my concealer because I was in a rush, but this gave me serious coverage, without looking caked on. My little hyperpigmentation marks were definitely not that visible after using this. I especially loved the longevity of this foundation. It lasted the whole day wtihout me having to re-apply and didn't leave my nose a greasy mess. It was also lightweight, and when  I took a pic with this on, my skin looked flawless. The price of this is great and I would highly recommend it.
