New Beauty Smoothie Ingredient: Neocell Super Collagen

You girls know how I feel about my beauty smoothie. I drink it religiously every morning and have seen some great results on my hair, skin, and nails.  Here's my smoothie recipe here. Anyway, recently I started added collagen to my smoothie after reading all the great reviews of this particular product. People claiming that their hair and nails, grew a lot longer, and their skin  never looked better. The stuff is tasteless, and is fairly inexpensive. Since I'm pretty familiar with how fast my nails, and hair grow every month (I''m a little crazy, I measure) I'll let you know if I see a difference in about six weeks.

Cassie's Movie Opens Today Kinyarwanda

Hey guys, so my co-editor Cassie Freeman has been really busy this year. She shot three movies, and has been all over the world just making her dreams come true. Anyway, her movie Kinyarwanda that won at Sundance actually opens today in theaters around the world. Famed Film Critic Roger Ebert gave the movie four stars yesterday   Here is the official trailer. Weekend Updates & Milly a reggae singer?

Hey Loves, how was your Thanksgiving weekend. I hope amazing. Mine was a lot of fun. On Thursday, we went to see the Macys Annual Thanksgiving Parade. It was a lot of fun, and we had a great view of all of the floats. Here's a pic I took.

Then Thursday night, we went to my grandfather's house to celebrate Thanksgiving. It was a good time, but sad as well. This was the first Thanksgiving without my abuela. My grandparents were married for over 55 years, so my granddad was a little sad. The food was amazing though. So many family members.  So much Food. Yum!!  I showed my family my Good Morning Connecticut segment, and they all laughed at my "professional voice." lol, whatever. On Friday I was going to be brave and do Black Friday but I decided against it. Then Sunday, Hubby and I did our date night. We walked around dowtown Manhattan for a while. Weekend Updates & Happy Heart Fund& Marathon

This weekend I met so many inspirational people.  People who are devoting their lives to help others live better lives. People who have risked their own safety so that children in other countries affected by natural disasters can have some sort of normalcy to their life.  Anyway, let me explain. On Friday night Mr. Milly and I went to a pre-celebration for this charity called Happy Hearts. It was a gathering before the big celebration which took place the next day. Supermodel Petra Nemcova is the founder of this organization. In 2004, Petra was in the Tsunami along with her boyfriend. He actually died, and she held on to a tree for hours in order to survive. Anyway, since then she has devoted her life to her Happy Hearts organization. The organization helps to build schools and the self-esteem of children who have been through natural disasters. I spoke to Petra that night, and was struck by what a kind-hearted person this woman is. She is not only extraordinarily beautiful outside, but even more so inside.  Her organization has built 56 schools in nine countries affected by natural disaster including in Haiti.  Click Below to read more about the weekend and see a cool video.

Weekend Updates & Favorite Cupcakes

Hey loves, how was your weekend? Mine was pretty uneventful, except for that snowstorm on Saturday. Do you know in 143 years, it has only snowed 18 times in October in NYC? And that snowstorm was insane. So I spent the day hanging with the family, catching up on some reading, some youtubes, and making a new Do It Yourself mask with Turmeric. (My Indian girlfriends swear by this spice for amazing skin.) On Sunday, Mr. Milly and I had our date night. We headed to one of our other fave restaurants Ideya.

Celebrity Hair Stylist Leslie Correa-5 Tips For Fabulous Hair

I told you girls on Monday that I recently received waist length hair extensions at C'apelli D'oro Salon in NYC. Celebrity hairstylist Leslie Correa, the owner and the man who did my hair, had such a wealth of knowledge when it came to hair. And we shared many of the same beliefs, like he loves Coconut oil for hair. He's been doing hair for over 30 years. So I asked him to share 5 Tips on How We Can All Get Fabulous Hair! His hair is fabulous!

1) Brush your hair with a paddle brush, before you shampoo to distribute the oils and stimulate your scalp. This will promote hair growth & impart shine.

2)Go to your stylist for regular trims every 6 weeks to prevent split ends. Even if your letting your hair grow. Hair grows about 6 inches a year. If you cut 1/4 inch every 6 weeks you'll end up with 3 inches of healthy hair rather than 6 inches of dry brittle hair.

3)Deep condition your hair from mid shaft to ends (never on the roots) using Olive oil or coconut oil once every 2 weeks. Your hair will absorb the lipids from the oils and it will shine like glass.

4)Beware of over conditioning your hair. Especially close to the scalp. It can make your hair fall out. Hairdressers train clients to condition in order to detangle the hair but too much conditioner can make your hair fall out in clumps. It's better to condition from mid shaft to ends or not at all. Check your drain & see if it makes a difference.

5) Another cause for hair loss is combing when the hair is wet. Start to detangle your hair with your fingers when its wet and brush your hair with a paddle brush only after it dries a little.

Anti-aging Tip-Facial Massage with Jojoba Oil

As a teen, my mom made me get a job at a Manhattan Vitamin Shoppe for a few reasons: 1) she wanted me out of the house because I was a little brat (it's the truth, I can't even believe how horrible of a teen I was.). 2) Because she wanted a discount at the Vitamin Shoppe. (Mommy is a huge believer in Vitamins, and believed they contributed to her curing her own Cancer 15 years ago.) 3) She wanted me to make my own money so I would stop asking her all the time. Although I hated her  for making me get a job when I could have been home eating, and watching the Golden Girls, it was such a great thing.  I ended up working with an Italian woman who taught me so much about internal health and beauty, and I got to experience hanging around Manhattan, and realized then that Manhattan is where I needed to be! Now this woman also taught me the importance of facial massaging to keep wrinkles at bay. She was in her sixties, and could have easily passed for a woman in her late thirties. She told me that I must do facial massages, and to use Olive Oil.  Although I liked Olive Oil, on my skin I prefer jojoba oil, just because my skin can be very iffy. One day my skin is  fine with olive oil, the next day I apply olive oil and I've got huge cystic zits all over the place. Jojoba oil doesn't break me out at all, and it's such a miraculous oil.  Hey loves, how was your weekend. I kept it really simple, had family time, did a lot of beauty reading

I’m also testing Rimmel’s latest foundation, and wrote a review for L’oreal’s latest mascara (which I actually liked a lot). On Sunday, hubby and I headed out for date night.

Weekend Updates & Cafe La Esquina Review

Hey loves, how was your weekend. Mine was great. Mr. Milly and I got into a bit of an argument, but we came together, talked about it, and worked it out. That happens in relationships sometimes, you won't always agree. It's completely normal, but what makes a relationship work, is communication. Talking about your issues! My grandparents were married for more than 50 years and my abuela always told me, "if you don't have disagreements sometimes, well then somethings not right."  Anyway,  this weekend, I gave myself a mani with Butter London's No More Waity Katie. Here's to New Beginnings with Georgia

Hey guys, so remember my co-editor Cassie went to visit Georgia Salon/store and got an amazing hairstyle. If you don't click here. Well the amazing women at Georgia are closing down their flagship location in soho, and will be now focusing on their brand online and taking it worldwide. I wanted to talk about this because both of these women are so inspirational. Jodie was the former head of PR for Zac Posen, and Kiara was a Wall Street exec, and both left their jobs to pursue their dreams. They are also both mothers. Jodie is a mother of four (yes I said it four) and Kiara is the mother of two.  They are now realizing that the only way they can build their brand world-wide is if they closed down their brick and mortar shop and focus on their online presence and getting their brand/products out around the world. Brilliant!

However, because they do now how popular their salon itself is, they have set up their salon at  223 Mott Street Between Spring & Prince. So go visit! Remember how fabu Cassie's hair style came out. We'll be updating you more on Georgia soon.

Random: Closet Organization for the Fall!

Growing up, mommy would often yell at me because of how disorganized I was. When I came home, I would just throw my clothes on the bed. When I needed to sleep, I would move the clothes over on the other side. I'd leave books and papers thrown everywhere.  I could never find anything. lol.    Fast forward to about six months ago, and all of a sudden I realized being disorganized was making me waste so much time and money. I could never find anything and looking for things would take me hours. So that day, I began organizing my house and papers like never before and I have found that being organized just makes life so much easier.   This week I'm trying to get my closets ready for fall and organize them a lot better. Since organization is kind of difficult for me, I didn't really know where to start. Step in Barbara Reich, an organization expert. She gave me some tips, and I'm sharing them with you Beautylogic readers-just in case you're trying to get super organized like me.

Weekend Updates & New Nuance Winners & Dominican Beauty Salon Discounts

How was your weekend? I was so lazy this weekend. Well no I wasn't, I tried out some beauty products including Mally's new Airbrush Eye shadows which you need in your life. Here's a pic (review up tomorrow or wed). They will be available on QVC September 23.

but other than that, I did nothing but stay home and take a few walks. While walking, on 97th and Broadway in NYC, I discovered a street vendor who sold some gorgeous  jewelry. Many of them she handmade and some were not handmade, but wow, I saw so many gorgeous things. Here are some pics.

Interesting thing is I saw her for three days straight. These pics are her stuff from the first day but the second and third day she had even better stuff. I just took a walk and she's setting up her stuff today so if you want to grab some gorgeous goods, head over there.
