Dermalogica Active Moist

Photobucket

It’s the wintertime, and guess what, my skin is acting up again. Some parts are super dry while others are oily. I’ve been trying a few different moisturizers and nothing was stabilizing it, until I tried Dermalogica’s Active Moist. When I interviewed Vivica Fox, she loved this as well. Vivica’s skin is flawless so I definitely had to get my hands on this. First of all this contains no artificial fragrance or color, that’s a huge plus for me, because that can irritate your skin big time. This moisturizer is lightweight so there’s no incredibly greasy feeling and my skin soaks it right up. This contains natural botanicals and silk amino acids that are supposed to be very nourishing to the skin, but you know what I always say, the proof is in the pudding. My skin feels hydrated, and regulated and my oily spots aren’t left greasy at all even after a few hours. I can really see the difference in my skin.

Are you a fan of Dermalogica?

New Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream

My skin care regime is the most important thing to me when it comes to beauty. You can have a gazillion makeup products, but if your skin is in bad shape, believe me it will show. I do a million things to keep my skin in great shape. I drink 8 cups of water a day, drink around 4 cups of green tea (great antioxidant) and use great skin creams. I’m still in my twenties, but I think a huge mistake a lot of women make is start anti-aging when the aging process has already begun. You should be preventing! I’ve been anti-aging for years (and I look so young, I still get carded.)

Photobucket

Recently I was sent Clarins Multi-Activ Day cream to test. This product is created for women thirty and over to prevent aging. I am not thirty yet, but am using this, and adoring it. First of all this contains something called Hesperidin which is supposed to be the most powerful and natural antioxidant obtained from orange peel. It also contains numerous other antioxidants that will keep DE young forever! However, you know with me, the proof is always in the pudding. My skin loves this stuff. I use this in the morning, and my skin feels so moisturized and hydrated. I apply under my makeup, and it seems as if my foundation glides on a lot easier, and, even after hours using this, my face isn’t a greasy mess.

Have you tried Clarins products?

What are your favorites?

The Man's Corner

Photobucket

We're starting something new here called The Man's Corner where my fiance recommends some products he uses. Now, my significant other is very meticulous about himself. Not that he’s worst than me, but he doesn’t play when it comes to looking good. (One of our first dates was at the gym.) I asked him if he wanted to contribute to the site, and he said sure. His first recommendation was his must have moisturizer Anthony Logistics for Men Oil Free Facial Lotion with Spf 15. He has very oily skin, and moisturizers usually tend to break him out, but since using this, he has no break outs and he loves how even after the day is over, his face isn’t greasy at all. This apparently has aloe vera and amino acids in it, which he says does wonders on his face. Also because he's a tan skinned cutie when he breaks out, he gets those unsightly dark marks, but since using this, his dark mars have diminished substantially. He says it's because of the spf15. He’s been using this for over 4 months, and says his skin thirst for this stuff. (Yes those were his words.) Needless to say, this is his staple moisturizer.

What does your honey use to keep his skin looking good?

MOMMY REC: LIZ EARLE SUPERSKIN CONCENTRATE

Photobucket

Listen up ladies, when Mommy recommends something, you should be taking copious notes. Shes’ close to sixty and doesn’t look a day over 35. She cured herself from cancer using her own methods-raw foods, and is just the most honest, beautiful human being you’ll ever meet. Anyway, mommy is absolutely obsessed with Liz Earle’s Superskin concentrate. Obsessed! Mommy has oily skin, so she was a little hesitant to use the stuff. But finally she tried it, and for the last three months, she refuses to use anything else. This product is loaded with 100% pure plant oils, like argan, (which apparently is the beauty secret of Moroccan women because it’s loaded with antioxidants and high vitamin E) rosehip, and chamomile. She claims that when she applies this at night, she wakes up to gorgeous smooth, silky, soft skin. Although this is loaded with oils, she has never had a breakout, and she claims that hyperpigmentation that she’s had on her face for years have diminished big time since using this.

She loves this!

Have you tried Liz Earle’s products?

Biore Dual Fusion-Moisturizer

Photobucket

A struggling reporter, doesn’t make a lot of money. So I have to be very selective where my money goes. However, when it comes to beauty, if I find something that I believe works wonders, I’ll work over time to get it. A good example is my Jan Marini Vitamin C Serum. That product has changed my skin, and I will never ever be without it. Anyway, sometimes I get lucky, and find fantastic products that are very affordable. My new find is Biore’s Dual Fusion moisturizer & spf 30. This product has two pumps, one for the moisturizer, and one for the spf. You pump them out at the same time, and then apply to the skin. The consistency is very lightweight, not thick at all. My skin is never ever greasy with this, but it’s also very hydrating, plus with the spf 30, this is great. And the price of this is a steal, only $14.99. This is definitely a beauty logic approved item.

Recession Replacement Thursday: Moisturizer

Here's a reader whose replaced her expensive moisturizer for a cheaper alternative:

Dear De,

I really love your blog. I find myself reading it a lot when I ‘m not feeling so great emotionally. Unfortunately, I was one of the people who lost their job at Bear Sterns. As an admin assistant, I had a pretty good life when things were going well. But, like thousands of others, I was let go. My unemployment is about to run out, and I’m wondering what my next step will be. I have 2 children, and this is a very scary thought. Enough with my sob story. Like you, I used to buy very expensive beauty crèmes, and other luxuries, but there is no way that can happen anymore. My old favorite moisturizer cost over $100.00. Not anymore. Three months ago, I went to Trader Joes, and the salesgirl recommended Jojoba Oil for moisture.

Photobucket

It was very inexpensive, but it was an oil so I was skeptical. The girl told me if I didn’t like it, I could return it. DE, I will never be without this. My skin has never looked better. Like you, I have very sensitive skin and I will break out if I use something that doesn’t react well. This oil is perfection. I have acne-prone skin, and when I first began using this, a little purging happened so I was nervous. But, after that my skin has never looked better. I’m close to 40, and the wrinkles aren’t showing nearly as much. My skin is clearer than it’s ever been, and it provides so much moisture without ever being greasy. I also use this to remove my makeup. It’s only $8.99 but a bottle can easily last you six months. I’m really happy with this. Thank you

Jessica

Jessica, thank you for sharing this. Please don’t feel despondent. The job market will improve soon, and I’m sure you will get something. I’m sending great wishes your way, and I’m sure my readers will too.

Big Hugs,

DE

DE Loves Juara's New Mattifying Moisturizer & Winner of Giveaway & Motivate Yourself!

I don’t know about you, but when the weather gets warmer, my skin tends to get a lot oilier. To the point where I have to keep dabbing it with one of my blotting cloths every hour. If I’m out in public with Mr. DE and my face gets too oily, we have a code word. He’ll say "Shining" in my ear, and I know that means whip out those blotting cloths. I have to apply moisturizer before makeup although usually it can exacerbate the oiliness. However, for the last two weeks, I’ve been trying Juara’s new Sweet Black Tea & Ginger Mattefying moisturizer, and I love love love it.

Photobucket

I apply this right after my serum, and right before my primer. It’s loaded with exotic and beneficial ingredients like Ginger which works almost as a natural astingent. Cinnamon, which is great for it’s antibacterial properties and it includes hyaluronic acid which of course plumps up the skin. As I always says, the proof is in the pudding. First of all this is not very thick at all, it’s a pretty thin consistency. However, when I apply to my face, my skin feels very soft and smooth, not dry at all. After four hours my skin isn’t oily, and only after eight hours do I have slight oil, and it’s not bad at all, not like my usual grease filled face. It really works and it’s Paraben-free. Alcohol-free. Unfragranced and Oil-free. We love it!

Winner of Jan Marini Mask is Linda Amdams. Linda you have two days to get back to me or i will be forced to give this to someone else.

Tami, the Genifique winner, please re-send me your information. I can't find it.

What are your plans this weekend? I'm interviewing this amazing woman for the site, and can't wait to upload it for you guys to see. I've decided that even if I don't get a job reporting just yet, I'll do things for myself, and PLEASE make sure that you're making moves too. Ryan Seacrest (yes this is funny) twittered a really great quote that I wanted to share with you girls "Find your light - they can't love you if they can't see you." - Bette Midler. Don't wait for things to happen, Make them Happen!

Hydrate Your Skin!

Your skin is your most important asset-especially the skin on your face. I remember when I interviewed Actress Michelle Rodriguez (you can read that here) and she stated that she was more concerned with the health of her skin, than having to cover it up with make-up. That's very good advice. The least make-up I need to wear the better, so most of my skin-care products are loaded with highly-effective and proven ingredients that don't irritate my skin and keep it in tip-top shape. Anyway, with that being said, my latest face wash is Avalon Organics Hydrating Cleansing Milk.

Photobucket

One thing I really hate is when I wash my skin, and it’s dry and tight afterward. This cleansing milk is loaded with nourishing and natural Borage and Flax oil (I take both in supplement form) and it leaves my skin very soft and silky with no tightness at all. Plus it contains a stabilized form of potent antioxidant Vitamin C called Magnesium Ascorbal Phosphate that penetrates my skin cells and will keep me looking 21 forever :-)

What's your favorite face wash?

Do you use Avalon Organics?

How was your Weekend?

This week is Giveaway week, where we're going to feature a new giveaway every day staring tomorrow, (tomorrow's giveaway will be a whole new nail polish collection). Also, we'll also be having BeautyLogic's biggest Giveaway EVER so stay tuned!!!!!
