Best Serum 2008

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty uneventful. My Grandma is coming back home and I'm happy as a clam. All your e-mails and support are greaty appreciated. Now back to beauty! As a beautyblogger/junkie I try a lot of products. I’m a woman in my mid twenties, and I’m trying desperately to fight aging. I hope to stay looking 21 for at least another twenty years, lol (my mom looks like she’s 30 and she’s close to 60). The most important components in my anti-aging arsenal are serums. These creams are packed with a much higher concentration of anti-aging ingredients than your regular moisturizers. Anyway, this year I tried many of them to see which one was the best and hands down, my favorite was Jan Marini’s Age Intervention Serum.

This contains the highest peptide concentration ever made in a product, massive antioxidants and hyaluoronic acid-all potent anti-aging weapons. I’m on my second bottle of this and can honestly say this serum has left my skin looking absolutely beautiful. I’ve tried a lot of Jan’s items, and she has some really great products in her line. I use this at night before bed, and unlike regular serums, this is more of a cream consistency. What I noticed after three weeks of use was that my skin had this glow to it that it never had before. Because I never used to wear glasses (they weren’t cool) when I was young and always squinted my eyes, (and mommy always told me not to-but I never listened), I have a slight line on my forehead, (no one notices it except me but it drives me nuts, why couldn’t glasses have been cool when I was growing up!), but since I’ve been using this, the line is barely noticeable (and believe me I notice everything). My skin is so silky, and it has this gorgeous glow to it, that even abuela noticed it when she saw me! It really is effective, and it’s BeautyLogic’s Favorite Serum for 2008.

Mr. DE Rec Protect and Correct!

Photobucket

Mr. DE takes incredibly good care of himself and one thing that he never neglects is his skin-care. Now Mr. DE hails from the Caribbean, and he’s blessed with gorgeous golden skin but occasionally a breakout will haunt him and, he’ll get left with those dreaded hyper pigmentation stains (I hate those!). For the last five weeks, I’ve had him testing DDF Protect and Correct moisturizer and he highly recommends it! He says that when he uses this thick cream, his skin is moisturized but not greasy at all (Mr. DE also suffers from oily skin) and since using this he notices the marks on his face have diminished dramatically (it contains something called micro-radiance complex to help even out skin tone and SPF15). This is a Mr. DE highly recommended product!

Suki Facial Moisture Serum-Nourishing

Photobucket

I was a little hesitant about using Suki’s Facial Moisture Serum because it contains many oils-although all are natural. However, the fact is my skin is incredibly sensitive and one product can make my skin breakout for months (because I’m a tan skinned mama, break-outs leave dark marks and I hate those :-(. However, I did finally delve into Suki’s Facial Moisture Serum and I’m so happy I did. The product is loaded with essential and nourishing oils like Jojoba (the oil specifically known for having almost the same properties as human sebum) rice germ, carrot oil, evening primrose and a few other nourishing natural ingredients. I’ve been using this at night for the past three weeks right before bed, and I wake up to such soft, moisturized, and dewy skin with absolutely NO BREAKOUTS at all!

I really have been enjoying the Suki line of natural skin-care products.

FAB SKIN WITH VITAMIN C

I’ve told you guys before how addicted I am to serums. Serums are incredibly potent liquids that keep DE looking very young. (Did I tell you guys my theatre professor thought I was 18-21?) lol, ok I’ll stop talking about that. A lot of anti-aging creams claim they contain Vitamin C. But, a lot of people don’t know that unless there’s a certain type of Vitamin C in the product, then most likely the Vitamin C will not be active once you place it on your skin.

Photobucket

I’ve been using Jan Marini's C-Esta Oil Control serum and I can really see the difference. First of all it contains vitamin C in the stable form of Ascorbyl Palmitate. I’ve told you about Jan Marini before. She’s known as the Derma Diva. She was using glycolic acid before anyone and researches extensively everything she sells. She’s also the first person that ever used this stable form of Vitamin C, and her C-esta products have a shelf life of up to two years. If you don’t know what Vitamin C is good for, it’s one of the most potent antioxidants for your skin. It works deep within your skin to create collagen and is great for preventive aging and protects the skin from UV damage. Anyway on to results, I’ve been applying this right before my moisturizer. I give it about two minutes to settle in, then on to the moisturizer and then on to the make-up. I’ve been using this for 3 weeks, and my skin is looking beautiful! The last three weeks have been incredibly stressful, and usually my skin shows how much stress I’m going through with acne breakouts, but not this time. I haven’t got one zit, even when my monthly visitor came around. This is also a thicker consistency than my regular serums. Usually after a few hours, my skin begins getting oily, and I have to apply some powder. Not with this serum! It keeps the oil away, and I’m glowing. I’m loving how even and refreshed my skin looks, and my pores appear so much smaller and the fact that this has a stable vitamin C, makes me very happy in knowing that I’m actually putting something on my face that works,,,,,,, and it shows!!!

Potent Anti-Aging Weapon-Patricia Wexler Serum

A lot of my friends are women of color who think because they are tan or dark skinned beauties, they don’t need any anti-aging remedies. I highly disagree with that and advise everyone I know to make sure that they use sun-screen all the time and anti-aging creams from the time they are 20 and over. (I’ve been using them forever and my theatre teacher told me I can pass for 18- 21!!… alright I’ll stop gloating over that!) Anyway, a close gorgeous African friend of mine got married around a month ago. She’s a huge product junkie like myself, so for her bridal shower, I gave her a bag full of beauty products. She was so thrilled! Anyway last week, I met up with her for a Bikram Yoga session. I hadn’t seen her since her bridal shower. (Her wedding was in Africa and I couldn’t afford to go!) She couldn’t stop raving about the Patricia Wexler MMPI20 Skin Regenerating serum that was in the gift bag I’d given her.

Photobucket

I did notice her skin looked a lot more luminous and clear. She claims that this serum leaves her skin so incredibly smooth -close to silk. Her make-up application is a dream, and the spottiness on her skin has diminished dramatically. She claims that her pores and the lines around her eyes are much less visible. Her skin is incredibly oily but this serum seems to balance it out. This product is apparently the only one on the market that has a patented MMPI 20 technology. What that means is, this product addresses all of the 20 MMP’s (skin destroying enzymes) and leaves your skin in amazing condition. She couldn’t stop gushing about it and told me that I must recommend it to you beauties.

What's your anti-aging weapon?

Exuviance is Extraordinary

I hope you guys had a fantastic Labor day. I had an amazing time, frolicking in the sun with friends (with spf 40 of course). I’ve mentioned to you guys before that I take my anti-aging regime very seriously. My mom has always taken her anti-aging regime seriously and at the age of fifty-something she doesn’t look a day over thirty-five. It’s amazing! (I’m in my mid-twenties and I’m proud to say I still get carded.) I’d like to attribute it to good genes but I know that’s not the case. (Some of my aunts look a lot older than their ages.) My mom has always used serums and one of the main ingredients in my anti-aging arsenal is my serum. I love serums! They are highly concentrated liquids packed full of antioxidants and vitamins that are incredibly beneficial for the skin. One of my favorite serums is Exuviance Bionic Vespera serum.

Photobucket

This leaves my skin in amazing shape. It’s formulated with PHA’s which are Polyhydroxy Acids (this is a new form of Alpha Hydroxy that is supposed to work better on sensitive skin and PHA;s provide much more moisturizing and humectant properties than AHA’s) and it also contains Pro Vitamin A, C and E (top-notch antioxidants that are known for working wonders). I use this light weight serum every morning and night, and seriously my pores are so much smaller, my skin glows and it's so much clearer and moisturized! I absolutely can see a remarkable difference when using this! I love it!

Any anti-aging weapons you want to share?
