Socap Extensions & Capelli D'Oro Salon

 As I told you girls before six weeks ago, Socap Extensions invited me to get extensions at the famed Capelli D’Oro in NYC on 5^th ave. Since my hair is already pretty long (3 inches below bra strap, you can look at my past salon reviews to see how it looked before the extensions) I didn’t know if I should do it, but since I like to try anything beauty related once, I decided, What the hey!  My plan was to review the extensions a week after getting them, but then I remembered that Leslie (the hairstylist) told me that I should have them in for six weeks before having to get any maintenance so I decided to wait the six weeks to see (I want this review as accurate as possible), and let’s just say, Leslie was right.  Click Below to Find Out about my hair extension experience. 

Spa Week Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa Facial $50

 Growing up, mommy and abuela (my grandma) made sure to  instill in me the importance of a woman taking care of herself. My general motto in life is: If You Look Good, You Feel Good.  I blogged about it before. One way I care for myself is I either give myself a facial or go get one. ( I prefer to get one for the relaxing experience.). This week is Spa Week, and it is the perfect time for you to indulge on yourself. Treatments that are normally hundreds of dollars are now priced at just $50. Yesterday I received a Spa Week facial from the famed Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa in NYC. My skin was super dry from testing out a horrendous peel so I needed a facial badly. Nina was my esthetician. She has been doing facials for over 35 years. Immediately when she examined my skin she began educating me. She said cystic acne can be caused by hormones but more than likely hair products are the cause of cystic acne. I could’t believe that. I never heard that before. She’s been doing this for 35 years so I definitely was listening. Anyway, back to the facial. I was treated to a relaxing warm hand wrap while she worked her magic.  She massaged my face and back for a solid 10 minutes. OMG! Facial massages are the absolute best. Not only do they keep the wrinkles away but they just feel so good.  She then turned on the steam and applied a solution to my face and then began extracting my pesky blackheads, which barely hurt. She then applied a mask, and walaa!! My skin was glowing no redness at all! I would highly recommend you girls grab a spa week facial from the Red Door Spa. Oasis Spa-Timeless Facial Review

You girls know how I feel about my facials.They are a necessity in my anti-aging arsenal. Now don’t think I always go out and get facials, not true! I’ve actually given myself some of the best facials ever, and yes, although I do  love to pamper myself, I also love getting pampered as well. Step in Oasis Spa. I was invited to review their Timeless Facial recently, and, this facial is definitely worth talking about. When I arrived at the spa, I was led to the ladies lounge where I changed into a comfortable robe and slippers. I then waited for my esthetician Lizzie in the serenity room. After about five minutes  Lizzie arrived. Lizzie and I got to talking and she informed me that she has been an esthetician for 18 years. That was shocking because she looked close to 18 herself. She told me her anti aging secret: frequent facials. When we got into the room she began by analyzing my skin, and began working her magic. She cleansed my face with Cosmedix Benefit Clean Cleanser then she used an exfoliant, then the extraction began. Such a gentle extraction! There was a lot more steps to the facial, but I won't bore you with them. All I have to say the facial was amazing, and unbelievably relaxing. Honestly, what I loved  the most was while I had the mask on, she applied these warm gloves to my hands, and then gave me the most luxurious hand and foot massage ever. I never wanted the massage to end. This was easily the best massage I've ever had while getting a facial. When I was finished, I was left with not only gorgeous glowing skin, but I felt as if all my stress had been melted away. And since Lil Man hasn't been sleeping well lately, that's a lot of stress!

I highly recommend Oasis spa, especially the Timeless facial with Lizzie. 

I actually am booking an appointment for my mom soon.

Zoya Sarah Sneak Peek & Polished Beauty Bar

Hey girls,

Yesterday I went to this fabu nail salon near my apartment  called Polished Beauty Bar. I was digging this place. First off they have these massage chairs that feel like there's an actual human being giving you a massage. Usually I hate massage chairs but not this one. It was amazing how great it felt,  and they also have NYC's biggest Zoya collection. Anyway, that place deserves it's own post so I'll talk about them sometime next week,  but what I was really loving was the fact that they had Zoya's new Winter Collection. (I haven't even gotten my hands on it yet.)  I had to get my nails done with the new Zoya Sarah. Isn't it gorgeous. You girls know how much I love my reds.

Bodre Cut And Color Room

Heres a post from BeautyLogic's co-editor Cassie Freeman. She's giving us the juice on the only salon where she gets her stylish short cut: Bodre Cut And Color Room. 

So many people ask me all the time, "Who cuts my hair?" Well today I will give you the dish…because after all it takes a team to make a girl look and feel her best!

I go to the Upper West Side to a cool and chic boutique salon called Bodre, named after my awesome stylist Hector Bodre! He's owned this salon for the last seven years, and I found him through word of mouth years ago. His salon is chic with all of their gallery events, wine nights, margarita Fridays and martini Tuesdays, but he is also the most amazing stylist when it comes to cuts. I have always had short hair, and in my opinion to cut a cool sassy short doo at an affordable price is hard to do.  Hector is the one person who I will make an hour trek from Brooklyn to cut my hair!

Hectors motto for his salon is “Bringing Glam Uptown".His clients include actors, stylist and professional women of all color.He can do everything. He is a cut and color specialist!

The products he uses the most are from  Echosline. He washes and conditions my hair from that line every time. However, he is about to move to the Redken line because he believes their products are even better and are more specific and detailed in handling different types of hair. However, what I'm looking forward to is when Bodre starts his own line.

I adore this salon, and  last Wednesday I had the launching of my new non profit the Kassandra Arts Project, everyone kept complimenting me on my hair cut, thanks Bodre for allowing to look my best while I do my best!

Eve Pumpkin Spice Pedicure is Just What Your Tired Feet Need

I love a great pedicure. A great pedicure will change my whole day! Before I got to my Pumpkin Spice pedicure appointment at Eve Salon I had early auditions and meetings all over town. It was a hot day in NY. I had on 4 inch heels that were now killing my feet. The trains were not on my side and I couldn’t find a cab for the life of me.  Then the skies became so gray and dreary and it looked like it was about to pour torrential rain.  I had no umbrella, and I felt completely drained and negative from my hectic day!

I made it to  Eve Spa located in the West Village in NY. Immediately, I was  greeted by a beautiful woman with a warm smile and offered complimentary tea. I happily accepted because I was in such a rush that morning that I had forgotten to drink my morning cup  and  I can’t live one day with out tea. Eve's tea  was truly amazing. It was a delicious warm pumpkin spice tea with a cinnamon stick. But to top it off,  they then offered me the most scrumptious and tasty pumpkin marble cake! I almost cried! It’s like they could feel my tired spirit and knew pastry was the great healing balm to soothe my heart!

I was then asked  to pick out my color of choice, and they have every color in the rainbow from Zoya and Essie, my two faves!! I was so overwhelmed with choice that they had a color specialist named Jane, help me pick  the perfect color for my toes. Today I wanted a pink hue of some type and Jane suggested “Essie's eternal optimist” I love this color, I would wear this everyday for the rest of my life. It is a great neutral shade on my complexion and yet it still pops!

This fall season at Eve they are promoting a whole line of spa treatments and it's  Pumpkin! My feet were pampered to an amazing scented pumpkin spice scrub. This woman massaged that scrub on my feet as if she knew exactly where all my stress was. I couldn't believe how great it felt. 

She  then followed with  a pumpkin spice warming mask, which felt like pure butter on my skin (the other cool plus about their products is that they are all organic). She then wrapped my legs and feet in plastic and then placed my feet in warm electric booties! The treatment was so relaxing I almost fell asleep! When the mask dissapered into my skin, the pedicurist rinsed the treatment off and then massaged my feet in a French Sugar Honey Lotion. She then  applied my shade of Eternal Optimist! My feet were softer then they have ever been, and I do mean ever! It’s like they reclaimed my baby softness!

I came in to Eve feeling tired and wiped out and left feeling truly hopeful and optimistic about everything, which proves the point yet again. If you want to feel your best, we as women must get pampered every now and then to restore our power as super women! And leaving Eve’s I felt like a super woman and my feet looked great.

Last time we met, I had natural hair  However,  as an actress, my look must change often for certain roles, so this time my hair is back to relaxed. Now let's get to my review. It can be challenging work to find the perfect product for your hair. And if your hair is curly, wavy, or kinky there is a store catered to fit your needs. Yes this gem of a boutique located in soho should be called curl girl heaven, but instead it is named delightfully Georgia! Like “Great Georgia My, my hair is fabulous!!

Georgia is a curly girls Sephora. No more going from store to store trying to decide which label will truthfully bring less frizz to your locks or which brand will give you springier curls, now a whole store just for you, whether you are all natural or relaxed this store will literally quench your hair needs! And also another great perk of going to this store is that Georgia has there own yummy lines of moisturizers and fun bath stuff for your skin. This place is a one stop shop for your head to your toes, and you may even see a unique purse or jewerly that no one else in the world could have. I love Georgia for that!! You can buy the coolest and unique items for your body and your home!

 

But there is more! Georgia also has an amazing salon, and so you know yours truly had to test it out, and Im not surprised that I left looking awesome! Their beuticians are hair mixologist! They feel and look at your hair and apply a mix of different products so your hair can achieve ultimate shine and softness! And while your getting your hair done, listen to cool relaxing music from Stevie Wonder, India Ari to Maxwell and on top of it all they give you complimentary wine, you see, I told you it was heaven!!

 

Sharntai, was the beautiful woman to style my hair, I knew from the moment I saw her, she would do some magic on my hair. She used a mixture of products from Lanza Healing Strength “Silk Serum”, Lanza Straight Line Smoothing Shampoo, Lanza Healing Color Care Trauma Treatment, PhtoSpecific Vital force Crème Bath and Jane Carter Wrap and Roll. This was the first time I ever had Lanza products used on my hair, and I must say my hair has never felt so silky. Sharntai, used two different sized flat irons, and made my hair curl like Dorothy Dandrige.

Dyanna Body and Nail Spa Best Waxing In NYC Hands Down!

Girls, I’d like to start this off by saying that I will no longer be reviewing wax places anymore.

Why? You ask.

Because I have finally found the best wax place in NYC and possibly in the world.

What makes it so great?

The wax was painless. 

Yes, I said Painless. And I am not kidding. 

You say impossible. 

I would have said the same thing until I met Allah at Dyanna Spa.

Let’s get right to it.

So it’s been 11 weeks since I had Lil Man. Since Little man came early, I couldn't go to Completely Bare to get my prebaby wax (which I had booked three days before my due date), so I hadn’t waxed in over 4 months.  Anyway, when there’s that much hair, you get a little nervous about the pain even if you’re a waxing veteran like me. Also, I just had a baby so I was a little scared about using a wax so close to that area. But, after not being able to take it anymore, I decided mama needed to be bare. So, I was going to book an apt with Completely Bare again, but then I kept reading about Dyanna Spa. It was voted “Best Waxing Place in NYC “ time and time again. So I contacted them, and they agreed to give me my post pregnancy wax.

When I walked in I was greeted by the lovely receptionist Irina, who was incredibly sweet. She introduced me to my aesthetician Allah (yes that’s her name, and the truth is Allah is truly the  "Allah" of Waxing). Allah was incredibly sweet, and she led me to my waxing room which was really pretty. I told Allah I just had a baby and hadn’t been waxed in over 4 months. She told me that the wax would be painless. I looked at her and laughed and said, “Honey I’ve been waxing for years, and it’s never truly painless.” She kept assuring me that it would be. When we began to wax, Allah told me if I felt more comfortable, I could squeeze her arm.  Now Dyanna spa uses a sensitive wax that literally becomes hard when they put it on, and all they have to do is just rip it off quickly. When she told me she was going to begin, I held my breath. However, when she began removing the wax, I was in shock. Literally it felt as if I was getting my eyebrows waxed. That’s how painless it was. And that’s surprising, considering, I hadn’t been waxed in months. All in all, this wax took no more than 15 minutes, and at the end of it, I was completely hairless, and it did not hurt at all.

This is truly the best wax job I’ve ever gotten, and since I have found it, I will no longer be reviewing waxing because I don’t believe there is a better place.

Hair Rules Salon Really Does Rule for Curly Hair!

I have coarse dry unruly unkind hair. I have used most if not close to all the products on the market for natural kinky hair. I did my big chop off last November and have been so frustrated with the up keep of my hair that I was about to go back to a relaxers. However, I was asked to try out the salon Hair Rules to see if their before and after pictures on line are true,  and if the beautiful spirals on the site can actually be had by a girl with hair like mine. I thought my hair could never look like the " after pictures" on the site, but in the end, I was wrong.

Dickey (owner of Hair Rules) is amazing when it comes to kinky afro-ish hair and is brilliant when it comes to all types of  curls and hair texture (from Sarah Jessica Parker curly to Afro Puffs curly). The best thing about him is that he evaluates each customer’s head of hair. You do not get your hair done here with out a consultation. To me it was more like therapy. He asked me about my hair and I said “I have African American hair..” and he stops me cold and says, “ No Africa is a continent with many different hair textures you have kinky good hair”. I was in shock. My natural hair has been called many things but “good hair” is not one of them.

We begin in his beautiful ultra fab, modern salon. At the sink bowl, he washes my hair with his Hair Rules No Suds Daily Cleansing Cream. He tells me that my hair can be drenched in water every day. He says curly hair need moisture and water and great conditioner is the way! Who knew! I was always told water was the enemy. The great thing about Dickey is he brings in facts where myths have been in the past. He then followed that with his amazing conditioner Quench! I think my hair had an orgasm. All of a sudden my curls were already starting to look spirally and much more defined. I was so excited he let me go look in the mirror, and then after he whispered in my ear “you have good hair”. I could have cried. I never thought of myself as having issues about my hair, but hello, who doesn’t especially if you are a black woman. It is so rare to see natural black hair being prized in the media. However because of some artist like Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and India Ari to name a few they changed the covers of magazine because it is difficult to control singing artist images. And so then girls like me think hey! Maybe I can be fine with out a chemical!

Ok! Back to my hair after he washed out my hair he added his Hair Rules Nourishment Leave in Conditioner…OMG! Nothing makes my hair feel silky smooth but this leave in did, again, I almost cried!! His assistant flat ironed my hair so he could trim my ends. He says this is the best way to get a more exact trim and cut for us curlies. Afterwards, we went back to the soap bowl again wet my hair and added the miraculous Hair Rules Curly Whip and Bam! There were my curls, they were long and spiral, my hair that usually is just a dry fro had defined spirals. He made me get up and shake my hair to loosen up the curls a bit more and so I can see how fabulously glamorous my new curls look. Afterwards he put me under the dryer for about 15 minutes and voila I was beautiful with my new curls.

The truth is Dickey over at Hair Rules deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for curly hair. Madame C J Walker gave us the potion to make our hair straight, but Dickey gave us our pride and self esteem by giving us a potion to embrace our roots. We all really do have “Good Hair” we’ve just all been using Bad Products.

Yin Beauty Arts Spa and $25.00 Deal

The last three weeks have been incredibly hectic with my lil man  but I’m getting by..barely, but I’m doing it. Last week I went to Yin Beauty Spa to indulge myself in a Signature Facial. I try to get a facial at least once a month and hope that you would indulge yourself in one too. It’s important that you always keep yourself looking in tip top shape. Yin Beauty Spa is a spa that prides itself on Eastern philosophies. They have their own product line, and all their products are 100% natural using only the freshest herbs and their facial was exactly what this mamma needed.

I needed a deep cleansing facial (because the last few nights, I had forgotten to take my make up off don't judge me). Katherine began the facial by using the Yin Beauty Arts Micro-Mineral Resurfacing treatment which contains gemstones, this was to remove the dead skin cells off of my skin. This was a gentle scrub, and Katherine rubbed this on my skin for a few moments.   

After the scrub Katherine applied a papaya enzyme masque on my face which she said helps with the exfoliation of the skin, and continues to  lift the dead skin cells off of your face and helps the impurities come to the surface.  After that Katherine did extraction. This is the thing I dread most about facials. But, this was really interesting to me, because Katherine used a towel and her fingers to remove the blackheads, and not only was it the most gentle extraction that I’ve ever had, but once she was done, the skin on my nose looked insanely clear and barely red. After extraction Karen used a honeysuckle herbal masque on my face which is very popular in China and it’s supposed to cool and soothe the skin. That felt great after the extraction.  After the Honeysuckle treatment, Katherine applied a Pearl Masque on my skin.  This was hand mixed by her because they don’t use any artificial anything or preservatives.  The Pearl Masque is beneficial for hydrating and soothing the skin. OMG, while the masque was on, Katherine proceeded to do a lymphatic drainage massage on me.  This was one of the best massages I’ve ever experienced. Do you know how badly I needed a massage after giving birth, barely sleeping, and breast feeding for the last three weeks. It was a God send!  I could not believe the hands that this woman had and I ended up purchasing a massage for later on. It was that good. Anyway after she removed the pearl masque, I noticed she kept touching my face, and she told me it was to make sure that my skins temperature was in even balance and even temperature. After that Katherine applied Yin’s own personalized tonic which contains ginseng, which is supposed to energize the skin and lotus flower which calms and soothes the skin. 

Then she used Yin's Skin Recovery Cream, which was very light. It's supposed to be good for protecting the skin.  On the side of my face  she applied a nourishing citrus cream for the dry areas to balance my skin.  Then we finished the facial off with a  pressure point massage on my face, and lymphatic drainage just to calm everything down. This was not only one of the best facials ever but the massage was seriously unbelievable.  I have never felt so calm and relaxed during a facial and my skin looked out of this world.  I would highly recommend this place and HIGHLY RECOMMEND KATHERINE.

Eve Salon-Rainforest Mani/Pedi Salon/Spa Review

Before we get back to my scheduled post, I’d like to thank all of you readers from the bottom of my heart. I have never received so many emails, and words of encouragement from so many people. I still have not been able to read through all the emails that you guys have sent but you’re all wonderful, and if I could give each and every one of you a big hug, I would. Anyway, let’s talk beauty.

The Saturday before I delivered Lil Man (unexpectedly), I needed to get a mani/pedi STAT. You girls know how I feel about taking care of yourself. It’s a must! Don’t ever feel guilty about it. You deserve it. Eve Salon located on 8^th street in Manhattan invited me to indulge in their summer Rainforest Renewal mani/pedicure, and woohoo, that’s just what I needed. First off, I was really impressed with Eve’s décor.

A gorgeous salon, with so many natural products, and they only carry two of my favorite nail polish brands, Zoya and Essie. 

Eve had all of the latest collections in stock too from Zoya’s Flash and Sparkle to Essie’s resort collection.  The salon is pretty well-known for their wax jobs but I had never gotten a mani/pedi done here.  My manicurist was this wonderful lady named Irina. I walked in, and the first thing I was offered was a Passion Fruit Margarita. Yum! Unfortunately since lil man was still inside me, I had to decline, but the margarita is included with all  rainforest mani/pedi services. The pedi begins like any standard pedi with cutting the nails, cuticles, etc.  But then Irina whipped out the Rainforest Restoration Passion Fruit Guava Scrub and that’s when the real fun began. 

She began rubbing my aching feet with it.  This scrub was definitely not abrasive, but it was strong enough so that as she was rubbing my foot with it, I felt as if I was in heaven. This was one of the best smelling scrubs ever. The delish fruity scent of this scrub permeated throughout the entire salon. I actually ended up ordering the scrub for myself online when I got home. 

After she washed off the scrub, she whipped out this delicious Acai Antioxidant Body crème, and gave me a gentle foot reflexology massage. I loved how knowledgeable Irina was about pregnant women. She knew that because I'm pregnant, I am not supposed to get very hard foot massages-that in itself can be dangerous to an unborn fetus.   Although she was gentle, the massage was incredibly refreshing for my 8 ½ month pregnant self and the stress that my feet had been feeling from carrying around my own extra weight and a seven pound human in me, was completely gone.  I ended up choosing Zoya’s Nefertiti on my feet, a stunning red, that even today, a week later, is still on my toes looking like I just got the pedicure done.  After she finished, the bottoms of my feet were soft and smooth as a baby's behind, my toes looked beautiful with Zoya’s Neferti, and I couldn’t wait for the mani.

  

The manicure began and when Irina began using the passion fruit scrub on my hands, I was in bliss. Since I type constantly, my hands carry a lot of pain especially in between my thumb and index finger. Irina really massaged that area using the Passion Fruit Scrub and Acai Creme and with her magic hands,  all of the stress from the months before melted away.

Is it just me, or is there something about a hand massage that can turn your whole life around? Lol, After she was done with the luxurious massage, I chose Zoya Happi for the color.

Zoya Happi is from Zoya's current Flash collection, and it's probably one of my favorite pinks.  Who knew two days later, one of the happiest days of my life would come to pass.

Completely Bare Spa Gets Waxing Right!

For the last eleven years, I have been getting  Brazilian waxes every four to six weeks. It’s something that I must do. Lately though since I’ve been pregnant, my skin has been very sensitive,and the Brazilian woman who usually does my waxes, doesn’t seem to really understand that, so I’ve had to stop seeing her. Last time as I tried to explain to her that she had to be a little bit easy, she scoffed at me and told me in her Brazilian Accent, “Ah You Can Take The Pain,” as she roughly ripped the wax off of my delicate hormone filled skin. After that,  I was in so much pain, I was in tears, which hadn’t happened since the first time I’d gotten a Brazilian. So after eleven years with her, I decided to drop her like a bad habit. (She's been calling me since, begging me to come back, but heck no!) I’d heard great things about Completely Bare salon, and knew that I had to try them. Apparently they treat everyone like they have sensitive skin so when they asked if I wanted to stop in, of course I had to say yes. 

The space is absolutely beautiful and the girls are so friendly in the front. I had to fill out paperwork asking if I was on Retin A or anything like that.  (Apparently not good for the waxing.) Once finished, I was led to the back by a woman named Jill. Jill will now replace my normal Brazilian girl and will be my waxer for the rest of my life. I was led to a  room, that actually had a television inside of the ceiling so I could watch tv as I was getting waxed.

I told Jill my concerns, and she immediately said “Yes, your skin right now is very sensitive, so we’ll try to make this as painless as possible.” Finally, someone who had empathy for me!  But Jill is not just an ordinary waxer. She’s a medical aesthetician who actually teaches waxing as well so she knows how to treat skin.  Completely Bare use their own line of  “ouchless” waxes, one is a hard wax which was almost painless (no Brazilian is pain free) and a soft wax as well. 

Bottom line, as I watched Juno on the ceiling TV,  Jill worked her magic, being soothing and letting me know what she was doing,  and when I walked out, I was ‘completely bare,’ very happy, and absolutely thrilled with Jill and Completely Bare spa. I booked my next appointment three days before my baby's due date.

If you're new to  waxing, or if you’re looking for a new place to wax, or you’re pissed off with your current waxer like I was, I highly recommend going to Completely Bare. I must warn you, after coming here, you will never get waxed anywhere else again.

Dominican Salon Review: Magic Touch Salon

So this is my first Dominican salon review after about almost two years. I'm sorry I haven't done one in some time, but when I asked you guys what you missed on the site, I got so many e-mails asking me for the reviews back. That makes me so happy that you guys liked them. I almost forget how popular they were. Hell, even Vogue featured the one that supermodel Liya Kebede goes to and about four reporters I know troop miles to get their hair done by Dominicans.  So I've re-started them. I started doing the reviews differently this time. I don't ever let the salon know that I"m reviewing them. So this salon I went to had no idea they were getting reviewed, and all the pics that were taken, were with a hidden camera. lol Let's begin:

A few of you readers had asked me to review Magic Touch Salon. Located on 115 and 1^st ave, in the heart of Spanish Harlem. Many of you had heard about it though word of mouth and wanted me to get the deets. What my readers want! They get! 

Decorum: As I walked into Magic Touch, I’ll be honest, I was not impressed with the decorum at all. There is nothing “beautiful” at this salon. You can tell this place is strictly business and that's it. They really don’t care about the salon’s appearance. That’s fine for some, and unacceptable for others. For me, on that day, it was ok. (On another day, I might have just walked out.) I needed to get my hair done and fast .If you’re looking for pretty place…keep looking.

I was pretty shocked at how many dryers and chairs they were able to fit for such a small amount of space. I literally saw 13 dryers there. The salon is tiny. And they also had about seven hair do stations. Only 3 hair wash stations though. 

Customer Service: When I walked in, it was Thursday around 11:00 am and there were eight women already getting their hair done. I had to be somewhere at 1:00 so I was a little nervous  that it would take forever, but immediately as I walked in the salon, the woman in the front told me to walk to the back and wash my hair. The girl did a fantastic job on my wash. She massaged my scalp and washed my hair three times with the shampoo, and then conditioned it and used the comb to detangle. It was done very gently.

Products: Now, as I was getting my hair washed, I observed their products. I did see an empty bottle of Ojon but honestly they pretty much used L’oreal, Silicon (Dominican products ) and other products called Luna.   (I would probably just bring my own products here.) 

Hair: The girl used the huge gray rollers to do my hair, and stuck me under the dryer (no ear covers though, I think i'm going to buy some and start bringing them). As I was under the dryer, I observed around six different women from all ethnicities, coming in, getting attended to immediately. The women here are all business. They want you in and out in no time. After I finished drying (their dryers are so good, I was done in 30 minutes) Idalina, one of the hairdressers spotted me and led me to her table. She asked me what I wanted. I told her I liked my hair with a lot of volume but not too much heat.  She then asked me if she should just blow dry it up, (which is exactly right) I told her yes, and she began working her magic. Many times I've gone to other salons, and they've used the curling iron after blow drying my hair. No good! I don't llike that much heat on my hair.  She began working her magic, blowdrying the hair in an upwards motion, then pincurling it, Walaa! in 15 minutes, my whole head of hair was done. I was so impressed at what an amazing job she did and how fast I was done. I was out of the salon at 12:30. I had gotten there at 11:00am. That's almost unheard of.

Cost: But then, she revealed the cost, and I almost had a heart attack. When I asked her how much, and she said doce, which means $12.00, I almost threw my shoes off and did a backflip. I asked her to repeat herself, and she said twelve dollars in broken english. Well holy crap, I gave her the $12.00 and a $10.00 tip.My hair came out so beautiful, and lasted so long. 

Listen this may not be the prettiest salon, but if you want your hair done beautifully for next to nothing, go here. Special thanks to Akmed from down the street for taking another pic when I asked him to. I think he liked me. 

Out of a 1-5, this salon gets a solid 3.5. Although the products and decorum, need a lot of work, the service is fast, hair looks amazing, and in this recession, it's very important for a salon to be inexpensive. At $12.00 this is downright cheap!
