Cancer - You're Going Down

Photobucket

Today is the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So many people I know have been affected by this horrible illness. Mommy got it three times, but beat it-even after Doctor’s told her she wouldn’t! (Don’t I always tell you, she’s amazing!) It’s so sad what can happen when your own body turns on you. The results are devastating. It’s really depressing that everyone I know, is friends with someone who is either fighting cancer, has died from cancer or their cancer is in remission. I’m so happy that so many organizations are taking a stand against this dreadful illness including the Breast Cancer Research Foundation-started by the Lauder Family. I’d like to do my share too!

Total Beauty and a few other bloggers have partnered together for the Total Beauty Total Cure Campaign. I'll also be having a special give away on October 22, 2008 so stay tuned.

I'm also trying to raise $200 by October 31, 2008 to donate to the BCRF foundation. Please click on the chip in widget to the right. All donations are appreciated.

How has Cancer Affected you?

What steps are you taking to prevent cancer?

I’m currently taking a stand against cancer too by eating right, getting annual breast and pap exams, and raising money for this effort as well! Also, my good friend MischoBeauty is running for a cure so please join her in her fight as well!

Hugs,

DE

Hello.
I enjoy reading your blog. You are such an inspiration. I know you will go very far in life.
Thank you for writing about breast cancer. I am a cancer survivor. I can't run or walk in marathons because I become exhausted very quickly. Long term side effect. One of many. But I have a credit card that donates a portion of each transaction to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Like your mom, I've been on the raw food diet-well 50% raw and 50% cooked. I can't give up a great burger, Mexican food and gyros sandwich LOL. I'm glad that she is doing well. Because of the effects of chemo and radiation, I have to be very careful of what products I use. Your product recommendations have been a tremendous help for me. I haven't been able to find a face and body exfoliation paste/cream without having adverse effects. Someone recommended the Salux Asian washcloth. Because you are "in the know", I wanted to ask you if you heard of it-and if you did, did you like it? My face is oily in the T-Zone and normal to dry everywhere else; while my body is dry. My doctors recommended Cetaphil, but it doesn't do a good job of cleaning dirt...and they don't recommend the facial brush you recommended just yet. They never heard of the Salux washcloth so I thought I would ask you incase you did.

Until your next entry,

Makeupmaven, thanks baby! i really appreciate it.

@Teensybug, thanks so much for that! you really made my day. I was having a bad one yesterday. My japanese friend Sachiko uses the cloths you mentioned. She loves them, and they're pretty inexpensive. However, she doesn't use them on her face, only on her body. Before I recommend anything to you, can you let me know of any allergies or skin conditions you may have? Hugs, De

Sorry I posted twice. I wasn't sure if the first one went through. I'm happy that I was able to make your day and I hope you'll have a better day today. You always make my day with your entries. You are a real inspiration.
Regarding my skin/allergies: I'm allergic to all seafood (yeah, I know). My face is dry with an oily t-zone, while my body is very dry. A lot of products formulated for sensitive skin don't irritate my skin, but they don't clean it either. I used to use Palmer's Cocoa Butter Soap, but it irritates my skin now. I use clearly natural glycerin bar soap on my body. It seems to be okay, but my skin feels really tight afterward-until I moisturize with the holy grail of moisturizers: Coconut Oil. Although, I do use olive oil or Crisco shortening LOL. I just feel that the moisturizers can't really do their jobs when my skin needs exfoliation.
Thank you so much for taking time from your busy schedule to reply. Take Care.

First of all, blessings to your mother for being the fighter and inspiration she is to all of us! And, I can't thank you enough for the mention! The past 2 weeks have been a little rough, but I'm determined to make the goal! :)
