DE'S LOVING MINX NAILS!

Photobucket

If you’re addicted to nailpolishes and manicures, by now you’ve heard about the latest nail trend. Minx. Celebs from Rihanna to Beyonce have been rocking this hot new look. But what exactly is Minx? It’s a polymer film of hotness that can be heat activated. I say hotness because Minx comes in so many unique and gorgeous colors and designs, you’ll be getting compliments everywhere you go. Anyway once Minx is heated, it takes the shape of any surface including your nails. I recently got my Minx nails done by celebrity manicurist TracyLee of the Fabulous Damone Roberts Salon in New York. (While I was there singer Estelle came in to get her eyebrows done by Damone.) Tracylee was actually the first person who brought this trend to New York, and I want to say a big thank you to Tracylee, because Minx will definitely be a part of my beauty arsenal.

The procedure is super quick. You start off getting a dry manicure (you don’t want anything wet on your nails because that can mess with the adhesion) and then Tracy heats up the Minx with a special bulb.
Photobucket (Tracy heating up my Minx)

There were so many designs to choose from, but I chose a feisy metallic red. It’s sexy and tis the season for red (and since I work for the news there was no way I could get away with a hot design.)

Photobucket

After Tracy heats up the Minx, she quickly but carefully applies it to your nail. The minx sticks to your nail, and Tracy expertly files it down and removes the extra minx from your nail. The whole process should last no more than thirty minutes but after those thirty minutes, you’re left with the hottest nails you’ve ever seen. Check my sexy hot red out !

Photobucket

I live in New York, and people are used to seeing fab and unusual things, but on the subway, I have never gotten so many compliments on my nails. I must have tried to explain Minx to around 20 women. Finally I just gave them TracyLee’s info and told them to call her. When I went to a party last night, so many people were loving the Minx. They are truly a show stopper. Now TracyLee says things that can interfere with Minx are lotions with tea tree oil, and shea butter. For some reason Minx does not like those two lotions, and will begin lifting off. Also, a good way to maintain Minx is every other day, blow dry your nails (remember minx is heat activated) and then just re-push the minx on to the nail again. Tracylee says Minx should last from 4 days to a few weeks, but her Minx applications have been known to last a lot longer. I love my Minx. You can Reach Tracylee at the Damone Roberts Salon on Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays at 212-764-4755.

ZOYA'S TRUTH COLLECTION IS THE TRUTH!

You guys know how much I love to paint my nails. The problem with painting my nails is because I’m always typing, usually my colors chip within a few days. However, with Zoya’s new Truth Polish, it took 4 days for one color to even begin chipping. The Zoya truth collection is a gorgeous array of six luscious shades, perfect for the falll months.

Photobucket

Here are some swatches.

The first color is Anaka, a stunnng fuschia with sparkles. Now check this out. This is Anaka after six days. Do you see how little it has chipped. I’m amazed!

Photobucket

The second shade is Isla (which in Spanish means island). A sexy luxurious red.
Photobucket

The Third Shade is called Salma, It’s a tricky shade of red/orange. I say tricky because it looks a light red in the bottle but once applied, I feel it has more of an lustrous orange to it. It’s beautiful.
Photobucket

The fourth shade is Drew. It’s a gorgeous shade of mauve. I love the classiness of this. Perfect for work.
Photobucket

The Fifth Shade is Penny. It’s a beautiful gold, but for some reason looks orange on my camera.
Photobucket

The last shade is Kalmia. It’s a beautiful golden pink. I love love love it.

What shades do you love in this collection?

Also, have you entered my lancome giveaway. You can win one of Arlenis Sosa's products.

DE's LOVING ZOYA'S FALL LIMITED EDITION MATTE VELVET

As you guys know DE is a nailpolish junkie. I love love nailpolish. Rarely do I ever match my toes with my fingers. There are way too many nailpolish shades for all that. Anyway, I recently discovered the Zoya nailpolish line, and I’m hooked for a few reasons. First of all this nailpolish is Formaldehyde, Toluene, Dibutyl Phthlate and Camphor free. The colors last forever –seriously, I had a shade on for more than four days before I needed to reapply on my fingers (that never happens) and the drying time is very fast-especially for their new Limited Edition Matte Velvet Collection. These colors are just so beautiful and rich, and look fab on my nails. Although these are meant for the fall, I’m already wearing the Posh Matte Shimmer on my nails. This gorgeous red is stunning. I love red polish. There’s no shine to them, just a rich, intense matte red. I love it.

Photobucket

The other two shades are incredibly vampy and sexy. The Loredanda is a grey infused with some glitter. I’m loving it too, and will definitely be wearing it with a hot red dress that I have.

Photobucket

The last color is Dovima a seductive shade of black. Black polish has never been a part of DE’s regimen until now. I’m thinking of changing it up this year, with some hot red lipstick, and black polish (I could drive Mr. DE crazy with all this sexiness!)lol.

Here’s the shade.

You readers know how much I love to glam up my nails. I think beautifully painted nails are so girly and pretty. Borghese new spring collection is absolutely stunning with its gorgeous array of purples and pinks (two of my favorite colors-especially for the spring.) The inspiration of this stunning collection was a classic italigan garden. They contain Borghese Aqua diVita complext to help restore moisture to the nails. I love Borghese's big brushes too. I can paint my nails a lot faster.

Photobucket

The colors are Argento Mist, Campanula Bellflower, Piccola Tulip, Primula Primrose, Peonia Blossom, Giardino Heather.
My camera isn't working so I used my ancient old camera to take this pic of my fingers with the Argento Mist on. It truly is a stunning shade of lavender (You really can't see how gorgeous it is). Love Love Loves it!

Introducing Borghese Fall Collection

This season Borghese took inspiration from the deep, rich tones that color daily life in Tuscany. The collection draws on the lush reds, purples and plums of Italy’s famed wines, from Brunello and Pomino to Chianti and Vino Nobile. The Wine of Tuscany Fall collection comes in six shades:

Vin Santo Raisin (brown/purple frost)
Vino Nobile Berry (medium/dark berry crème)
Rosato Rose (dark rose pink crème)
Vini Violet (dark lavender/light purple crème)
Pomino Plum (purple frost)
Brunello Grape (dark purple crème with a little pearl)

I had never tried this line before and I must say I loved it. My favorite color would have to be the Vinto Santo Raisin which is a gorgeous brown/purple combination. Loved it! I also love the big brush that Borghese uses. My nail color was much easier to apply!

Have you tried the Borghese line of nailpolishes?

Essie's Winter Line- Glam Sneak Preview

Ah, you beauties know how obsessed I am with Essie polishes. I have over 100. Essie decided to give BeautyLogic a sneak peak of their fantastic winter collection coming out in November. Essie Weingarden had this to say about her winter collection:

"Winter’s divine fashions parallel essie’s new collection of six striking nail colors from classy reds to shimmery violets and a surprising burst of gold, proving that “without color, it wouldn’t be fashion.”

Essie's winter 2008 nail color collection includes:

Shifting Power – Sizzling molten gold

Photobucket

Bold and Beautiful: Rich, ruby garnet

Photobucket

Damsel in a Dress – Oh-so-deep currant
Photobucket

It's Genius: A violet quartz shimmer

Photobucket

Rock Star Skinny: Glamorous crimson red

Photobucket

Sexy Divide: Electric Violet Temptation

Photobucket

What are your favorite shades in the Essie new Winter Collection?

Mine would have to be Shifting Power & It's Genius. I love them! They'll look gorgeous on my tan skin.

GLITTERIZE

I remember when I was a kid; I had a huge obsession with glitter. My mother would go crazy screaming at me all the time because there would be glitter all over the house, and all over my hair. It was an addiction. I glitterized everything. But as I got older, I became less artsy and put the glitter away. However, I was a kid of the nineties so by the time I turned fourteen, the obsession with glitter began again. I had those long airbrushed acrylic nails (I thought I was so cool), and I would put glitter all over my crazy designs. But when I reached my late teens, the fascination was over again, and the glitter got thrown away.

However, yesterday I was in Duane Reade when guess what caught my eye again after so many years= a gorgeous pink glitter polish from Wet n Wild called Sparkled. It captivated me. I picked it up and eyed it cautiously. I asked myself, As a woman in my twenties, could I really get away with glitter polish? My heart said take it, but my mind said, Are you crazy, you’re a professional woman…..glitter polish you must be mad. I’ve always been a woman who listened to her heart instead of her mind so I ran out ignoring the voices in my head (no I’m not schizo). I paired it up with my PeaceKeeper polish and I thought my nails looked so purdy!
Take a look:

Photobucket

What do you think? Be honest now, should DE act her age and put the glitter away or should I continue to Glitterize?

Do you glitterize? Will you glitterize?

By the way today I'm having a random giveaway. for three winners but you'll have to be one of the first to comment to win so stay tuned.

Hugs,

DE

Keep the Peace and look beautiful too

Have you guys heard of PeaceKeeper? It’s a line of natural make-up, and of all their profits after taxes go to benefit women’s health advocacy &human rights issues. I love that, but I also love the fact that they don’t manufacture anything with Parabens, FD&C coloring, Artifical coloring or fragrance, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Acetone, Sodium Laurel Sulfate, and a host of other chemicals. Anyway, I picked up their nailpolish Paint Me Stunning around 3 days ago at Whole Foods. I adore the color and it contains nourishing Argan Oil which is fab for the nails. It’s a beautiful pink that dried quickly, and two coats was all I needed for a gorgeous color. I still haven’t seen chipping yet. Here’s a pic:

Photobucket

PeaceKeeper doesn't just offer nailpolish, but a whole array of other make-up as well. You guys should check them out.

PeaceKeeper

Hugs,

DE
