Oils 101-Rosemary Oil For Hair Growth

Rosemary is  a herb that is native to the Mediterranean region. It’s a member of the Lamiaceae herb family which are basically the mint family plants. Other members of that family are basil, mint and patchoulli. If you’re a hair care fanatic like me, chances are you’ve heard of the amazing benefits of  Rosemary Oil. This oil is said to not only increase the shine to your hair, cover premature greys, eliminate dandruff, but to also promote hair growth. In the book,  "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy," author Valerie Worwood recommends the use of rosemary oil for hair growth. According to Worwood, rosemary oil stimulates cell division and dilates blood vessels and, in turn, stimulates hair follicles into producing new hair growth. My mother swears by this oil, and when I was sent the Weleda Rosemary oil to try by a PR company, I was super excited.

A girlfriend of mine  (whose hair is wondrous) swears by this oil over coconut oil because it’s not as oily as coconut oil which she claims breaks her out and she loves the tingling effect on her scalp that rosemary gives.

Have you tried this oil?

Do you love it?

Hugs,

DE

Yes, my late aunt told me about this, back in the day she would heat it with lavendar oil and massage it into her hair, sleep with it in and then wash it out in the morning. She also kept her hair braided. It was really long. I have tried it, the smell is really strong, but it does leave the hair soft.

There are many herbs such as Aloe Vera and Rosemary that have been used for centuries to control and strenghten hair growth. An interesting sort of pepper called Capsicum and Lemongrass are also prefered.
