Tarte The Royal Collection Suitable for a Queen & New Giveaway!

Yesterday I wasn't feeling my usual self. Although I wanted to just stay home, watch reruns of Desperate Housewives, and eat Edy's pumpkin ice cream (best ice cream ever!), I decided I needed to get my act together not only for myself, but for my lil guy. As I always tell you girls, when you feel your worst, always make sure you look your best, chances are you'll end up feeling better. I talk about that here .So, I put Lil man down for his nap, and broke out the make-up including Tarte's new Limited Edition The Royal Collection Palette. As soon as I laid eyes on it, my mood began to improve. Look at this gorgeous velvet packaging, so luxurious.

I loved it, and then when I opened it, and saw 16 beautiful Tarte colors, I got a little excited.  Not only does it have 16 Tarte Eyeshadow Colors but it also contains deluxe clean slate natural face primer, deluxe lights camera lashes, deluxe multi-eye primer and a gorgeous gloss.   I became a huge fan of Tarte when I was pregnant. Not only are their eye shadows extremely pigmented, and long-lasting, but their make up is made without many harmful ingredients including phtalates (which i was scared to death of when i was pregnant).I used the light pink color on the lid. The matte brown on the brow bone down to the top of the crease and the golden brown on the outer corner and crease. I then used the same color  I used on the lid, as the highlight.

After applying my makeup, and my false lashes, and looking at myself in the mirror and liking what I was seeing, I smiled. It's amazing-the power of makeup. I felt really good, and slowly but surely the old me returned. And I started counting my blessings. As my Abuela always told me "if you look good, you feel good." She's always right.

I want you girls to feel good too. I'm giving away the Tarte Limited Edition Royal Collection Palette. I know I told you girls that this giveaway would be you telling me your most embarrassing moment, but that's changed. I actually would just like you to tell me what are some things you're thankful for. Here are some of mine:
1) My family and  friends (including you girls)
2) My health
3) Linette
4) Edys pumpkin icecream
5) Tarte's new Eyeshadows

Tell me somethings that you are thankful for, for a chance to win a Tarte Limited Edition Royal Collection Palette.
Winner will get announced Monday.

I am thankful for being given the strength to still be able to smile, although life has served me with more trauma than anyone should have to face. I am thankful for my beloved husband who has loved and supported me throughout most of it (38 years!); although he's not quite the same as he was before his stroke, he is still there for me. I am thankful for the memories, painful as they can sometimes be, of the two children (one 6, and one 29) that we lost several years ago, under exceptionally traumatic circumstances; the love and joy they brought to our lives, as well as the pain, never goes away! I am thankful to have my two surviving children and to see that, despite everything we've been through, they have turned out to be good and decent people as adults; although one is bi-polar and schizoprenic and the other suffers from clinical depression, they manage to cope very well with life. They are fighters and survivors! I am thankful that, this Thanksgiving, I have my mother in my life after a childhood spent raised by beloved relatives, who have now passed on; as wonderful as they were to me, the little girl inside me still cried every day, for so many years, for her mommy. I am thankful to just be here, considering that my health has never been the best; I've had too many close brushes with my own death! And I am thankful for the internet, which has given me a window on the world and friends that I otherwise would not have had!

Besides my family I'm thankful for:

1. Beans and the bean diet! (I already lost 20 lbs. and my saddlebags are shrinking!!!!!)

2. Lowering my food budget because beans are super cheap to cook in this economy--besides helping get more fiber and ridding me of those awful fat lumps.)

3. Instead of looking like an overstuffed sausage I wore a tight dress without breaking any seams or the zipper after learning to cook with those mashed beans! (I have a size smaller dress already for the holidays with hopes of squeezing in.)

4. Finally I'm thankful for my guy chopping down our apple tree and making it into a stump. If he didn't, I would still be eating those fattening, but delicious pies that caused all those ugly saddlebags in the first place!

5. Those saddened by the lost of that apple tree I also am thankful for the rabbit that came daily for bread that I left for the birds on that stump. She got to recognize me and my familiar mixing bowl and would hurry to hop to the feeding stump. Later, she nudged her baby bunny up. (Honestly, this is a true story of the rabbit I called Breadeater!)

6. Finally, I thankful to my friend for teaching me how to cook dried beans so you won't have gas. Very important tip if you plan to eat beans and go on that bean diet!!!

This is just a tad of what I'm grateful for!

I am thankful for the past two, eventful years. I married my best friend, bought a house and am now expecting a baby in June. I am also thankful for my wonderful mom, family, supportive group of friends and my health. And lastly, I couldn't believe that I, a pregnant Dominican woman, found this blog. In my pregnancy I've been breaking out like crazy and it was really bringing me down. I felt like a fea. I found this blog, read many posts (old and new) and purchased the Clarisonic (magical) and the Mario Badescu pink drying lotion (unbelievable). I now feel pretty again. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

(Sincere prayers for your Abuelita)

I am thankful for Facebook. Not only did it allow me to reconnect with old friends, it also allowed me to finally, once and for all realize and know who my true friends are. I lost some people in the process but theres no love lost there. What matters are the ones who are still on my list, my true friends ..the people who truly care for me. Without Facebook, I would probably still be wondering who really has my best interest. and without FB, I wouldnt have discovered this fantastic blog as well.

I am thankful that after four years my Doctors have gotten my asthma under control. No more hospitals after I can't get past an attack or an ambulance when I pass out. No more tubes down my throat or being scared my son would find me gone one day.

Just the other day I took him to the park and was able to chase him! Night and day I tell you. I am soooo blesses

I'm thankful for makeup, lol. I was hit by a car 2 years ago this month and have been paralyzed since. Makeup was a main tool of life rehabilitation.

First it took my mind off of 3 months of hospital rehab.

Second, it gave me a workout since I had to use both hands to apply it without any back or trunk strength. (lol, I looked a dash board hula girl).

Lastly, it saved me from cabin fever. I started to buy and sell on eBay to keep me busy and to save me from myself. That's how I discovered Tarte and several other cosmetic companies. I've been hooked ever since.

So yeah, I'm thankful for God, for life, for my super mom, for great friends, and yes, for makeup. Merry Christmas all!
